He's very soft spoken, with an almost endless font of patience, and an open attitude about life. He's trying actively to keep himself from having panic attacks like he did as a child by mediating and pouring his worries into studying, though sometimes he will break down if overwhelmed.

Child Entry - #1 (Entry for Rehome)

Aatami slogged his drenched socks through the muddy undergrowth, picking at every little bush in a vain search for his shoes. The latest storm had washed out a good deal of his clothing, mostly because he chose to hoard what he had in a neat little box by the only door in the tree house, and now…well, it was an open man hunt for his sneakers.

Every little noise in the forest caused the Eevee to jump. His ears were perpetually plastered to his head, back arched and quivering as his eyes darted to every little twitching leaf. It wasn’t right; nothing about this was right! He should have been coddled up in his warm house, listening to Rai’s singing and watching his sister get into more tro- Aatami jumped, spinning his entire body in the muck, arms cast out defensively over his face.

Where was Truffles? She said she would stay close, but he couldn’t see his sister anywhere. Even since he’d been poisoned his world had turned asunder. First the sickness, then the “change” and now they were homeless! As he picked through a bush, shivering and bemoaning his situation, Aatami thought on his dear sister. She wouldn’t be telling him to look for his shoes; she’d tell him just to suck it up and find new ones. There was never any backtracking with his twin, and it was the one thing they fought most on. He was always comfortable where he was; preferring to leave the status quo unchanged and bask in the light. Truffles needed more. Every little jog became a race, and life never seemed to have enough energy to give her.
Aatami stood, and grasped the ends of his ears in his hands, subconsciously worrying at the edges in an effort to better relax himself. He had to find Truffles, shoes or no shoes, that much was sure. What if she came up to a burly Ursaring, and demanded a duel? The thought got a little chortle out of the stressed Eevee. “She’d probably even call him a pansy, and ask him where he kept his dress.” As much as he worried over her, that part of Truffles had always been the most endearing to him. He didn’t envy her, but had rather come to depend on his sister starting the fights, and he coming in to tend to her wounds. She would regail him with her tails of the day, and he would fluff her pillows with a little melody.

Maybe they could get back to that kind of life soon. Aatami didn’t know how many more days he could stand living in this mess, but he would, for her. He picked his way through the drenched trees, by passing a root system for a tree nearly as big as Rai’s house! Some day he would have to bring Truffles here. She would most likely try to climb the vines that scaled the thick trunk, but it was just her thing.

Truffles just didn’t go back. She lived in the moment, and that’s what Aatami needed to move on, whether he realized it or not. He still had a tendency to dwell on their breeder, and of the life they had before, but maybe…maybe trying things out Truffles’ way for a change wouldn’t be that bad.

Child Rehoming Double Entry with Truffles!

Aatami pulled his large ears in against his head as a crack of thunder permeated the forest. The child took deep, albeit shaking breaths as he attempted to count back from ten. It seemed that every night they spent away from home the nights became longer, and the terrors only mounted. When the thunder itself had subsided, he picked up his bucket and slogged back into the tree house.

The term “house” itself was used roughly. They were in a tree, yes, and they had a floor, but stability was lacking in every form. Their entry way had no door at all, and the roof, which he just knew had mud on it, was leaking horribly. He slipped in, going straight for his sister, and left his empty bucket next to the others, most of which were full.

Truffles had paused to gawk out one of the open windows, holding the ragged curtain to the side in a tight grip. She had a mix of fear and awe on her face as she watched the lightening streak across the sky. She had seen storms before, but, before, she'd been able to watch from within the safety of a warm house. Now... She gasped at another crack of thunder, leaning back from the window before leaning forward again. Cool....
When she heard her brother return, she hurriedly pitched the water from one bucket out the glassless window, so that he wouldn't see she had paused. "The storms seem a lot different from what I remember," she said lightly, looking at her nervous brother with a grin. "Do you remember them being so wet?"

“I don’t really remember them at all.” Aatami’s ears were still folded against his head, his breathing just now starting to return to a regular rhythm. The boy was downright miserable; from the fretting mood to the heavy tail that slung water onto the bags of his legs whenever he walked. “…Aside from hiding in a cupboard until they passed away.”

If only he had a cupboard now. He snatched up another bucket, and started to lift…only to sit it back down nearly as soon as he’d picked it up. “Why do they just…keep getting…heavier…” Aatami grunted. His frail hands wrapped around the handle, and the boy dragged water across the slick floor.
Truffles perked her ears, looked over at Aatami, and snorted. "They wouldn't seem so heavy if you weren't so scrawny," she muttered, lifting up another filling bucket to dump out. Not that she enjoyed lifting and tossing buckets around all night just to keep their little tree house from flooding and soaking through. She missed the warm cushion she'd had in her own corner back at the house.

She bit her lip, thinking about how they would probably have just been finishing up a nice warm meal about now. Getting cozy on the couch, listening to singing... Stiffening her jaw, she gave the water a harsh throw outside. They didn't have any of those comforts anymore. No point in wishing for them. "Just keep going. We can't let the house fall apart any more than it already is."

Aatami’s ears fell, and he looked down at himself. With his clothes wet... yeah, he did look kinda scrawny. Huffing silently, rather dismayed, he dragged the bucket along and tipped it out the door. He’d never had to do anything like this when he’d been in his previous form... Fingers, toes, arms, face... It was bad enough that he had to change, but to add this wreck of a home on top of it? It was hard enough figuring out how to stand on two legs! At least he still had his silky tail...
Truffles looked over at her brother, and felt her ears tip down. He really hated this... She looked down at herself as well. She still had the fluffy tail and long ears, but other than that, she was more human and eevee. Once she had realized she was still herself, she loved the development. Hands! There was so much to do with hands! She wiggled her fingers and smiled. Fingers were funny things... She watched them grip another bucket handle and lift, and then watched the bucket split from the handle, splashing the water everywhere... “That bucket was ugly anyway,” she grumped, tossing it out the window before picking up another water-filled container.

The siblings kept vigil all night, Truffles often pausing to watch the storm, and Aatami pausing often to hide from the crackling thunder. But, together, they made it through to a bright morning in one piece. Together, the siblings knew that they could do anything.

Child PD - Meeting with Eliot!

Aatami balanced two buckets on the end of a long branch, and settled them over his shoulders. Today was his day to gather fresh drinking water, which wasn’t fun at all for the little Eevee. He always came out of it worse off than before, with water all over him and bruises…but not today! Today he would fill both of the buckets and make his sister proud.

Mostly, if not entirely, used to the feel of his bare feet on the slick leaves, he passed through the forest towards a lake he hadn’t been to before. If luck was on his side for once, he might even be able to fish!

Eliot had been resting against a tree when he spotted Aatami. He had taken to spending time here when things at home got too much. He had hoped the magikarp in the lake would recognize noms, but they hadn't. He had been able to coax a few to the surface, and those had fled in fear for their lives. He couldn't blame them, really. "Do you need help?" He asked. The eevee boy did look awkward with those buckets over his shoulder.

Aatami jumped and spun around, flinging one bucket clear off the pole and into a nearby bush. He watched it for a second before turning his eyes towards the other….boy near the tree. His heart thumped out an erratic rhythm against his rib cage. “I-I-I didn’t….” Oh jeez, he’d thought he was a goner, for sure!

Taking a deep breath to steady his nerves, Aatami shook his head, then paused. “Oh, no, thank you, but…well…If you wouldn’t mind, you can help me carry them back? They’re empty now, but the buckets will be a lot heavier with water in them.”

Eliot had to snicker, this boy certainly was jumpy, wasn't he? "I wouldn't mind," he said. "My friends in the lake aren't very talkative today." Or maybe he was expecting too much? He did live with Brenny, after all. Maybe the celebi's optimism was rubbing off on him. "My name's Eliot. Sorry I scared you, I was glad to have someone to talk to."

“Your friends?” Were there more kids that looked like him in the lake? He wouldn’t be surprised, given all that Aatami had seen these past few months. “It’s alright, I’m just jumpy.” Aatami gave a hesitant smile, trying to his best to get over the shock. “My name’s Aatami, and I’d be happy to talk to you, since you’re helping me do chores.”

It was the least he could do, really, since Eliot was going to be carrying a bucket of heavy water for him! “Why won’t your friends talk to you?”

"The magikarp," Eliot gestured to the lake. "Before I changed, my brother caught me. He had me stay here until I did, but since then I haven't gotten them to realize its me. They think I'm human." He looked down at himself and grinned. He didn't think he looked much like a human at all. "They think anything with legs is human, I think." He paused and flashed Aatami a smile. "Nice name. If Brenny were here, he'd say having each other's name made us friends. "He's my brother. Do you have any siblings?"

“Oh.” That was so sad. He couldn’t imagine being so close to your friends, but so far all at the same time. “Just give them time. If you keep coming around, and just talk to them I’m sure they’ll come around.” At least, Aatami hoped so.

The Eevee laid his branch to the side, grabbed the bucket he still had and went over to the bush for the one that had escaped, keen on walking on to the lake. “He sounds nice, though, I don’t think just having a name makes friends. You can know someone’s name and not know them at all.” He mused sadly, thinking of the breeder who had abandoned Aatami and his twin. Still, when he got back up, he was smiling. “Yes, I do. Her name is Truffles, and she’s my twin sister. Actually, she’s probably waiting on me to get home…So, would you mind if we got to work?”

Eliot nodded, "That's what I'm hoping for," he said. "Maybe if I brought something they like to eat. That's how Brenny caught me. If I bring something, maybe they'll talk to me and realize I'm one of them." He paused, blinking. He hadn't thought of that, but he figured the eevee was right. As long as he had known Mei, he didn't feel he knew her very well. He always felt as if their relationship was fragile like blown glass. If he said the wrong thing, he wasn't sure what would happen. "I think I've heard about her," he said. "Brenny met her. I hope he was nice." He nodded at the eevee boy and moved towards the lake. "Ready?"

"Maybe," Aatami wasn't so sure this was going to pan out, but then again, he didn't have many friends. "Really? I could say the same about Truffles." He chuckled, and nodded, already starting the walk. As he came up closer to the lake, Aatami waded out into the chilly water, resisting the urge not to curl his legs up and shrink back to land. He dipped the bucket in the clearest spot he could find, and hustled back out, doing a little dance on shore.

Child Entry - Reaction to Growth

Long after the fact that he forcibly removed from his twin, Aatami had been given a chance to think. Since meeting Lyla he’d come to imagine her as a pseudo sister, since she was so close to the real thing. They were strong, duty minded young women who didn’t let tears or set backs hold them from their goals. He admired that tenacity, he really did, and it was what was keeping him going.

He’d seen a few wild Eevee roaming about, happily playing chase with one another as their parents, two Leafeon, watched from nearby. Aatami had watched them for a little longer than he’d meant to, even though he was supposed to be gathering firewood. Being a breeders Eevee, he had never known the forest or what it held, at least, not in a free kind of way. Life had been a lot easier then. He was pampered, Aatami knew that now, but he still couldn’t get over how much one change could have affected him.

His growth had made him “different” from the other Eevee, but at least it had kept him close to Truffles. They were both freaks in the eyes of the others; far from normal, but too normal to be different. Trying to walk had been the hardest thing he’d ever tried. There were times now that Aatami found himself trying to walk on four legs, though they were few and far between. His instincts were still on the level of Poke’mon, but after an adjustment he’d found he liked wearing cloths far more than stealing them from his breeder to sleep on.

Still, he was glad it had happened when it did. Had it come after the shock of finding himself homeless the first time he may have cracked, but as it stood the act had kept Truffles close to him. She showed him how to go on, how to made this whole thing positive, and now that he watched the Eevee play he knew he had to keep that energy going.

Grabbing his bundle of wood, the young Eevee boy moved through the woods back to Lyla.

Child Entry - Aatami learns Swift!

Aatami ran with all of his might down the subtle incline, sliding with bare feet in the ditch below. He crouched to hide from preying eyes and only looked up when he felt safe. The child was no longer afraid to run through the woods for fear of attack, but when he’d stumbled across a herd of twitter pated Stantler he’d high tailed it out. His fears were realize when the Stantler chased after him, barreling through the brush that he was barely able to climb over.

He couldn’t hide, that was for sure. They had passed him, but that didn’t mean they wouldn’t find him. Aatami crouched, brushing his lengthening hair away from his brow. The child crouched down to grab a big stick and held it tight to his chest. If they came for him, he’d be ready!

And come they did. First one, who then bellowed to his brethren, making the fur on the back of Aatami’s neck stand on end. He brandished his stick with a big ‘hi-ya!’ like a sword. Now that he was in this ditch there wouldn’t be much of an escape route, and certainly not with all of them coming after him like that! Gulping the boy looked around. Something…something…What would his books tell him? They would say he should have stayed in the library instead of trying to leave early and ask Lyla to go fishing with him. They would have told him that it was a fools errand to go looking for a girl who knew this forest better than he did! Okay, so, what would Truffles tell him? RUN. While sound advice, he wasn’t in a position to do that anymore. The herd was charging! A few were brushing their antlers against trees, snorting and pawing at the ground with their great cloven hooves. Aatami felt as if his heart were going to jump into his lungs. His knees were weak, palms were sweaty, and this stick was nothing more than that; just a stick held by a boy too scared to run.

Scared? Was he? He’d been scared his entire life! Aatami couldn’t name but a hand full of times that he had stood his ground, and by golly, today would be one of them! He wasn’t going to run from them since he had done absolutely nothing wrong. So, with a deep, heavy exhale, he rammed his stick into the ground and used the motion to jump into the air for a spinning jump.

There had been time for battle training during his time in the woods, and certainly he had moves from his days with his breeder. Aatami might have looked weak, but he knew his stuff! And today…today he was going to use the one move he’d been trying to master for years! The one his breeder had waited on so patiently, that Truffles hadn’t done yet (to his knowledge) and the one that he loved the most.

A great spray of stars came from his attack and sailed for the Stantler herd, cutting through their numbers as they cried out. Aatami landed on his feet, and performed a few more acrobatic maneauvers, each utilizing Swift before high tailing out of there. While the group stayed confused he ran through a stream, effectively cutting off his scent from the group and ducked in the nearest bush across the way. His adrenaline was so high that the bush shook and despite his fear he couldn’t quite get the grin off his face.

Teen rp - Response to growth with Lyla!

Lyla was lost in thought as she trudged back from where she'd met Kenley, her arm was in her awkward makeshift sling from the fall from the tree and aching though she did stop at one point to find more leaves to help the pain, chewing on some as she plodded along. Her bow was broken, she was crap at fishing...she'd have to have Aatami show her. At least she'd had time to teach him to hunt, and stuff recently. There was a tired sigh from her as she got closer to camp. She was exhausted really, and had nothing to show for her time out hunting but an injury and a lack of her favorite weapon. Peachy.

Aatami grumbled as he rolled onto his back in his "tent", which was little more than a tarp held up by twine. He had it mostly covered up in leaves so that it would blend and it kept him warm, which was all that really mattered to him. Lyla had been gone longer than he'd expected and since the Eevee hadn't felt well he went down for a nap...only to have it stretch on for several hours. Now that he heard noises approaching the camp he stretched, ignoring the odd tightness in his clothing as he moved to crawl out of the tent. "Lyla?" Aatami called out, pausing when he heard him. Did he have a cold..?

It was getting dark and there was no fire going. She felt bad for being gone so long, having said she would be back soon with food. She'd instead been gone far longer than she meant to. At least they were by the river, maybe they could fish and get some food. She could hear Aatami calling out to her and frowned some. He sounded different. Was he getting sick? "It's me, sorry I was gone so long. I didn't get any food, I'm sorry. I can hunt up some berries if you want?" she was rubbing a hand over her eyes lightly ,to rub the tiredness she felt away. She was worn out and the leaves that made her arm stop hurting were making her feel sleepy too.

Aatami covered his mouth as he yawned. "It's alright, I'll grab a pole and see if I can't catch something in the river." He crawled out into the open and with a lack of fire he groaned. "Sorry, I let the fire go out again...You'd think I'd learn." Aatami tried to chuckle. "Just take a rest and let me handle it. You sound pretty beat." He reached out for a pack of worn matches, struck up a flame and started to coax out a fire. There was something off about him that made him think he was seriously coming down with something. Pneumonia? Or a cold? Everything felt off, like he was looking down at things from a stool. When he finally got the fire built up he brushed his hands on his thighs and noticed tears in his clothes. Clothes that used to fit him loose...Was swelling part of his symptoms?

"It's okay, I've done it a few times too." she gave a tired yawn and a wry laugh. "I am. I got into an argument with a guy I ran into...my fault. I sort of accidentally shot him with one of my arrows while hunting...and fell out of a tree and broke my bow and hurt my arm. But I'll be okay it's just sore." she was trying to keep him from panicking! Her night vision wasn't the best and so it wasn't until she was taking a drink from the canteen of water as the fire came to life that she noticed anything was off. Then proceeded to choke on the water and coughed and spluttered a moment. "Ah.....Aatami?" how wide her eyes were as she stared at him in near horror.
just now

He sighed and shook his head. Being surprised with her at this point was an impossibility; she reminded him so much of Truffles that it was crazy! "You'll at least let me look at it tomorrow, right? And...maybe try not to shoot people?" They would need to fix her bow, or maybe find a new one..."Hmm?" Noticing her reaction his breath caught. Fearing it was something to do with her arm, Aatami moved closer to her, tripping on his own feet in the process. What was wrong with him?! "Lyla? What's wrong?"

"It was an accident. He was hiding in a tree, and I thought he was actually something I could shoot for food. I took care of his shoulder though." she gave a wry smile. "Yeah you can look at it in the morning. My bow is useful for firewood now. I'll try trading for a new one. I've had some luck with that whole bartering thing lately after all." but it was him coming closer that had her backing up a little, only to trip over a rock and fall hard on her butt. "Is that really you Aatami!? What...what happened to you!?" he looked...nothing like he did when she left earlier!

Aatami frowned and looked down at his...arms...were lighter? Giving a little squeak he scrambled for his tent and pulled out the mirror he used to cut his hair with. The teenager felt another rip in his clothes that was followed by a piece of his sleeve falling to the ground. Feeling his chest tighten he moved towards the fire and looked at himself in the reflective glass.

Or what should have been himself. She was right; he didn't look a thing like his old self. His skin was lighter, but his hair was darker, and longer at that! Turning his head to the side he noticed with alarm that he had not only grown physically, but he had evolved. Shakily he reached up to touch his bright green ears. "Is this normal? I-I haven't read anything about this...I-I-I don't...Oh no." He moaned, pulling the skin down around his now brown eyes with growing panic.

Lyla was picking herself up off the ground with a groan, rubbing her sore arm slightly as she moved to sit on one of the rocks around their little campsite, watching him with fascination a moment. "Aatami...deep breath...let me think a moment."

It was fortunate she'd just met the shiny silcoon, and she gave a smile. "You know, the guy I shot? He's a shiny silcoon...like us, I think evolving for us is still normal. I guess you had the means to change into a Leafeon somewhere on you."

She got up and moved around to look at him, studying him. "You got taller than me!" she huffed playfully and whacked him on the shoulder with the flat of her hand. "You're okay really. It's okay!" there was a shift from her and she hugged the teen with a smile. What more could she do than that, really?

Aatami tried to follow her instructions, but he was finding it more difficult by the moment. He dropped the mirror into the dirt and sat back on his butt, curling his arms around his legs. If Lyla didn't even recognize him, how would Truffles? And Chism? How would he ever get back to them now?

"You've.." He started, but stopped as he tried to chock back a sniffle. Aatami rubbed his eyes with his fist. "You've got to stop saying that with a smile. Shooting people isn't normal." Still, he had to give thought on the whole situation. What did he...? "When I to sleep, I wasn't feeling well and I heard a crack in my stone..." Digging around in his pocket he pulled out what was left of his necklace; a cord and a single shard of his leaf stone. He had placed it there so the weight wouldn't hit his chest as he cleaned he fire pit. Now he held onto the shard desperately.

"Hey!" Aatami rubbed his shoulder, more out of instinct than actual pain. He hugged Lyla back, despite his shock and emotional turmoil. It was something he needed, regardless of how odd it was, coming from her. "Oh, hey, I guess they can't keep me from applying to the University now." The one upside to all of this was now that age wasn't an issue the University Aatami had tried to get into multiple times couldn't find a reason to keep him away. He would be able to finally continue his studies!

She had no clue the turmoil he had over being able to find the people he was wanting to find again, and even if she had there wasn’t much she could have done to ease his worries unfortunately. As much as she would have tried, and likely failed to do so.

“What? Oh, I wasn’t smiling about shooting him though with his bad attitude I’m surprised no one had sooner…” she was teasing of course. Looking down at what he pulled from his pocket and studied it. “I guess that was what did it…I’m not familiar on what it takes for an eevee to evolve.” She was looking at the shard wondering what he would do with it.

Knocking him out of his worries a little made her smile and she rested a hand on his shoulder. “That sounds like a good idea, and that will help you try to find your friend and sister again too won’t it? Being stuck in one spot with me isn’t very good for searching for people. I’ll help you get new clothes before you go. Either by trading, or stealing them for you.” She didn’t care which, the guy needed clothes!

"To tell you the truth, I'm not really either." He turned the stone around in his fingers. "When I was still a Poke'mon our breeder kept us from evolving so we could become what our trainers wanted. Left us more versatile, I guess." Out of everything he wasn't exactly surprised in the evolution. Most of his life had been spent in the woods, learning techniques and tricks to surviving with the thriving fauna. It only made sense, but not as to why he evolved in the first place. Surely he wasn't strong enough for that...

Aatami nodded, and wiped back his tears with a small smile. "Hopefully it will. The more money I can make the easier it will be to find them. I can even hire a detective to look them up!" He hoped it would be so easy. Aatami moved to hug her again, careful of her injured arm. "You've been too good to me, Lyla. I'll go get us some fish tonight and tomorrow I'll make you enough poultices and balms that you'll be set up for life.

“Oh. I really wish I knew more about how you evolve and stuff. Or what made it so you did.” She was puzzled by it really, and who could blame her. Then again she’d been a Ledyba so long… she continued to look at the shard then and smiled. “If you want to keep that, you could probably put it here…” and she reached out to touch where that one piercing he already had was located. “I think that would look kind of neat.”

Her hand squeezed his arm gently, and she smiled. “I really hope you’re able to find them easily. Cities tend to be more full of people. You told me the university you want to go to, if I happen to find either of them in my wandering I’ll tell them how to find you, okay?” she hugged him back with a smile, before she was lightly slugging him in the arm. “You needed help what can I say? But you’re healthy now, and strong, and can do a lot more than when I found you. I think you’ll do good out there when you leave. I’ll make sure you’re set for that trip. I’ll try tomorrow to get you new clothes okay?”

"I bet you could find out about it in a book." So far Aatami had been able to find out about a lot of lifes ups and downs through reading. It was soothing, pleasant, and helped him to gain the knowledge he needed. Holding the stone up to his ear he turned so that she could see the potential it presented. "Do you think so? It would make more sense than trying to make a pendant out of this little piece."

The teenager moved around to pull her onto his lap so that he could hug her tighter without hurting her. It was odd how much of a size difference there was now. He didn't think he'd ever get used to it. "Thank you so much. I don't know where I would be without you." The statement hung heavy in the air. He would have been dead if she hadn't found him, and taken him in. Aatami owed her more than words could ever say. "If I ever see that brother of yours I'll be sure to tell him where you are as well. Scratch your back if you scratch mine?" He smiled and leg go of her once she slugged him. "Go on then, get settled and I'll see what I can't get for supper."

“You keep telling me books have the answer to everything. I’ll have to look into a few.” He was given a smile as she said that. Hard not to gain an interest in them with Aatami around always talking about their virtues!

She’d been about to answer when she found herself in his lap and hugged him back, gently snagging the shard from him, and reaching up while she was, where she was and getting the shard hooked into his ear. “There you go. Now you have a piece of your past with you all the time. It looks good on you.” It did! “That’d be nice, thank you Aatami.” She slid out of his lap and settled tiredly by the fire. “Thanks Aatami.” Fish would be amazing right now really!

Aatami reached up to give the shard a little flick before swaying his ears from side to side. The weight felt a little odd, but it wasn't much so he was sure he could adjust quickly. "A piece to remember you by." He hoped she wouldn't forget him, like he was sure he would never be able to forget her.

Rising, he moved to grab his gear and a flashlight since the light was dimming. He gathered them all together, but not before going into his 'tent' to snatch his thick wool blanket for Lyla. "It's getting colder at night." Wrapping it around her, Aatami gave her one final hug before setting off on his night time fishing trip.
