Argus training had been...different. Thankfully, after spending a few hours after recovering, she had made sure to check in on her little princess, sleeping somewhat make shiftly on the chair near his infirmary bed.
They had told her a lot of things about his condition. Some things she couldn't help with, some things she didn't even know what to say too. She's wasn't his caretaker, or anyone of value to him. She was just the girl who carried him out of the jungle.
But he reminded her of a lost starving dog. Not just physically, but emotionally. Maybe she over analyzed, maybe it was the need to know more about the other hunter.
"Well Princess..." Nevada stretched as she looked at the sleeping Taym, "When are you going to wake up? You really want me to be a prince Charming don't you?"

Waking up in a bed had been enough of a novelty that Taym had decided not to interrupt it, for a while. In truth he'd been lying there motionless, eyes closed, aware on some instinctive level that he wasn't alone and figuring it was probably his Argus teammate, too much absorbed in the pleasure of actually being comfortable (for all his aches) to muster up too much indignant rage or worry too much about what she'd seen--what anyone had seen. So when she spoke, finally, she might have been surprised by the fact that she got an instant answer, tranquil-sounding enough (for the time being). He didn't even bother to open his eyes. "I'm willing to open negotiations, if that was an offer."

"Negotiations you say?" Nevada smiled, even if he didn't move or open his eyes, she was more pleased that he was awake. It was sometimes boring to talk to a body that didn't respond back.
"I'm always open for negotiations. A game of bargaining a tit for tat you know. It just depends on the offer back" She may at this point, gotten up to lean over his figure. "It's all about how you feel Handsome." She reverted to the nickname just for a moment. "I hope you know though, that the princess nickname doesn't end with me, but there was really only one way to carry you out of the jungle and I always live for the flair of the dramatic."

"Great," he said drily, the drowsy humor instantly draining away, opening his eyes specifically so that he could roll them, assess whether he was hooked up to anything--he wasn't--and haul himself into a sitting position, leaning away from her pointedly. He immediately folded his arms over his waist, an instinctive move to hide them. "Just what I ********' wanted."

Her smile continued to grow, even as he opened up and reverted back to the grumpy Taym. She moved only a bit back to respect the like close first layer of bubble but keeping close regardless.
"Don't worry, It did wonders for my ego. The one eyed prince charming carrying the princess in." She teased, "Straight out of a fairy tale. Think hunters will tell all the young trainee's for years to come."
If she noticed the defensive movement of his arms, she didn't say anything. It wasn't her place after all. And considering from what the doctor told her well...
"But that aside, I do believe you mentioned negotiations and offers Princess..." Nevada's smile really couldn't get any wider, "How do you feel about talking it over dinner. I cannot guarantee that dinner will be a steak dinner of fantasticness and the best thing ever but well....We make do with what we can. I could even cop us a couple of soda's for that bubbly sparklies."

He leveled a flat look at her and let a long silence stretch, and his fingers when he reached up to gently touch his fresh injuries trembled again, just a split-second tremor. He was doing that thing again. That thing where he wouldn't look away. The dog had its hackles up. "What's under that bandage?" he asked finally, tone unreadable.

The question startled her, her face drawing back into tightness. Jaw clenched, her hand came up to cover it. Defensive. Protective. Obsessive.
Well, she knew about his severely malnourished form, it didn't seem fair to her that he didn't have something equal to her level.....
And part of Nevada didn't give two craps what she knew and what he didn't. The eye was her problem and she wasn't ready, She didn't want anyone to see....
"Want to see Princess?" She let the easier smile fall into place, because what was the use? If she was going to show anyone other than Stormy, why not a hunter she barely knew, and in the end....the first step to acceptance is allowing others to accept what she couldn't right? She tugged on the bandage around it, letting the white fabric fall in her lap.
At first her hair hooded it before lifting her head, the smile was more nervous if anything. Above it was one perfect eye, the other well......The eye lid remained closed but 3 long visible scars ran down from her eyebrow line to the top of her cheek bone, large, pink......
"Just a couple of scars and a milky eye under the lid. It's not something I'm comfortable with opening just yet." Once he had gotten a look, she started to rewrap the bandage around, tugging it tight before looking at him again.
"So....Dinner Princess?"

Well, that, at least, succeeded in making him look away: not a flinch, or out of disgust. Out of guilt, if anything. But not before levelly meeting her eye. "I dated a girl with a glass eye." Dated. Understatement of the century. "Total bombshell anyway. Way out of my league." He paused, and added suddenly: "Not big on soda. You'd be wasting your time and your coveted commodities on me. Anyway," he said, struggling to keep the bitterness out of his voice and failing, "I'm pretty accustomed to the whole people-trying-to-feed-me thing, don't dress it up like you want my company. It's insulting."

She did in fact take the look away as one of disgust. But made no comment on it. If that was his opinion, he was allowed it. Not everyone would be receptive of a scar and its meaning. Not everyone would accept a physical malformation, especially one that was so blatantly shown.
His words surprised her though, and made her a tad bit speechless. Even if he was frumpy sort of man, the words were meant to be of acceptance. Perhaps it wasn't disgust then that had him turning away. Before she could ask why and how, he added on his feelings about dinner.
Ah yes, he really was a stray dog indeed. And no matter what he said, those were the types that were silently reaching out anyways.
"I believe we agreed on it being a conduit of possible negotiations and offers," She started again, her smile turning lazy. "Food is not coveted for me Princess, Sleep is though. But sleeping can be a one to two to thousand man activity. So I can't say its really coveted but its higher on my list of needs and wants in life. Underneath it is a room full of pillows...and underneath that is a trip to Hawaii so I can work on a tan..."
Her head turned.
"I can't tell if that's meant to be a insult in itself to yourself, or to my intelligence. If I was after making you eat Taym, I would knock you unconscious and let the doctors fill you with whatever objects they do to give your body whatever it seems to lack. It's not like I have anything to gain or lose if I did that. As it is, that is unethical, cruel and certainly more time consuming with horrible consequences afterwards I just don't want to deal with..."
She cocked her head, "When a beautiful woman offers a dinner, it's not out of pity, its because she is generally interested. I like grumpy, I like working around barriers and walls." Nevada smile fully bloomed, "I like to possibly annoy the hell out of a certain Princess ever since I met him in a certain tear and then we had a argus training and he turned in a report about how his pilot should have two eyes." Yes she had seen it sir, yes she had.
"As that is all said and done, I still would like to have dinner, and you don't have to eat anything at all if that's what you want." She shrugged, "There's not much else we can do on a Island that's on lockdown anyways. Lord knows I want to go back to paperwork."

His eyes absently roamed the far wall and a long few seconds elapsed with his mouth set in a hard line and his jaw working distractedly. Whatever she'd been trying to convey, he'd apparently taken it poorly. He looked, in a word, pissed. "Tip for the future," he said finally, without looking at her. "It's best not to describe someone you're trying to--" the tiniest hitch of hesitation "--befriend as a problem to solve. Seems condescending, you know? So thanks for your help, sorry I was an enormous a*****e about your eye, but no thanks on the dinner invitation." He wished he were anyone else. Anywhere else, any time before Deus, he'd have played up that angle for her, shamelessly, and enjoyed doing it. But he knew that was a stupid idea now even without Fiona murmuring a reminder about it in the back of his head, which she was. So now it was an insult. Now it was condescension. It was easier to frame it that way. "I'm sure you won't have any problems charming someone else into it. Send them my well-wishes."

Ohhhhhh She did like that shift in face, whatever her words were, they didn't do so well. The problem with honesty was, not a lot of people wanted to hear it.
Unfortunetly, Nevada didn't give up so easily. Regardless of Taym's personality or distrust.
"Your tip is noted, and I apologize that it came out in a way to upset you." She tilted her head. "But I have a bad habit of being far more persistent than that."
She hesitated.
"You're not unfriendly because that's the way you want to be, but because you feel its easier to push it away as such. If I thought you were really a a*****e, I would've left before even showing you something I consider very....very personal to me."
"So if not dinner, I can settle for a walk or something Taym. It's not like I want to get to know any other princesses..." She may have frowned. The idea was to get him used to her, not push away. he may not want it, but she was now equally detrimened to make him a friend. Whether or not he wanted one.

He swung his feet off the bed and reached for his coat. Taym lived in his coat even more than most Hunters, and now maybe she knew why. Tit for tat. Wordlessly and deliberately, he put his arms into the sleeves and met her eye as he did so. She'd showed him something she was self-conscious about. He could deal with it, maybe, if she was the only one who saw the things he was self-conscious about. "I feel fine and I'm going back to my room," he informed her flatly. "I am not stupid enough to think that I can just tell you not to accompany me, so if you insist on doing that, be... not my guest. Be unhindered. Best I can do."

Her gaze remained on his, a brief flicker down before meeting his eye. yes, a tit for a tat it was. He was uncomfortable with his body, and she wished she could help him with that but...It was his own problem to overcome.
For now, she would just offer annoyingly persistent friendship.
Standing up now, she held out her hand in front of her, moving it towards the door and chuckling.
"As you wish Princess." Nevada moved the outstretched hand back in front of her, folding them together.
She held her tongue at least until they started walking.

He moved a little stiffly, but that suited him--just reinforced the wary, feral animal aura. He kept his hands in his pockets, his shoulders bent forward. Taym went everywhere like he was walking into a stiff wind. He was silent for a second, but he did speak, finally--largely to stave off her doing it instead and offering some bit of unwanted personality analysis in the process. "I know you're going to go spread your clever ******** sobriquet for me all over the Island and the story of how I got it, if you haven't already, but I'd take it as a kindness if that's the only thing you spread around." He didn't elaborate.

She stayed quietly behind him, regardless of his initial thought. Obviously she had made the wrong impression, and she wasn't quite sure how to fix it.
At his request, her eyebrow raised, moving her to stand by him.
"I think the only person you have to worry about calling you princess is me. While it was amusing for others at first, our island is too busy with missions, death and life and other things to really think of it." She understood what he didn't want her to pass around, and wasn't offended to be honest that he had made sure to voice it. She wouldn't talk about others insecurities when she couldn't even handle her own.
"Damn, And here I was going to spread that we had a wild Tarzan/Jane fling in the jungle. Crazy Monkey sex and stuff." She shrugged, "I guess I'll hold that rumor for now then."
