Rumors of strange creatures and places appearing have popped up ever since the Moon began to glow an amber red. People call this event the Blood Moon. Once such place was recently found by your friends. When the Blood Moon is full, a passage appears on Ayr that leads to a strange swampy glade. Gathering together a group of people, you've traveled to this place to test yourself. Your friend challenged you to a test. They said that deep with in the swamp, if you follow the twisting pathway, past the dead white tree and across a fallen statue, you'll come to a glade surrounded by a ruin. In the middle of this glade is a black flower that pulses with a dim purple glow. They have challenged you to go and pick this flower and bring it back as proof of your courage. If you don't, they said, you're a coward!
You may have just one person be challenged, or multiple and you all meet up outside the cliff that the challenger told you opened up to reveal the swamp.

Challenge her? Pfft, stupid scholars. Esmeralda glared at all of them before grabbing Muriel up in her arms and heading out to find Ekundayo. She’d challenge him in return and they’d both have to go in! So when she did arrive at his home, she gave him a small peck on the cheek before challenging him to the same odd swamp place that had showed up in the blood moon. Now they both could go.

It was a big surprise to see Esme right at his front door, and even more to see that she’s not alone as she has a young little Keingling in her arms. But Eku was soon taken away by that small sweet peck on his cheek which made him smile before he was challenged to go with her to this swamp place. Ha! Like that could ever scare him. He’s the scariest looking person ever here. Well, second scariest for he can never win against Draco. Vilzun decided to stay behind for he didn’t want to go to some scary place which is fine by him and so he gathered his belongings and grabbed his girl by the hand to head off to this place Esmeralda heard about.
You have arrived at the foot of the cliff. The moon hasn't risen just yet, but it should soon. All about you is darkness, broken only by the far off starts above you and the pale mists swirling about even though there is no breeze. The night is silent; no insects buzz, no dragons call out, there is no sound except what you make. As the Blood Moon rises in the East, casting a reddish amber glow upon the swirling mists, you hear a rumblings sound and soon the earth beneath you shakes and quivers. The cliff suddenly breaks apart and a howling wind rushes out from the newly opened crack. As suddenly as it began, it stops. And silence descends once more. Before you is a large crack in the cliffs... shall you enter and test your courage?

The darkness feels like it is trying to reach for her a suck her into oblivion, and it’s only when she hears Ekundayo that she leans closer to him so she can feel his heat as they walk together. And the Dovaa almost doubles back as the moon finally shows it’s face and shows them the way. One hand holding Muriel, she puts her arm tightly around Ekundayos. “You first.” She whispers quietly.
Esmeralda has always been a nice bonded, she takes great care of Muriel and the Drakein believes she has a good life. Until of course, the crazy woman decides she wants to go out at night find some hidden dangerous passage all for her curiosity! But Muriel has no choice, she cannot allow Esmeralda to go alone. She may not be strong enough to help her now, but as she grows she will take great care of the delicate Dovaa. Thankfully she goes to find some man who seems happy, very happy, to accompany them to this secret dangerous place. Muriel doesn’t know if she likes him for his courage or hates him for allowing Esme to go!

The darkness engulfs them as he could feel the Dovaa pressing against his side as she leaned closer to him. He figured that the girl was frighten of the darkness and it made him smile. Esmeralda must be a little scared as there was silence around them. He was for he hated the silence so much. It just drives him crazy with his ears feeling like it's about to burst followed by an ear shattering scream that would just destroy his mind. Luckily he never had those things happened lately. Actually, the moment he started to hang around with the Dovaa they had stopped. The dark seemed to be lighten in his eyesight as the moon had finally shone it's light down to reveal a path before them and he felt the sudden arm wrapped around his as well as the quiet whisper. It was very cute to see that and he leaned close to kiss her right above her head. "It be all right Esmy, just stay close." His raspy voice cooed gently to her, reassuring that nothing will ever go wrong as long as he's here and will protect her and her little Keinling too as they traveled down the path
The crack in the cliff is filled with sharp rocks and is barely lit. Only a faint red glow comes from above where the cliff's broken halves meet. As you stumble your way through, you are continuously surrounded by a wailing wind that howls by you as it flees the Swamp. The further along you travel the stronger the smell of decaying life and stagnant water gets. Finally you reach the end of the cave. Before you lies a swamp like no other you have seen before.
There are trees here, but most of them look like they are dying; drooping and covered in hanging moss as if they don't have the will to stand up straight any longer. Strange pale blue balls of fire float about the swamp, meandering about on unseen paths. Small red dots flicker towards you then vanish, eyes of the animals that live here. As you walk forward, you notice that there is no boundary between land and water. grass grows on the water, making it look like land; while the land is often submersed under the water so that to follow the path before you, your feet get soaked. Strange hooting calls echo about, and you feel as if many eyes are upon you.
In the distance you spot a pale white tree, shining through the gray-green mists that lurk above the water and obscure everything.
You may continue forward, Go to Path or you may flee, Go to Flee.
Good thing Ekundayo is there with herm he reassures her and they continue forward. The disgusting smell gets to her nostrils and the Dovaa tries to ignore it. It’s only when her feet get into the water does she truly relax because the water is her refuge and she knows nothing can happen to her here. The white tree seems to be their goal, so Esmeralda moves towards that.
Muriel feels like she never has a choice on where they go, like a little child, which she is, she throws and internal tantrum at her Bonded. Emeralda only tells her that this is going to be fun and not to worry about it. Of course, her Bonded doesn’t understand how small she is and that she’s afraid of the dark. When asked if she could be carried, Esme replies that she cannot because they need to be alert. Muriel quiets down then, nothing she says will changer her Bondeds mind. What a pain.

He didn't like this feeling of being watched. It felt as though they have trespassed someone's territory as he looked around to see some small glowing lights of the animals and creatures that lived here. Eku held Esmeralda close to him as they trek through the swamp at an easy, slow pace. It would be bad if they tripped on something that is in the water. In his eye sight, a particular seemed to be beckoning to them to head at that direction as well as thinking it must be where the flower was for the challenge. He only hoped he was right about that.
As you walk along the damp winding trail that meanders through the swamp, you sense something following you. Before you is the pale white tree that you were told to pass so next must be a fallen statue. As you look about the mists swirl about and you see in ahead of you a huge shattered stone facing staring at you. Then the mists swirl and its hidden again. Was this perhaps the statue? Every other direction has trees and more trees. As you stand by the pale tree that glows in the red moon light you hear a sound. Spinning around you spot ::
If the group does not include any battlers: You turn around and see a group of Will-o-Wisps floating towards you. :
The mists suddenly flare up and you spot many glowing balls of blue and green flames float towards you. You notice that there seems to be skull like shapes inside the balls of cold fire.
If Group's total LUK is between 1 and 9: You spot 4 Dunkels (LUK 2) The dark shadows suddenly appear from the mist and 4 large Dunkels come flapping towards you, letting out a shrill scream.
If Group's total LUK is between 10 and 19: You spot 4 Will-0-Wisps (LUK 10) and (if the group has 18 or 19 LUK) 1 Animated Pumpkin The mists suddenly flare up and you spot 4 glowing balls of blue and green flames float towards you. You notice that there seems to be skull like shapes inside the balls of cold fire.
If Group's total LUK is between 20 and 29: You spot 3 Borlarn (LUK 20) or 3 Borgnah (LUK 25) Silently and quickly, the shadows come charging towards you. In the reddish light of the Blood moon you see the deadly slim shapes of the Borlan, deadly armored hunters. Or You see the large shape of a huge furry spider with glowing golden eyes.
If Group's total LUK is greater than 29: You spot 3 Draugur (LUK 30) From the mists emerge the shape of flowing black shadows. Even though they enter the red light of the Blood Moon, you can only see black shadows in the shape of a large bird.. if a bird drooped and rustled like a cloak in the wind. It's the Draugur! You remember the rumors of how they are the spirits of the angry dead who possess the carrion birds that flock to battle fields...

A sudden creepy feeling makes the hair behind Esmeralda’s neck raise, she looks in front and both sides and sees nothing. “Eku I feel followed.” She whispers quietly, as she stares at the tree and then the odd. The sound is bone chilling; the Dovaa turns around and sees the four floating will-o-wisps. “EKU!” The Dovaa yells, pointing to the things as they head towards them.

Hearing her crying out his name, Eku jumped in alert and moved right in front of her with his weapon at hand. They were confronted by a group of will o wisps and they were so close to them. The mage was afraid of fighting at this close of a distant with Esmeralda and Muriel for they could both get hurt just by the shock waves of his magic. Instead, he thought of an escape for them to head towards to their destination as a dark sphere of energy is formed and pointed the water just below the will o wisps. He unleashed his attack and the water splashed straight up to them. "Esmy, run!" He grabbed her hand and he hoped that she's holding on to Muriel as they made their escape away from the creatures.
After losing the fight: As you run away from the creatures towards the huge face you spotted before the fight, the mists swirl about you and a strange scent fills your nose. Leaping across the huge stone head, you can see that it is attached to a huge stone body. This must be the fallen statue! As you hurry past it and look over your shoulder to see where the creatures are, you see that they won't venture past the statue. How odd. The look pissed but fearful and slink back into the mists from which they came, leaving you alone in the silent marsh. Now all you need to do is find the glade surrounded by ruins... As if in response to your thoughts, the moonlight seems to brighten and the mists part briefly, revealing moss covered ruins before a cloud crosses the moon and the mists close up once again. As you walk towards the ruins your foot hits a patch of slime. The strange disgusting scent suddenly increases as your foot slides in the pale orange slime.
After winning the fight: As you walk towards the face you saw, the mists swirl about you and a strange scent fills your nose. Walking around the huge shattered stone head, you can see that it is attached to a huge stone body. This must be the fallen statue! All about you is silence; in fact, it seems much more silent than it had been a few moments earlier. A chill runs up your spine, something is watching you... Suddenly and strangely the moon seems to glow a brighter red and the mists part briefly, revealing moss covered ruins before a cloud crosses the moon and the mists close up once again. As you walk towards the ruins your foot hits a patch of slime. The strange disgusting scent suddenly increases as your foot slides in the pale orange slime.

Esmeralda barely has time to bend down to grab Muriel as Ekundayo is already grabbing onto her and pulling her with him as they run. The Dovaa has a silly smile because she hasn’t had this much excitement in a long time! Even if this is a life threatening situation and all. No matter. They’ve run to this fallen status and the things seem not to want to follow them, something in Esme’s danger radar goes off put she can’t put her finger on it. “Let’s keep going.” She says half out of breath.
One minute they are fine, walking in the water is no trouble and Muriel actually likes it. Granted the moon gives it a creepy kind of look, it’s water which means it’s safe. To some point at least. Esmeralda’s shriek and then Eku’s own grab her attention, and next thing she knows she is being grabbed out of the water at such a seed she can’t even comprehend what is going on. Not until she notices the things following them!

Well lucky for her she's having a fun time at this while he's making sure she's alive and unharmed from everything. Eku noticed as well that the will o wisps have stopped following them which was a relief to see, but at the same time he wondered why they stopped. Whatever the case may be, he was glad to have found a place to rest for a minute near the broken statue . . . but it was an odd silence here at this part. Hearing from Esmeralda to keep on going, he merely nod his head in agreement and walked ahead first, but he stepped on this weird, slippery slime on his foot and he just winced in utter disgust. "Ugghh! Dis be somethin' nasty . . ." He wasn't having as much fun as Esmeralda is, this is the truth now.
The ruins loom out of the mists and as you pause beneath a shattered arch, you can see a pond illuminated by the Blood Moon at the center of the ruins. The reddish gold tint of the moon causes the water to look bloody. All about are patches of that stinking pale slime. Along the edge of the pond you spot the flower that you came here for. Black petals and emitting a dim purple glow, quite visible in the reddish gold light of the moon. Before you start forward, you suddenly hear a gushing sound. Something large and damp approaches. From your left, a huge pale orange-yellow monster steps into the glade, the mists swirling about it. You can see slime oozing out from between it's armored skin and it's single red eye glares about angrily. You've heard rumors of these beasts. The Babosa: hunger incarnate, and dangerous. You thought that they had all been hunted down years ago...
Should you fight it? Or try and sneak about and grab the flower that way? Babosa's have a LUK of 40. If your group cannot beat that, then you must sneak! Go to Sneak! Go to Fight! or you may flee, Go to Flee.
The slime was an inconvenient… She was going to have to change out of her clothing as soon as they were back to civilization at some point. As a Peisio Dovaa, the pond is a relief, but seeing all the slime everywhere makes her thing there’s something lurking about. Either way, the flower they need is right there in front of them. As Esmeralda begins to approach the flower however, she notices the one thing she thought she’d never see. A Babosa, and she freezes and turns to Ekundayo. “I don’t think you can kill that,” she murmurs as quietly as he can. “Let’s try to sneak past.”
Glad that they’ve managed to escape, Muriel is settled back on the ground… Right into slime. Muriel looks back up Esmeralda to give her a look, but the Dovaa isn’t even paying attention to her. She huffs and walks out of the lime and tries to rub her paws on the grass to get the slime out. This is ridiculous. Why does Esmeralda always bring her to such things? Muriel can’t wait until she can have a proper discussion with her Bonded.
It was awkward walking around now with one foot cold in the disgusting slime. He really wanted to take a bath now and hopes to get this stupid flower soon just so they can go home and clean up. . . . he really wouldn't mind getting cleaned up with her . . . but now is really not the time to think about it seeing the situation they are in now. His hollowed eyes widen in seeing a Babosa blocking their way. He can't fight against that thing! There was only one thing they can do which was to sneak around it and he nod his head. "Yeah, lets be goin' . . ."
They were cautious in their walk around the Babosa which made him relieved to see. He saw Esmeralda sneaking off to grab the flower that they needed, but his hollowed eyes found something a little more interesting than the flower as it sparkled behind a broken pillar. The mage dared to go towards to it and discovered a couple of real treasures; taming jewels for the both of them and he took the Kiandri orbs all for himself. Might as well take it if it's going to stay there to be crushed.
You have (or don't depending on how you rp-ed the Glade encounter) the flower that will 'prove' your courage. Now all you have to do is meet up with the one who challenged you to this test! Please rp leaving and eventually meeting up with the person who challenged you. Rp this encounter and then you are done with the Adventure! To test yourself again, you must wait until the Blood Moon rises next year. If you have 500+ words, you may count this as an RP req. Post in the Finished Adventure thread if you received items. If you went up a level then post in the stat thread for that!
They've managed to sneak past and Esmeralda even grabbed something along the way! The spoils of this adventure were numerous, Esmeralda was besides herself with how much they’d actually gotten! Now they could return to the city at once and she was going to show that scholar how it was done! When she did find him, she threw the flower in his face. “That’s your damn flower for you!” Now all she wanted was to get clean and stay with Ekundayo for a few days.
Esmeralda has told her to keep quiet and follow her, whatever that monster is the duo doesn’t want to face it. She has no choice but to be as quiet as possible as she watches Ekundayo grab some type of flower and Esme grabs some stones from behind a pillar. This is odd, these people are odd, and they should all be running away. Why is she always the more rational one? Muriel is more than glad that they are finally out of that horrible horrible place! She cannot believe Ekundayo would allow Esmeralda to go through all of this, and yet Muriel can’t help but to notice the large smile on the Dovaa’s face. Maybe this man isn’t bad after all. Maybe he’s exactly what Esmeralda needs.
