I heard that this rumour is actually false. Not too surprising, since Hopkins was such an iconic Hannibal I'm not sure how they would be able to work him into a Hannibal script where he wasn't playing him.

I can't find anything saying it's a falsehood. I heard that Anthony Hopkins and David Tennant were both locked down and that David Bowie was still up in the air.

Ya know, I first figured it was a false rumor, but then I sort of convinced myself that it could be possible. I mean, look at how many big Hollywood movie star names are appearing on regular network TV nowadays. Laurence Fishburne, Keifer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon... I told myself it was actually possible that Anthony Hopkins might make an appearance.
I'm a little bit disappointed now." :<
