He was actually so busy glaring at her for her lack of sudden, helpful insight that he didn't even, at first, notice the thing shambling up to them with its sad error message chatter. When he did, he ungracefully and with an absolute lack of dignity stumbled backward. Maybe the little flail he performed as he went was an attempt at kicking it. It wasn't a very good attempt. The thing lashed out at him with rather more success. "It bites!" he said, sounding pissed. "Everything bites!" Even the rain bit. Or clawed. Or something. He recovered with a spring as nimble as his initial stumble had been embarrassing, sending the thing sprawling before scuttering away and looking at her expectantly. He gestured at it. Coyote had also backed up, but where he had tried to kick it, she had gone for a punch to the cracked and flicking screen. She missed, which was incredibly embarrassing, then turned a look of pure loathing up to the other gray figure, daring him to comment. If he was wise he would keep his mouth shut. But she didn't think he was that wise. It wasn't actually wisdom that shut him up. It was the sudden awareness that maybe if he kept taunting people for being bad at fighting they'd retaliate, since he was clearly as bad or possibly worse. But at least he had managed to hit it once. Probably the way he kept flinching away from it was part of the problem. Pain was scary. She would have thrown a punch at him, without so much as a second thought, if he had commented. Lucky for him he kept his mouth shut. Unlucky for Coyote, she had been so preoccupied with glaring she didn't realize the damn monster was taking a swipe at her. The blow wasn't exceptionally hard, but it stung like a son of a b***h, and she gave a startled hiss and jerked away from it, one hand pressing against the wound on her opposite arm. "Yes, I have come to realize that everything in this existence is out to get us, with the sole exception being the Goddesses." So far.. "Maybe they're out to get us more than anything," he said bitterly. But he remembered receiving a shaky memory, and remembered the folding up of wings, coaxing it away. "Maybe," he repeated, clipping the thing with his foot before skittering back out of the way. "Maybe.." Coyote conceded, reluctantly. If the Goddess were against them, then what chance in Hell did that have? None. She was going to retain hope for a little while longer, thank you. With a curl of her lips she she pivoted on her left heel and brought her other foot up in a powerful kick that caused the flickering, cracked screen to spiderweb, a few small shards falling from the face. "Does it?" he demanded. He didn't think it felt particularly good at all. Dammit, now she was showing him up. Indignant and feeling distinctly subpar, he steeled himself against the fear of pain and let go with a ferocious kick of his own. Granted, maybe he was helped along by the fact that she'd already dealt such a blow, but the thing teetered, screen shattered, and then fell, sending up a shower of sparks as it splashed into an acidic puddle. "Oh my god," he said, in obvious disbelief. "It worked." Pale eyes rolled, though she did give an encouraging whoop when he landed his own impressive kick and actually shattered the screen, effectively killing it. "Nice shot."
