± Name: Emmerich ± Pronunciation:EHM-er-rihk ± Name Meaning: From Germanic ric, "power;" first part may come from ermen ("whole, universal"), amal ("work, labor"), heim ("home"), or a combination of the three. The nickname "Emery" inherits the meaning, and may also refer to mineral by the same name, of which can contain a high quantity of magnetite. ± Gender: Male ± Stage: Teen ± Sexuality/Status: Confused / Single ± Height: 5' 8" ± Weight: Much heavier than his frame may suggest, still equipped with metallic sections over a good portion of his body ± Pokémon: Magneton ± Nature: Hasty (bipolar)
± Myers-Briggs Type:INFJ, though conflicted and interchangeable (idealist type, counselor role-variant) ± Personality: A neurotic pokémon with a contradictory set of ideals and traits, Emery's rapid-cycling mood changes make it difficult to pin down more than a vaguely generalized demeanor. Inexperience with the outside world has caused a rift in his social prowess, causing him to come off as abrasive and tactless, even on his good days. He may not always rub others the wrong way, but days tend to come across as isolated events and what was once the label of 'friend' or 'foe' could easily fluctuate. As a general rule, Emery tends to group individuals in one of two groups because of this: those he knows something about, and those he doesn't. He's not one to complain, but prefers to keep topics to everything but himself. On the whole, he enjoys interaction with others much more than isolation, but his manic-depressive disorder keeps partaking in this sort of enjoyment to a minimum. ± Likes: Emery's unstable living arrangements have made way for realizations to occur on likes that he was unaware of until they were out of his control. While this in itself is more likened to a dislike, the results are not. He enjoys being given tasks to do, especially those that are tedious and redundant because of their ability to clear his mind. This hobby stems from his need to feel useful. The magnemite greatly enjoys social interaction, but requires it to be paired with bouts of solitude to offset various aspects of communication. With the constant habit of feeling a need to refocus, change directions of attention, and wanting to do everything at once, he also appreciates the value of time. Emery adores sugar, and the radio has the odd habit of comforting the pokémon. ± Dislikes: Despite his affinity for being around others, there are many faults that keep Emery from fully enjoying socialization, and many dislikes revolve around these separations. The main roadblock that the poké-kid has is his aversion to attention. Stemming from the umbrella principle is his insistence of keeping himself out of the equation, resulting in a lack of analysis, scrutiny, and skepticism, at least as far as he is linked in. A removal of structuring or formulation for physical space as well as developing ideas is a pet peeve of the magnemite's, and wide open spaces makes him nervous. He reacts to his dislikes in a variety of ways that are highly dependent on his mood and frame of mind at the moment they occur. ± Other Quirks: While Emery's quickly cycling bipolar disorder is a defining quirk to the poké-human, his capabilities of temporarily solving the issue may be more so. While it doesn't always click in his mind to take the necessary measures, it is possible to create a "temperament reset" by causing fainting, electrocution, or a very strong dose of surprise. Being of magnetic design, Emery also tends to instantly crush on pokémon of electric and steel types, irregardless of any other factors. He's aware of this fact, and despite tending to look foolish, tries to keep a rein on it.
± Approx. Level: 21 ± Ability: Magnet Pull - Prevents steel-type pokémon from escaping battle, unless holding certain items, and can prevent them from attacking directly for a few turns. When leading the party, steel-type pokémon encounters rise 50% from normal encounter rates.
± Moveset: · Supersonic - learned as pokémon · Sonic Boom - learned as pokémon · Magnet Bomb - learned child stage · Spark - learned child stage · Karma Bond * - learned child stage
*Learned through experimental TM, glitched into a nearly-inaccessible "fifth slot." PP count is currently at 0/0, but started at 1/0 until used in RP "Unexpected reconnections & ramifications."
manic : "pressured speech," easily distracted, bouts of insomnia, feels out of control, states of psychosis (loss of contact with reality, extreme cases), severe anxiety and irritableness/rage depressive : guilt, anxiety, isolation, "loss of interest in usually enjoyable activities," depersonalization under sleep deprivation (feeling of watching oneself act and having no control)

– TheTrainer + Post 6
While Emmerich never had a true trainer, he once considered himself a tamed pokémon through other channels that described the fundamental aspects of what a trainer was. He never had a physical account of a person, but the voice over the factory speakers that gave direction was a pretty good substitute...

As a young pokémon, Emmerich had been caught in the wild and put to work in a factory, providing electrical energy and generation for the area with an array of other such electric-type pokémon. It was a routine affair, and the magnemite was given little in the way of opportunity for anything but providing electricity. His life revolved around his job, toiling not out of choice but out of the knowledge that it helped him survive, no matter how minimal it was. He had everything he needed to progress throughout the days, and enough distraction to keep him from thinking any further on his own situation of being used as pokémon slave labor.
The finding of Jirachi's star found Emery thrust into an entirely alien world, and one he was not prepared to accept.

Well there were those other pokémon that worked in the factory alongside him, but he never really got much opportunity to get to know any of them. They are, however, probably the closest thing Emmerich could get to a loose definition of 'family.'
± Pokémon Name: Magnemite ± Japanese Name: コイル (Coil) ± National PokéDex Number: 81 ± Type: Electric/Steel ± Classification: Magnet Pokémon ± Color: Grey ± Height: 1' even ± Weight: 13.2 lbs. ± Egg Group: Mineral ± Gender Ratio: Genderless ± Habitat: Power plants and areas with an electrical signature
± Abilities: Magnet Pull, Sturdy, or Analytic ± Special Abilities: "...Even though Magnemite and its evolved forms are mechanical creatures, the anime has shown that it has emotions and a way of reproducing. It has even exhibited the need to eat, although its main form of nutrients is electrical currents... Despite its modern, artificial appearance, it has been seen in carvings depicting Magnemite have been discovered at the Ruins of Alph, indicating they have existed for at least 1,500 years.
The magnetic units on Magnemite's body create electromagnetic waves that allow it to defy gravity and can potentially disrupt electrical equipment. Magnemite is not known to be unnecessarily aggressive, but may approach trainers with little notice. It can be attracted to anything emitting electricity or a magnetic field, including gadgets such as a Pokétch. It has even been shown to be attracted to electric Pokémon producing such fields..."

Pyry - He's got a lot more patience and understanding than what Emery initially pinned him for. His infatuation with bells is a little strange, but it's nothing that the magnemite couldn't relate to. Pyry's enthusiasm was nice, but at times a little overbearing. At least he was able to help the snow child out, but now Emery needs some way to convince his new friend that he is not a thief, and by extension, a hypocrite... First Seen: Child (Both) || Last Seen: Teen (Pyry) / Child (Emmerich)
Lorne - While Emery wasn't given much of a chance to get to know the boy under the charade, it was apparent that they were on opposing sides of the fence... so to speak. If Emery held grudges, Lorne would be a prime candidate. First Seen: Child (Both) || Last Seen: Child (Both)
Briar - Emery couldn't get over how adorable the pachirisu was, and that was where all the problems seemed to originate. They were able to help one another on the path toward skill-building, and for that the boy is grateful, but... the personal boundaries... Oh gods, hedidn'tmeantokissher! After the power plant fiasco, Emmerich has acted upon a vagrant's way of life. With his poor decision-making skills, it is likely to stay this way unless someone discovers how one can be simultaneously assimilated into and isolated from society.

Emmerich never keeps what he can't carry on his own person. Storage is not an option, he insists, so anything the magnemite has long-term will likely be of some significance as much as it will be generally handheld. He's pretty decent at creating makeshift satchels and bags to carry things if needed, though.
± Scrap Fabric: Used as a means to solve a number of problems, Emery has also fastened a bag to carry other things out of one of the larger pieces. The fabric has seen use mostly in small task means and busywork, both helpful and not. The pieces would see more useful function, but the boy tends to be careful about not tearing things.
± Portable Radio: It's mostly broken and can't hold a charge, but the portable radio is an item that Emery has not considered leaving without. A channel to the world on the inside of society, the pokémon mainly keeps it around because it can have the effect of calming him down when stressed or frazzled. He uses his own abilities to keep the electronic contraption working.
± Pyry's Bell: One of many, from when the cryogonal-child was forcibly shoved into dropping a box of them by a rude passerby. Emery was sure he had helped recover them all... but apparently missed one. He found it after Pyry had already gone on his way, and is looking to return it before he's labeled the thief he was teasing Pyry of being when they first met.
