The Salon was only three or four minutes at most with Romane's brisk pace and that was only because she had paused briefly to inform the new officer about the area and how she should report to her immediately if she heard any odd noises from beneath her feet. It was likely disease ridden individuals who had been missing for several weeks. She was about to explain to her the entire theory that her husband and her had been working on for the last several years when they had come upon the salon. It would have to wait until they had their first coffee break. She stopped them just before the doors, took a look around to make sure no one was following them, and went to open the door - which.. was unlocked! Which meant nothing since Mr. Waldroup was notorious for forgetting to lock the Salon's doors. She entered, expecting the woman to follow, and set her hand on her holster. The lights were on, but.. "Mr. Waldroup? Mrs. Koyama?" She called out cautiously, the gun inching out of its holster with every millisecond that she went unanswered.

Haruka had been working at the salon for a very very long time, over twenty years, and she could probably count on the one hand the number of times Kade hadn't been there to open the salon. Perhaps that made her lucky, that her boss was so dedicated to his business that she could take a bit of a break. She knew, from brief conversations with other stylists when she was on the mainland visiting her grandparents (when they were alive) or her uncle's family, that not all people were so fortunate. That's why it surprised her, when she showed up to work and the lights were off and the doors were locked. Kade hadn't appeared all day, and when she called at his home, he wasn't there. It was concerning, yes, especially as this trend continued, but Haruka wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt, that he just went on a trip or something and forgot to tell her. Maybe he even met a guy and that was why, however uncomfortable that rhyme made her feel.

Anyway, it had been a day or two of being in the salon all alone, when she heard the door open and someone call out. Haruka had been in the back, cleaning and doing other busy work. The voice startled her, and she almost dropped the bottle of cleaner she was holding. As fast as her (admittedly slow) reflexes allowed her, she set down the cleaning supplies and whirled out of back. "Kade?" she cried as she appeared in the main room. She straightened immediately when she saw that, no, it wasn't Kade, it was the sheriff. Well, yeah, that made sense, Kade didn't sound at all like that, and besides, Romane had called for 'Mr. Waldroup' and Kade wouldn't have done that, but... Well, Haruka had just gotten excited. "...Hello," she greeted Romane warily. The sheriff did not look like she was there for a haircut, so she had a feeling that any news she brought would not be news Haruka particularly wanted to hear. "Can I help you?"

How many people vanished in the first place? It seemed like quite a few seeing as though there hadn't been anybody in the places they've visited so far. Still, it wasn't like she actually knew any of these people, so it was fine. They were most likely killed or something because a mass kidnapping like this seemed unlikely. Of course, Anneliese didn't get that opportunity since it seemed like a person finally showed up. That was why she was merely going to shuffle around in the background until this business let up.

She already had the handgun out and aimed at all possible entryways before the second footstep could sound from the back. Steps that were caused by Haruka Koyama, unfortunately – though, she was lucky to have found anyone considering how empty the town had seemed. She slowly lowered her gun, but didn't put it away just yet. Romane didn't know if this was really Haruka yet, after all. She could be any number of people – with a clever mask and wig, someone could appear to be anyone. She narrowed her eyes suspiciously at the woman and kept her finger on the trigger as she glanced back at her officer. She seemed alert, but obedient – not bothering to take over when her superior was present. Good, she liked that. Julian had always been a bit too outspoken.

Mrs. Koyama. I am Sheriff Murrow and this is Officer Dahl. We have been informed of the disappearance of Ms. Li and have arrived to ascertain her whereabouts from Mr. Waldroup.” She didn't feel like she needed to explain why she would think Kade knew anything. Anyone who had been in this town for long knew that Mr. Waldroup was always on top of any snippet of gossip. As such, it was simple logic to ask him if he had any tips for the police. “Where is he?

Finally, Haruka noticed the gun and stiffened. She had never really had the... opportunity to talk to Romane before, but she had heard enough stories from Kade and her mother, as well as just talk around town, to know that the sheriff was tightly wound. Haruka had never seen a gun this close up before, actually, and so she kept her eyes firmly on Romane's right hand while the woman talked. Introductions were made, a Ms. Li was mentioned, and then the subject of Kade. "He's not here," she said finally, moving her attention from the gun back to Romane's face. "He hasn't been into work for a couple days now. I called his family, they don't know where he is either..." She glanced at the blonde police officer named Dahl hesitantly, forgetting the gun, forgetting about herself for a second. This Li person was missing? That was too much of a strange coincidence for Haruka. It was one thing if Kade had just gone on vacation without telling anyone. It was another thing if he had been kidnapped or something. "This Ms. Li is... missing...?" Haruka allowed herself a moment of anxiety as she momentarily considered the prospect that this was a lot more serious than forgetting to leave a note.

Anneliese should have been jotting notes down like a diligent officer, but why do that when she could simply remember things herself? It wasn't like she needed reminders. Plus, there wasn't even much to go off of in the first place according to this Koyama person. The only thing they really learned was that their missing person count might have increased. Were they really going to try to question everyone in the vicinity? That would be such a waste of time. Everything needed to be cut down to the chase to make life easier, and she had a pretty good solution to this problem.

"Yes, Mrs. Koyama. Ms. Li has been reported missing, and we are currently investigating this matter." Anneliese replied curtly to the woman before turning her attention back to her boss. "Sheriff, if I may suggest, I recommend that we do an aerial search in order to find whoever might be missing. I have a helicopter that we can use." That she had conveniently stole a few days back.

What? Mr. Waldroup was missing too? And his family didn't know? Romane's finger itched over the trigger as her heart thudded in complete and utter panic because people were missing and was she back? Was she doing it to more people? How many more before Romane finally caught her? Her throat went dry and she jammed the safety back on before shoving the gun back into its holster. She couldn't have another accident on the job - the Sonata's were forgiving, strangely, but she wasn't sure she could forgive herself.

She jerked back to look at Dahl, nodding once in affirmation because it would be so much easier to use their own helicopter versus asking the Sonata's for theirs. She respected her superiors to an extent, but that didn't mean she trusted them not to be selfish self-centered individuals. "Yes. You are capable of piloting a helicopter, correct?" She questioned as she was heading out the door. They would need to work fast and they had at least one pit stop to go to before they made it to wherever Dahl kept her helicopter.

Well, Umi had some spare time on her hands and her color was starting to grow out so the first chance she got, she looked up the salon and decided to pop over to have her roots fixed. The salon, like most everything else on the island, was easy enough to find but she found herself a little nervous as she headed inside.

She'd always had her hair done by great stylists but she was basically on a tiny island in the middle of the pacific. The chances of finding a decent stylist here seemed pretty slim. She was a little worried they might ruin her hair--in which case, it might be better to have them just dye it back to its normal black and let it stay that way for a while.

Black was just so...drab. So perhaps she'd luck out.

Stepping inside the shop, she loitered at the door, waiting for a receptionist or someone to notice her. Maybe she should have set up an appointment.

With the rabbit of the day secured on his lap, Kade had been happily flipping through magazines in the backroom inbetween taking inventory, a boring, boring task he wouldn't allow a long time, loyal employee like Haruka to have to do! Besides, Kade was happy to have some time to just relax in the salon – it was basically his second home, after all! The man had just been cooing at the Duchess of Cambridge's baby shower gifts – that tiny trench coat was to die for – when the chiming of the bell on the door informed him of a customer. He closed the magazine and shooed the brown bunny rabbit from his lap, allowing it to hop its lazy way after him as he opened the door to the main room and found something spectacular. Roots! Roots on a blue-haired girl! Oh, it was just wonderful!

Kade was at the front to greet the girl in a second, “Oh, you dye? Blue? That is just so great, honey – do you have an appointment? Oh, it doesn't matter! I have no customers today anyway and I've been bored to death doing inventory. Have you ever done that? I know it's important and everything, but it's just so boring!” He stuck his hand out for her to shake, “I'm Kade, by the way, Kade Waldroup, owner of the Sugar Salon, welcome!” He paused as a smudge of brown at the corner of his eye reminded him of Reeses the rabbit wandering about. “Oh, are you allergic to rabbits, honey? I'm sorry, I just can't stand leaving the home without one of them – I can put him up?

Umi laughed slightly when approached by a talkative stylist. "Well, I'm not exactly a natural blue," she said. "But, no. I do not have an appointment. Still, if you are willing to take--what is it? A...ah...walk in? I would be glad." She took his hand and gave it a light shake. She still wasn't quite used to hand shakes as a form of greeting but it would be rude not to do it. "Umi Farouk. It is a pleasure to meet you."

Umi glanced to the side, as Kade mentioned the rabbit and smiled slightly. "Oh, no! I am not allergic. Is he yours? He is adorable! I have not been in a salon with a pet rabbit running loose. It is cute!"

Without thinking, she crouched to see if she could entice the bunny closer. "Then do you have more at home? I have never had a pet before, actually."

The good news was that she already liked Kade. So hopefully he was also a good stylist. It would be terrible to have her hair ruined by someone she liked.

She was so nice too! Kade was just ecstatic that he had finally found a nice, not naturally blue haired girl! He nodded a handful more times than necessary to her – was she foreign? She certainly had an accent and seemed to have a bit of trouble finding the right words. He would have to force himself to slow down on his speech for her – he didn't want to confuse her or scare her away or something! ..Though it seemed Reeses was going to keep her trapped here for him.

I'm perfectly willing! Let me just go write you in – Umi Farouk? What a unique name! How do you spell that?” He asked as he made is way back behind the front desk to get the ledger out, glancing back at her to see her coaxing the rabbit, which worked out well as Reeses was as friendly as can be! It certainly had to get used to someone as clingy and excitable as Kade, so strangers didn't seem to faze his babies much. In fact, Kade was getting the feeling Reeses may like Umi even more than him!

He cleared his throat, “Yep! I actually breed them! If you're interested in one, I can totally hook you up – they're so cute and so easy to handle!” Though it would be hard to part with any of them – still, Umi lived on the island and he would be able to visit easily, so it wouldn't be too bad. “Oh, what are doing today? Touch up on the blue? Or a whole new do?

"Oh, thank you," Umi said. "Though I suppose I should pass the compliments to my father since he is the one who named me--hoping for a son, I think." She was a bit absorbed with scratching the friendly bunny between the ears, and almost forgot to spell out her name for Kade. "Oh, yes!" She stood, brushing her jeans off. "U-M-I F-A-R-O-U-K--it is not hard to spell. Not as hard as most people seem to think it is."

"I think, today, to just touch up the blue."
She glanced up at the hair falling in her eyes and reached to straighten a bit of it out thoughtfully. "And maybe a trim, I think? Just to give it a bit of shape again--it's grown out a little since the last cut." As Kade wrote her into the schedule, she glanced down at the bunny by her feet, thinking about his offer. She wondered if a pet would help her dad--pets were good for stress, right?

"Do you know if rabbits are good for people are having high blood pressure? For helping them to relax and be calm? My father, he has that kind of problem..."

The man nodded at her as she pet the bunny, content to just watch her love on the little rascal until she was ready to spell it out for him. He quickly wrote it down, though, once she did, happy to say he didn't miss a single letter~! He added in a note of the root touch up and cut and style, pausing just after that to wonder if he couldn't interest her in a manicure right then – he did get some nice cerulean polish earlier that week and he certainly had the time for it.. But, later, after she was relaxed! He set the binder down and put the purple gel pen away so he could show the girl to her seat.

Right over here, darling.” He instructed before going on to respond in what he hoped was a slower pace than before, “I don't know much about that, but I know they helped calm me down a lot and a friend's therapist totally recommended rabbits for stress relief – I heard it worked wonders!” And they were happily living with a whole hutch full of rabbits! ♥ He pulled the purple cape from a drawer at the chair as he waited for Umi to come, continuing on curiously, “So, did you move here with your dad? I haven't seen you around here before!

"Then maybe I will get one for my father," Umi said, following Kade. She plopped into the stylist's chair, studying herself in the mirror. It was definitely time for a cut. "Yes, I moved here with my mother and father not long ago--he is not well and needed to move somewhere he could get away from, ah, the stress? I decided to leave school to help my mother take care of him while recovers."

She smiled a little regretfully. "It is a little sad to not be recognized yet in a town as small as this but I don't manage to get out much these days. Not outside of going to work. I did go to the Tomato Festival--that was fun. And the Valentines...which was not so much."

"But this town seems quite nice. I like it. It is a bit like some of the smaller villages in France--sort of quiet and friendly, yeah? At any rate, I like most the people I have met so far."

"Have you lived here long?"
