Malus had been reading a manga when the lights went off. The preteen jumped up and listened to the message. A hatchling had escaped and it stole eggs! That was the sort of thing a villain would do wasn’t it? She didn’t stop to pounder why the manifest would do such a thing as she ran out of her room only slowing down enough to grab her apple before speeding off to find the missing manifest and recuse the eggs. Why? Because that was what magical girls do!

She stopped to look around, she hadn’t wander around the dimension a lot by herself and unfortunately it seemed that she had been paying more attention to finding the eggs then to where she was going and ended up getting herself lost. It looked like people where listening to the

announcement, she hadn’t seen many people outside as she was running.
Seeing a pair of manifests around her own physical age walk by the street she was on she hesitated for a moment, thinking before running up to them. The announcement had said that there was only one manifest on the loose and said that it was a good idea to stay in groups, something she hadn’t done. Which meant it was unlikely that either of these people where the egg thief. Plus it didn’t look like they were carrying anything.

“Have you guys found anything? Seen anyone suspicious or found any clues or eggs?” She asked excitedly. This was the first time something like this had happened, while it wasn’t a good thing she couldn’t help but feel excited. Maybe she would finally figure out how to transform or something cool like that.

Malus grinned as the other girl returned her enthusiasm for the current situation. “Well what I heard from one of those loud speaker things under the flashing lights was that a Hatchling Manifest, which they think might be toxic, escaped the lab and took a bunch of eggs!” She paused for a moment thinking of what the clues might look like. “Well, anything out of the ordinary I suppose, Oh! The announcement thing said there might be robberies; those would definitely be a clue!”

It wasn’t until the other girl introduced herself that Malus realized she had bombarded them with questions before introductions, oops. “It’s nice to meet you, Nadia and Aidan. My name’s Malus. Me too! Meeting people is fun.” She said, returning to a normal talking speed instead of speaking at fifty two miles per hours. “So where do you guys think we should look first?” she asked curiously.

“Yeah that would be awesome!” Malus cheered ready to half run half skip down the street to stores to check it out with them. They could find the manifest and save the eggs! It would be great and then they would be heroes!

She stopped and turned around Aiden clear his throat and began to talk. “Hmm well they said possibly toxic so it might not be? It could be like a snake manifest or something. Who knows what it could do to the poor eggs if no one tries to find them. Even if we find clues there isn’t a guarantee that we will run into the manifest.” She paused for a moment; they really didn’t know much about what was going on. “If we do run into it, it might not attack if we don’t attack first, right?” And besides there was three of them and only one of it, how hard could it be to take it down in a fight?

Malus couldn’t help but bounce on her heels as the boy said that they could go, it was so much more fun looking for clues and catching bad guys with a group! She was about to ask which way they should go to start looking for clues when they started asking her about her apple.

“The apple? I all ways have it with me!” She paused to take a breath before answering the other questions. “I don’t know what it does really. Yup, it’s special, I hatched with it. The techs at the dreamery said it was key to my powers or something!” She giggled a bit. “It’s fine. I can’t wait till I hit age mates and can start using it!”

“I guess not” Malus replied to Aidan’s comment about her apple. “But I’m sure we will be fine” she said cheerily. She turned to Nadia and grinned “Yeah! It’s going to be so much fun beating up bad guys with my powers! I’m sure you will be able to do something cool!”

“Hmm? Oh yeah! That sounds good, let’s go! Time to find some leads” She cheered as she started skipping down the street. Keeping her pace relatively slow so, she didn’t accidentally leave the others behind. It only took a few minutes for the group to reach the area the stores where in.

"Yeah I guess we'll be fine too. We can take him" Aidan said, chuckling a little at the end. He was beginning to like the new girl, her spunk was infectious. Maybe hanging out with her wasn't so bad. He might even get a new friend out of this, his first ever really. It wasn't easy for him to talk to people, but it was getting easier to talk to Malus. This was promising. He followed her all the way to the stores and patiently waited for a decision on where to go next.

"Oh my gosh I can't believe I'm friends with a future superhero!" Nadia exclaimed. She followed behind Malus, practically running to the stores. When they got there, Nadia didn't even know where to start. "So what would a toxic manifest want to shop for....oops. I mean steal?"

Off to the side, away from the shops, the twins - or one of them, anyway - is able to see a large oblong item that is brightly colored but seems to be covered in black splotches and they're growing and seeping in a cracked looking fashion along the side of it. They can feel something discomforting radiating off the egg.

Malus doesn't see anything. She can't even quite feel the discomfort radiating off the egg, but if she got closer she could.
