As usual, the unicorn colt had woken up on the wrong side of the bed that morning. He frowned at most phonies he met while wandering about Phony City, wondering what in the world some of them seemed so happy about. All their small talk, cheerful greetings, polite conversations and friendly pleasantries disgusted him. What did they really know about each other? Did they mean those smiles, or were they hiding their true feelings behind them? Why were so many phonies so - so fake?
Well, he thought with a grim smile as he seated himself under a tree, I suppose that at least makes the name 'phonies' more appropriate... As he peaked out from under the canopy of the tree he'd sought refuge under, he stared up at the sky. Maybe if it would rain, they'd have a harder time keeping up all those fake, frosted smiles and the showers would wash away all pretense of false feelings.Kiara Lime ((I hope this is okay! Please let me know if there's anything I need to change!))

A little white foal with a teal mane and tail was up up at his usual time in the morning, getting ready for another day to figure out how the weather will be. grabbing his saddlebag he moved it over his back and made his way out the door in a rush, but not before telling his family where he was heading off to.
He didn't notice the unicorn foal under the tree as he rushed right by the tree, only a few feet to toss his bag and poke his muzzle in it to find his papers and tools his sister helped him make.
He mumbled to himself as he licked his hoof and put it in the air then wrote down some information.Kitomyx ((No need for change, I can try and work with anything that ppl throw at me.))

Raising a brow as the other colt stopped nearby, Truths realized he had gone unnoticed when the white foal busied himself with things in his bag. Approaching slowly, he came up behind the teal-maned phony and uttered a gruff greeting.
"Morning," he stated. "What are you up to? It looks rather suspicious."

Weatherly was quite startled as he dropped his pencil he held in his mouth. He didn't expect anyone to come up and talk to him.
"Oh, M-morning, sorry, am I in your..." He stopped to listen as an ear perked up, surprised someone would even ask what he was up to. Most would just leave him be. "I'm calculating the wind and cloud formations. It seems the Cumulus is building up to Cumulonimbus..." he paused, almost forgetting he barely made any sense when it came to his hobbies. "Sorry let me try once more. It seems the gathering of these clouds are showing signs to rain in the next hour of so."

Raising a brow as the colt paused, Truths was inwardly astonished by the words that next tumbled out of the stranger's mouth. They were of a higher vocabulary than he would have expected of any phony their age. The white foal seemed to realize this, re-wording his sentence using layman's terms.
Hard Truths was very interested in knowing just why this colt was doing what he said he was, but first things first. He scowled. "Do you think I'm so stupid I wouldn't have understood you the first time?" the unicorn snapped. "I know what 'cumulus' is, thank you very much." As for the rest...maybe not so much, but that wasn't the point. His pride was in peril.

His pronunciation wasn't the best when it came to the terms but he loved to study and try his hardest till it came out right.
His ears folded back a bit nervous when he noticed the scowl. "N-no, I-I..I'm just not use to other ponies knowing the terms and giving me looks like I'm crazy." He scooted back some hoping he didn't just start something, he really didn't like fights.
Reaching over to his papers and saddle bag he tried to lift one of the papers up to show the Unicorn what he was working on. His nerves were still kicked in though so while holding the paper it shook in his grasp. "I'm not always right, but I'm also still learning. If you know anything about the clouds, I..I wouldn't mind your input."

"If they look at you like you're crazy, it probably has to do with the fact that you lick your hoof and stick it in the air while mumbling to yourself," Truths concluded, though his tone had softened. The colt's retreat from him, small though it was, had not gone unnoticed, and while he knew he ended up coming off as somewhat hostile, his intent hadn't been to scare the other off.
When the earth phony retrieved the papers from his bag to show, Truths skimmed them as best he could - at least until he couldn't tolerate the shaking any longer and peered around it at the paper-holder with an incredulous stare. "I'm not going to eat you," he stated dully.
"In fact...don't take this the wrong way, but I'm slightly...intrigued by this little...science experiment of yours." He sat himself down and attempted to take the paper from the other foal, hoping to steady the sheet so he could examine it better.
"Tell me, why exactly did you want to calculate...this...Cumu-nimbo..." He shook his head, exasperated. "The clouds. Why are you studying them, how, and what makes you think it's going to rain?"

Hearing the tone difference in the unicorns voice helped him relax some, looking down to laugh about his odd action to lick his hoof.
He placed the paper on the ground and rubbed his arm as he stopped shaking nervously. "Sorry about that."
His ears perked up when the Unicorn was intrigued. No one ever was intrigued let along the little bit interested in his work. It actually shocked him a bit.
Intently he stayed quiet and listened to what the other foal had to say before speaking. "Well unlike most foals and fillies that usual lay around and see shapes in the clouds, like bunnies or ships, I usually see the thickness wisps and patterns they give off. It's odd, but is fascinates me. Brought out this curiosity I never knew before, so I want to learn more about them.
He tapped his chin some as he sat there trying to see how he could answer his questions. "I've noticed wind changes and with the heat and cold patterns so far, and how they effect the weather." Looking over his shoulder at the clouds he was studying he pointed out a few denser clouds. "I've noticed with how the heat was turning more muggy and how the wind is blowing in our direction it seems within an hour or so the clouds should get darken and produce rain." He really hoped he made some sense of it all.Kitomyx Sorry been busy the last few days

"It's alright," he told the white colt. "I'll admit I'm not the most...approachable phony around, but I do enjoy conversation when I can find someone intelligent enough to hold my attention."
Hard Truths nodded in acknowledgement when the foal gave his explanation. "Why would you call that odd?" he asked gruffly. "It may be a little different from others, but that just means you see things they don't. Moreover, I'd imagine most would be too lazy to pursue something like that, even if they did see what you did."
He looked skyward, as if trying to make out what the cloud-talking phony had been referring to. "You're very observant," he curtly remarked, tilting his head back. "And I suppose those signs and changes were what you were writing down?"Kiara Lime ((Don't worry about it! No rush~))

He was happy that this foal was on the same page, most of the time with him. "Well if it makes you feel any better I'm not that knowledgeable when it comes to playing foal games or being around others besides my family. I rather be in the library with my nose stuck in a book." He chuckled some.
"I wouldn't mind being like other foals or fillies, it would be nice to make a friend or two that wouldn't like I'm odd." He scratched his hoof to his head. "I guess it rubs off on me when others call me odd i start believing I am as well."
Giving a nod he looked down at his book. "Definitely, though you can see it as I've noticed not only in the sky, but how the water and plants move, though I'm more prone to notice it in the sky."
"Oh, i'm so sorry here we're just carrying a conversation and I never introduced myself. My name is Weatherly, what's yours?"

"Don't be silly," Hard Truths scolded. "You're better off as you are. Most other foals are too shallow and impervious to see beyond what their eyes tell them. Most don't seem to want to pursue a sense of wonder, either; to ask why things are how they are. I find that questioning things is a sign of a healthy curiosity." He waved a hoof meaningfully. "I know one or two other colts whose noses are stuck in books most of the time, but you're actually going out and doing first-hand research."
"Those phonies that call you odd - pay them no mind. They're probably just jealous. 'Those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind', as the saying goes. I know I certainly don't concern myself with what others think of me." He returned his attention to the book the white colt referred to.
"I see. Intriguing...I imagine the change in atmosphere also affects the animals?" he asked before the foal introduced himself. "No need to be sorry; it's easy to get caught up in what you're passionate about. I'm not a stickler for politeness. Hmm...Weatherly, is it? That explains a bit," the unicorn remarked thoughtfully. "I'm Hard Truths. And I think this is one of the rare times I can honestly say I'm pleased to meet you, Weatherly. I can't tolerate most other phonies..."
