Hard Truths did not enjoy sweets; he preferred foods with more subtle, refined tastes. He was curious, however, as to why so many other phonies seemed to love them, and so found himself in a candy shop to better understand their strange appeal. They were colorful and inviting visually - at least to those who liked looking at colors. The unicorn colt felt sick to his stomach at the mere sight.
All that sugar...spun, stretched, caramelized, powdered, liquefied, hardened...how could any phony not tire of this? He watched and observed as other young phonies entered the shop and bought their favorite sweets, trying to comprehend what compelled them to do so. At the same time, he couldn't help being reminded of a certain other colt who seemed to love colors. The Semblance of Unity ((Please let me know if I need to change anything! Also, I was thinking, what if this rp worked for both Acid's Honesty and Truths' Loyalty? I know we discussed the latter, but Truths wants to ask Acid about a thing or two requiring his honesty.))

Acid Beat wandered the candy shop, lost in his own little world. He adored the bright colors around every corner and, as an exceedingly active little colt, enjoyed candy as well. But this time was not for him. He nosed through the malt balls, internally debating the intricacies of white chocolate versus dark. Draft Punk, his beautiful purple daddy, had given Acid an obscenely large multicolored lollipop. He wanted to give something back, as thanks. As a constant reminder, the lollipop poked obnoxiously out of his messenger bag. Suddenly, the sucker was lifted out of his bag. Sweet Sparkle's horn glowed with the magic keeping Acid's candy aloft. "Just what do you think you're doing?" A wealth of suspicion sounded in the shopkeeper's dulcet voice. "You cannot just pocket things without paying for them, young colt!" Poor Acid's jaw dropped. The green phony shock his head wildly. "What?! I never took anything. That's mine!" But the filly only shook her striped mane at him and hmphed. Kitomyx I've actually already got honesty covered! But Hard Truths can feel free to ask Acid stuff anyway. I was thinking that by the end of this rp, Acid might wanna be all 'you're my honorary brother' at Hard Truths, whether her liked it or not haha >_>

Just as he was lost in thought, the voice of the phony he'd just been thinking of rung through the air. It sounded somewhat distressed; Hard Truths went over to investigate.
Sure enough, there was Acid Beat. He appeared to be protesting against having stolen a ridiculously massive, colorful lollipop. Clearly this was a case of false accusation and misunderstanding, but with the way Acid had reacted (not that Truth would have reacted any less displeased) he feared the shop owner's doubts would only be reinforced. He trotted up to her.
"Excuse me, miss, but I know this colt," he assured her. "If he says he didn't take that, then he mustn't have. I'm sure there's a reasonable explanation for why he had it with him." Yellow-gold eyes shifted to the green phony. "Isn't there, Acid Beat?"The Semblance of Unity ((Oh, whoops! ^_^; Sorry! Haha, but that sounds hilarious.))

Hard Truth's voice washed over him, a little acerbic as always, but a welcome grey of reason. Acid looked at Hard Truths like he was a savior sent from above. Everyphony knew Hard Truths only spoke, well, much like his name, the little unicorn only spoke the truth. There was no real reason for him to defend Acid, but Acid appreciated it anyway. This colt was sticking up for him! "Yes, that lollipop is mine! My dad gave it to me." He pouted a little, not a very attractive look for the green phony. But that lollipop meant a lot to him. The shop keeper looked doubtfully at both of the colts. "Why should I believe a couple of young things like you?" But she sounded half-convinced anyway. Kitomyx also, feel free to rp bits of the shopkeeper filly if you want ehehe

"I see no reason why you should discriminate against us simply because we're young," Truths answered, trying to keep his voice steady. He had something of a temper, but he knew the importance of withholding it, particularly in front of a doubtful adult. "If he really had been trying to steal it, I highly doubt he would have been so foolish as to keep it in plain sight."
Plucking the lollipop from the air, he turned it over in his hoof to examine it. "As I said, I know him, and he isn't your average, air-headed phony. Even so, everyone makes mistakes, and I'm sure that's exactly what this was." He indicated to the lollipop with his horn.
"Oh," the mare remarked, suddenly looking quite sheepish. She backed off. "Well if that's the case, then I do apologize. It's just that occasionally, young foals who come in here without their parents don't yet understand that stealing is wrong, so I have to keep an eye out for little trouble-makers. They're still my best customers, though," she added with a wink. "Next time , though, you might want to be a little more careful about bringing candy into a candy store with you. Have a good day, boys."
Nodding to Sweet Sparkle as she went to attend to another customer, Hard Truths sighed. Then he appraised Acid's pout. "What are you making that face for?" he muttered. "You look like an infant that didn't get its way. Be a little more dignified, would you? Here." He handed the candy back to its owner. "So...your dad gave that to you, did he?" It was clear he was curious as to why the other colt had brought the candy into the shop in the first place.

"You're a life saver, Hard Truths," Acid exclaimed, face relaxing into a smile. He let the comment about being unattractive slide. After all, his interestingly colored coat made up for any silly faces he might pull. Acid rather liked green. "Dignity is probably overrated, don't you think? We're young; it's our job to be loose and free!" Swishing his tail happily, the green colt stuck highs garish lollipop back into his bag. Acid's good mood was back in full force and he fairly brimmed with energy. "Yep! My dad, who is pretty cool, gave it to me. So I came here to get him something as a thank you. My family is quite...." He trailed off and stared at Hard Truths, eyes widening dramatically. "I have to do something to thank you. You saved me; it's like we are brothers now, bound by escaping the fate of many a young colt before us!" Acid beat grinned. He loved being dramatic, the rise and fall of his own voice reminding him of a rich spread of colors. And this colt, this hard-talking, grey-and-orange-voiced phony, could be his brother-in-arms, bounds by loyalty and a prevailing sense of justice! Kitomyx WELL. Looks like Acid has probably had too much sugar already. =u=

"W-what?" Truths stammered, startled by Acid's sudden positivity toward him. "Don't be silly. It's not as though your life was ever in danger in the first place." With the green colt in high spirits once more, the vermillion one seemed more determined than ever to remain the opposite. He seemed somewhat embarrassed at the other foal's unexpected gratitude.
"Yes, yes, I'm sure," he murmured as Acid mentioned his family. But when the phony's voice trailed off, he frowned and he looked back at his peer. Immediately he wished he hadn't; Acid was giving him a funny look and it was creeping him out. He didn't like it one bit. The words that tumbled from the other colt's mouth next only served to make Truths more uncomfortable.
"Brothers?!" the unicorn cried. "Aren't you taking this a bit too far...? Your verbal thanks is more than enough, really. Why are you talking like that...?!" He began to back away as subtly as he could, pretending to inspect some sweets nearby so as to seem uninterested in what Acid was talking about. "You're overreacting. Any other 'young colt before us' would have done the same."The Semblance of Unity ((XD! Acid's always so adorable.))

"My life perhaps, but my honor was at stake and you upheld it though you had no obligation. I think despite your general bluntness, you're secretly a good guy." If there was one thing Acid Beat knew about Hard Truths, it was that he lived up to his name in every way. Sometimes, Acid even admired that uncompromising nature. As Truths spoke, Acid looked startled, then sad. He had no idea why it made Truths so uncomfortable, the thought of being brothers. Maybe Acid wasn't really that likeable at all.... "You... you don't want to be my brother? O-oh..." His voice trailed off. Acid looked down and scuffed his hoof on the tile below, looking more than a little crestfallen. Kitomyx little short, little later than I planned on posting whoops

"I- well, I - now hold on just a minute - !" Drat. He knew when he first met this phony that something was different about Acid. Talking about colors as sounds...it should have been obvious that this colt was more observant and profound than most phonies, but Truths wouldn't have guessed that that included seeing through one's external facade. He shouldn't have hung around him so much! No, wait; they'd just gotten to know each other! Curse this foal for being so perceptive... Truths decided he should have kept his guard up.
Flustered and unsure of what to reply, he scowled grumpily at the candy before him and managed to retort, "More exaggerations! No phony in their right mind would call me a 'good guy'. I think the scent of all these sweets is going to your brain and making you giddy."
Suddenly the green colt had another unexpected reaction. He seemed saddened by Truths' response to his proposal, though why on earth anyone would have wanted Truths for a brother, the unicorn could not imagine. "Now, you see here! Th-that's not what I said!" he started, turning back to face his peer directly. "I just don't know why you'd want another brother when you already have such a large family. And once we get away from all these sickeningly sugary smells, you might come back down to Earth and realize you made a terrible mistake. I- I just wouldn't want you to regret saying things you don't mean!" he stammered.
One good thing about being red - no one could tell when you were blushing. The Semblance of Unity ((It's all good! XD I love all posts <3 Especially Acid's.))

Acid looked up, clear blue eyes meeting yellow, and he smiled at Truth's stammering voice. The other phony couldn't know, but each stammer was like a laser light of yellow through the grey fog of his voice. "You.... don't not want to be my brother, right? So being brothers wouldn't be bad?" A Note, something akin to happiness, crept into his voice. But from what Hard Truths was saying, it sounded like he thought Acid would... regret extending that offer? "The scent of candy is nothing." He snorted childishly at the notion. As if a scent could addle his brain. Sounds, on the other hand.... He flipped his mane, curls bouncing dramatically. "I know I couldn't regret you being my brother, Truths! Brothers never regret each other. They look out for each other, stick together. You don't have any family, so I confess I worry about you a little bit." Abruptly, his eyes turned lazily dreamy, but only for a moment. He stamped one hoof lightly and looked directly at the red unicorn. "Did you know your voice makes me think of yellow lights through fog? Except if you're angry, then it sounds rustier...." Acid trailed off; he'd gone on a tangent again, oops. He chuckled slightly. Kitomyx Acid is set on being buddies with Hard Truths heheh. Is there any particular direction you want this to go or just ho with the flow?

Acid's smile drew an astonished look from Truths before the unicorn redirected his gaze to the ground at his hooves, more embarrassed than ever. He felt completely transparent in those clear blue eyes. "No..." he mumbled. "That is, no, I don't not want to be your brother," he attempted to clarify. The whole thing was getting a little confusing, but he supposed it was his own fault for being so ambiguous in the first place.
As for whether or not being brothers would be bad, he'd never had one, so he didn't know. He still felt dubious about Acid's kind offer, as if at any moment the other colt would decide to change his mind and retract it.
"They...don't?" the foal asked uncertainly, as if hearing this for the first time, which it was. But as the green phony continued, Truths couldn't help feeling...something. He wasn't exactly sure what to call it. Bewilderment? Affection? Gratitude? Flusterment? It seemed a little of all those things. "Bah! What would you need to worry about me for?" he asked, sounding indignant as he thrust out his chest. "I can take care of myself."
Inwardly, though, he was touched at Acid's concern. He doubted anyone else had ever worried about him for any reason before. "You're the daydreamer. It's you I imagine I'll have to keep watch over, especially with how you get carried away with sounds and colors and - and - bringing candy from home into candy shops!"
He paused to blink quizzically at the dreamy-eyed expression that came over his new 'brother' before Acid lightly stamped a hoof and spoke. Truths could feel his face heat up again, somewhat flattered, though he wasn't even sure why. "You and your abstract concepts..." he murmured, shaking his head. "Maybe that's why it feels like you can see right through me. Regardless," he spoke up louder, "You came in here for a reason, right? Let's find what you're looking for and leave. I don't want that shopkeeper to have to come around and check on us again."The Semblance of Unity ((Aww, Acid. heart I think Truths just found his first true friend. Heaven help the phony who tries to mess with his new brother when Hard Truths' is around. XD I'm always a go-with-the-flow kinda rper, but if you have a plan, I'm in! If you want to end it here, that's fine with me, but I'm also fine with continuing. And we can always start more rps! By the way...does Acid have Kindness yet? Because I think that would work too~ Whoops, he does! I should have known. ^_^; ))
