An Open Letter to SDRP.

Dear SDRP,

We find ourselves in a rather disagreeable state, that is, we’re at a stand-still. So many broken dreams scatter the forums it is hard to step through without gaining a shard in one’s foot from all the explosive destruction brought about by negligence and withdrawal. Yet, it was a slow explosion, a writhing if you will, that brought us to where we are today, which is quite possibly nowhere. This is rather unfortunate.

I believe it is time to change that, and in an effort to realize this guild in its full unbridled glory it will take more than myself to bring about the necessary changes to make this guild a lively place again.

Would you join me?

Yes, I’m asking you, dear members of SDRP, to bring about change and direction within our once-fruitful guild to make it so again! We have a -suggestion box- for discussion, with better details on my current vision, which I hope to make your vision, or if your vision is better, than to make your visions known! We must all share in this process so that we can begin anew, to give the up-and-coming roleplayers of Gaia a place to ply their skills without judgment or reprimand, to make them better so that they can experience the joys of thinking in someone else’s head in another’s world for a day.

I won’t lie, it’s a tough job that I have balked at for several months (if you notice, I’ve been active in my one-on-one’s for the past few months while the guild has died), and I am intimidated by the task at hand, which is to clean and tidy and make the guild presentable while at the same time attracting the legions required to both run and populate this project.

But this is not my project, or rather, it shouldn’t be, it should be ours. As both mentors and students, masters and apprentices, we should express a solidarity in the foundation of teaching those who want to learn while learning from the very same. Which is what this letter is about.

This is the call to arms to any who would hear it, any who so wishes to see a place of many roleplays of any variety with people getting along and helping each other build and expand, create, new ideas! This is not revolutionary by any means, but by providing an friendly environment for the lost masses, we can achieve a community that borders, no, revels, in greatness.

Will you join me?

With Due Respect,
Jikial and Admiral Frog

P.S. I apologise.

This thread is for you, the still-breathing members of SDRP, to give suggestions and feedbacks for and to changes that will be taking place in the SDRP guild.

I'm new at this, so please be gentle, and to be frank, I have little idea of where to start, other than cleaning old threads.

So, while I dredge up things for us to change and revise, I'll provide a basic BULLETED LIST OF PROGRESS of how I THINK this might work, and you guys who care to participate can do as the title says and suggest. As well as comment/criticise/party.

BULLETED LIST OF PROGRESS

- Clean up old threads in SDRP.

- Put a halt to the "Academy" function of SDRP (sorry guys)

- Recruit good and active crew members to help start other projects

- Other projects to include; Formal/informal roleplay tutoring, roleplay revisionary work, writing (general) work, workshops involving character and world building, workshops for roleplay etiquette, advanced workshops in roleplay systems.

- Eventually, with enough active crew members and regular members, may culminate in bringing back the "Academy" function and give a "formal" place to learn roleplaying in a roleplay setting.

- Think of ways to get this place lively again.

- Need active crew to do such things as events, keep most events short and sweet to avoid the Summer Event Incident (hehe, I get to name history).

- Guild "challenges" that result in little more than bragging rights, but are still fun.

- Reorganizing the guild to enforce more coherence as well as simplifying/nixing some of the rules of what it takes to make a roleplay. Have a better understanding of what it means to be LEVEL 1, 2, and 3.

- Establish a "recruitment" thread in the Gaia forums to get more members.

.....So that's what I got on that.

I suppose my most pressing concern is that I need more crew to get more things moving, namely myself.

So...

I'll get back to you guys on that, let the suggestions begin!

For the record, I didn't send this over the mule because somehow the mule isn't able to run anything anymore despite being the owner/captain.

Which is a shame. I don't know how this happened, might need to ask a GAIA MOD about it, so the mule can get back up and running.

I have recently just got back on gaia. I know I check this guild more so than others. I have enjoyed the people I have met her. Most have become friends and most have become people I can talk to if I don't have someone out in my real life. The ones I know aren't judgmental. We all have our issues. I would love to see this guild revived. If you need help with anything let me know.

I, too, have just resurfaced. Was never popular here, but I'm very interested! No suggestions, though. Sounds like you have a handle on things. xd

I was away for while, but came back recently and noticed as well that this guild has fallen. I'm ashamed, and am here to help in any means possible. ^.^

I only joined during the fall of the guild although I see the guild has high potential. I wish to see this guild rise once again and I am willing to do anything to help in any way.

I have been part of this guild for a while, even achieving most of my posts for the elocutionist achievement here, and I would like to see it live once more.

I've been on and off for awhile, and really miss some of the really good RPs I found when I first joined.

I do have a suggestion though: I happened to see a handful of RPs that are very similar in vein to each other. Not that it's a bad thing, but why don't we try to branch out from our comfort zones?

We tend to stay to the 'safer' stories, the more common genres. But there is so much out there to work with.

I would love to see more diversity in RPs in this group.

To whom it may concern,

I don´t think I have much of a right to speak up in this discussion, for my atcual ativity within the group is equal to none; nonetheless I still desire to aid this cause.

I firmly beleive that a change is required in order to bring back the glorious days this guild once had- or so I believe; but, if we are to cease the academy function this place it would be almost as if we took an esence from, the whole. I have this firm belief since the whole "academy" concept was what brought me into this place.

Furthermore, I think it would be wise not to recruit people just yet. The amount of gaians lingering within the mambers list is far from finished, so I beleive we could add more members once we are in order to accomplish all of our functions succesfully.

Lastly, I would like to personally congratulate you for your efforts in order to heal this organization and thank youu for your attention. Wether or not you take into consideration the points established earlier, I am more than pleased to fully compromise to the cause.

Sincerely,

Hishiro Nakamura

I'll admit, I haven't been very active in the guild. I mostly stuck with the tutoring thread, to try and find a tutor, and was disappointed that most of the tutoring threads seemed so out of date that I didn't bother to respond, or that I didn't receive an answer when I tried.

I am interested, though, to help this guild live up to its full potential.

do we have open RP area? or how about an introduction area that has to be atleast 5 paragraphs with 8-10 sentences in each paragraph telling us about your RP character? not physical descriptions, background, childhood, hopes, dreams, fears, areas of study, how you got any powers you may have, how you faced being different if you had powers. how your view the world. why do you view it that way

i think once people have a place to RP then they will

For me, over the past couple of months have been eventful, yet I still do my best to try and post in Roleplays that I have, and in the process of fixing up an old idea. But I would love to, and hope, to have this guild revived.

This guild helped me so much when I was wanting to become a good roleplayer. I might not be there just like that, but I have gotten so much better because of some of the help I have gotten from this amazing guild.

So yes, I would like to help out in any way to get this guild back into working order.

I have not posted for a long time. I have been kinda dissapointed in the rpg's I been in the past. They always seem to die. I know I need help in rping and working out my characters. I want to improve and yet was lost in all the stuff that was going on in my life to really do anything. I need a challenge and I hope this is it. Yet I won't be on as much on the net as I used to be due to both personal and work issues, but hope to help out.

Inexperienced and disorganized as I am, I'm more than happy to lend a hand somehow.
