It was more peaceful here, but only superficially. These damned things still lurked around, and after his conversation with Rojand Amity's skin crawled whenever he got near one of them--and this one had managed to creep up on him unawares. He clocked it with the butt of his gun, hard, and tried to stumble back out of its grasp. Sarviur liked World's Edge, and he was a lot more...uh, militant about attacking the creatures that formed there. One of those monitor ones, again, the ones that spoke in barely coherent sentences. He leapt out at it with both daggers raised, got hit in the face, and fell back before he realized that the person already there was someone he knew. " I follow the Longing Goddess," Sarviur responded. As if to emphasize this, he brought his daggers up and smashed it into its monitor. It exploded into bits: bits that dissipated thankfully far faster than the whole, for they were coming at him at eye level and he did not think he'd appreciate glass (or fog-glass, whatever it was) to the eye. "Only some of us," he sneered. But there wasn't any more scornful enthusiasm in it. He seemed exhausted, like he was just going through the motions of demonstrating his unending superiority. The snappish nerve-jangled Amity was gone somewhere, leaving behind a tired ragged shadow. He was jealous. Faith was comfortable.
