From the deeper shadows of the subway there came a light incongruous with the yellow neon signs and the yellow cores of the inhabitants of the ruins, a flicker of blue and an erratically moving creature that ambled towards the two of them, reaching out in a way that was less than friendly.
Instincts Reap didn't understand seemed to snap into action and he lashed out with a panicked kick at the creature, which stumbled back irritably.

It jumped him.

"It doesn't." he agreed. "What does that mean though?" The curiosity borne of the original gift he'd been given stayed with him but curiosity didn't answer questions.
"It's no ******** nice I guess.." he said as sharp talons raked at his unsteady form. There was something familiar about the blue flashing screen he couldn't place.
It made him deeply, terribly angry.

Ironshare yelped, backing away and shaking the thing off him.
"Aah-augh, it, a-AAaa," he articulated. It was a worse feeling than the rain. He decided he really didn't like it. He thought the computer should know what it felt like. He aimed to strike it with his heel, but just hit junk. Which felt worse. He scrunched up his face and cradled his lower limb.
"It means it's not got a- a solid part. It gets lost and comes apart. Like we used to."

At least one thing was for certain for Reap, he understood this fighting stuff, there was a certain grace and elegance to the way he swung a right hook at the beast and ignored the always flailing talons.
"Hurts like ******** though." Pain was a tricky one. "I don't want to come apart. I don't really want to test if we do or not."

Ironshare backed off for now.
"Y-yeah, see. That's what I'm saying. The goddesses made all the solid stuff, right? Everything that's got...shapes and parts. And they say we can be like them. Be able to make things. If we're like that, nobody can take us apart again. We'd just remake anything that got lost."
He wanted to do something for this guy, so he wasn't getting hit anymore. Pin the thing down. But every time Ironshare got close, he got hit. He looked around. He needed distance. Like another object.
"Who are you?" he asked, pulling that bike from earlier free, and using it to push the thing back. Its clawed feet tore into his legs.

Reap listened to the reasoning and decided his new friend was smart, if they could create, they could never be broken, they would be powerful and there could be no more hurting. Maybe he could even make this world shine, give back the motion that was coiled up potential in the trashed cars and bikes strewn around.
But always the claws were brutal, and there was a sad helplessness as he felt his strength slowly ebb away, a panic that wasn't tied to his own wellbeing.
"Reap." He grunted as he punched the thing right in the screen. "You?"

"Ironshare," he answered. "Are you listening in there? Whatever you are or aren't. We don't like when you do that. Stop doing it. It doesn't feel good, right?"
He pressed the bike down harder.
He didn't have any claws.
"Maybe it likes it."

Something was wrong. Reap noticed almost immediately, when he swung his body felt slow and unresponsive. He ached all over in ways he couldn't remember ever having felt before. This time the claws made the flowing tendrils of his outfit start to fade and flicker.
"Nice to meet you man." he grunted. "Though I think something's up with me."

Ironshare looked over, and felt something like dread.
"You...you falling apart?" He asked. "Why? Is it...?" He lifted the bike, backing away. "Back up, okay? We'll get out of here. Maybe, maybe the not good feelings, maybe they're like...warnings..."
But the creature followed, aggressive.
"You get behind me," Ironshare said, shadowing his way forward and pushing the handlebars into its gut.

Ironshare went after it aggressively, then, using the wheels, the spokes, whatever part of the mangled scrapheap he could.
He wanted to see if some parts were more effective than others in driving home the point.
"We just want you to go away," he told it. "It's not a good listener."
He was starting to feel the same way. Less together.

Reap wasn't a coward, but he got behind Ironshare regardless.
He felt safer, the way he had when he got close to the goddess.
"Why won't it leave us alone?" he asked sadly.

He slumped over. His hands were coming apart.
