After their previous success, Reap felt revitalised, on top of their dreary world. He strode through the shadows with a predatory confidence he hadn't displayed before, clenching the glinting red blade that had come from the shard like fragments from their previous quarry.
He was no longer prey but the hunter.
Around his neck hung a strange pendant, glowing blue. It hadn't been there before.
When they were attacked, he leapt into the fray without hesistation.

His friend's heart had changed, after they had brought the Error box down. He was imposing now, more complicated. And he had new colors.
Ironshare was still very yellow, but less plain. His shapes had twisted into strange patterns, his heart arching with wings and spires.
He kept the gem he'd gleaned from the wreckage, on the hunt for shards, when another blue square dragged itself from the fog. He hadn't been afraid last time. Now he was afraid, and he was also ready.
He knew what was coming, and swung a pipe into the side of the box.

A blade in his hands felt familiar. Like an old friend. He brought it down again and again.
The final time, the creature sizzled and sparked.

He pulled the sword out of it and grinned over his shoulder at his friend like a dog that had learned a new fancy trick.

Ironshare grinned back.
"Yeah. We. ...That thing you've got works a hell of a lot better than the bike."
There was more glittering. Ironshare bent, like before, and didn't rise disappointed. "It wasn't using it," he said, holding it up for Rep to see.
"These Error guys keep finding us. Let's find them for a change."

"Sounds good to me." Reap said eagerly. He was having fun. Fun for the sheer sake of itself. He'd been looking for direction and purpose. This was by far good enough.
He bent and gathered the two blue shards with a delighted grin.
