The Vital Point System

This will be a breakdown of the point system and how it can be used. How to gain points, how they can be spent, and whatnot. For the record, you CAN give points, things bought with points, and whatnot away.

PLEASE NOTE! This thread is heavily under construction! Things may be added, removed, moved around, or have their prices or point values changed.

Point Gaining

Points can be gained by: Roleplaying, Writing Activities, Helping in the Shop, Making the Shop Environment Pleasant, Participating In Events, and Other Such Things.

Roleplaying Points

(Note: Roleplaying can be done in instant messages, google docs or threads in the guild or other guilds. Just please link to those or post logs. If its a doc or in another guild, make sure it's at least viewable outside of the general group. Emails are also acceptable but again, please post logs)

~ Self Rps | Awards: 4-5 points
Self Rps (not to be confused with Solos) are roleplays between yourself and other characters of yours. Done in the same format as other rps but purely between your own characters. Still differentiated and treated like being played with another person. Generally these characters must be from other shops or different households than the other characters you play. You cannot play two siblings and have it count for this. (5 points for new people, 4 for ones you've already met)

~ New Person Rps | Awards: 5-7 points
This is a roleplay where your character is meeting someone they have not met before that is played by another person. It can be a different character belonging to a friend you rp with often, or a new player in the shop. Either way, the point is actually getting out there and meeting people icly. If you are playing more than one Manifest in this rp, the 7 points only counts once+ because you would otherwise get twice the points for only one person. Essentially the points go by player headcount, not character headcount. If the rp is under a page, it's 5, if straight up at or just over a page its 6, and if it's more than that it's 7.

~ Regular Rps | Awards: 3-5 points
This is an rp that involves someone your character has met before. This may be part of a storyarc, catching up, or just because they got along. Rps under a page (15 posts) are 3 points, posts that hit the second page or are at 15 posts are 4, and posts over a page are 5.

~ ORPs | Awards: 3-5 points
So an orp opened up! Great! There's just one thing - if a bunch of people only post once, you can easily get to a page long without effort. But then nothing goes anywhere. For under 1 page in an orp, it's 3 points. For 2ish pages, its 4, and for more than that it's the complete 5.

~ Incomplete Rps | Awards: 2-4points
You guys just lost steam, or you got abandoned by your partner. Well that's ok, we understand. Either just you, or both of you, will get points anyway to make up for that not finishing. A new person rp you get 4 points if it was incomplete or abandoned. You will get the other points after it's complete. If you got abandoned before even a full page, that's only 2 points though. After like the halfway mark on the page (like 7 posts) it's the full 3. It's 3 if it's a new person rp under half a page.

~ Siblings Rp | Awards: 3 points
If you take two characters from the same household and play both in an rp, that is an extra 3 points because they have to interact with each other and stuff and it is hard. You get to count this bonus ONCE per rp - because the two will interact with each other but the point is them interacting with others. If they're just interacting with each other it's pretty much a solo. That is the main and only benefit to playing all your kids at once.

~ Cameo Rp | Awards: 1-7 points
In a major rp a character shows up for only a little while, it's +1 for every post they stay or show up, up to 5 (if you have met them) or 7 (if you haven't) points. Does not count for a Manifest's guardian if that manifest is present (if the guardian shows up solo, they count as a person.)

~ Guardian Rp | Awards: 3 points
This is rp for your guardian characters that don't have manifests atm. This shop isn't explicitly for them. You can get points by playing them but this isn't for them so not as many. Manifests who rp with someone's guardian oc get the full points because this is the shop for them.

Story Arcs

(Note: These can just be tallied in a post at the end of the story arc in the journal of each person involved, listing all things that involved you or linking to the full story arc post. You guys figure it out. Just so long as the staff knows.)

~ Story Arc Bits | Awards: 1 point each
This is an rp that is taking place during an arc of some sort of the character(s) or just in the world setting as the person plays it. These are personally come up with and only those involved have to deal with it. It is done on a character by character basis.

~ Story Arc Completion | Awards: 3 points for small, 6 points for large
You did it! You completed a full story arc you had planned! List off all the things part of this and you gain the extra points! Small ones are just a minor development and involve a few points. Major ones that span a lot will get the extra points.

~ Major Character Developments | Awards: 2 points
This is a huge change about your character in some way or another! Wow! That was a lot of work to get to! Show us your starting point, what they went through to get it, and your ending point, and you get your bonus! These are not for small discoveries like disliking parsley but for major changes about them, their demeanor, majorly affected manifestations, things like that. Please note, Major Character Development points do not get given for a solo, especially a prompt response solo that the point was major character development.

~ Meta Participation | Awards: Varies (from 1-10 points)
Depending on how complete the meta is and how much you did, this is how things came out. Thanks for joining us in the plot! We hope you enjoyed it.

Writing Activity Points

(Note: These generally go in your journal, minus the above and beyond which can be rps as well)

~ Journal Entries | Awards: 1-4 points
Journal entries are written from the point of view of either your guardian or your Manifest, and are an first person observation of things. Be it just their thoughts (not physically written down) or just written down ideas. It's things from their perspective. These are to be written in 1st person. Below 500 words is 1 point, 500-1000 is 2, 1000-1500 is 3, 1500-2000 is 4. 2000 is the cap. Over 2000 you can write all you like but it won't get you major points besides maybe getting the above and beyonding once in a while.

~ Solo Rps | Awards: 1-4 points
Not to be confused with Self RPs, these are like Journal Entries, but written in 3rd Person instead of 1st person. These can be stuff going on in the day to day life, interactions with family, things like that. Can go for as long as you want. Under 500 words is 1 point, up to 1000 is 2, up to 1500 is 3, and for four its over 1500. Anything over that will only gain you the above & beyonding mention once in a while.

~ Prompted Writing | Awards: 2-4 points
You were given a prompt as part of an event, or snagged one out of the prompt suggestion thread. Either way, you wrote it with some sort of prompt to go off of instead of just pulling it out of somewhere. Under 500 words is 2 point, up to 1000 is 3. Anything over 1000 is 4. Do over that enough times you might get the above and beyonding.

~ Reflective Writing | Awards: 1-3 points
These are prompted usually be a specific event, roleplay, or journal entry by another character. These will directly reference the event in question in some way or another, or give another side to the situation. Under 500 words is 1 point, up to 1000 is 2, over that is 3.

~ Above and Beyonding | Awards: 5 points for a bit or 10 points for A LOT
Oh my god. You didn't just write something - you wrote A LOT of something. Be it practically a short story or a damn novel, you went beyond where it's generally expected in an rp. This is judged on a case by case basis by the owner or RP managers but hey! It's an acknowledgement that you did a lot! You can protest this in cases where you did a lot, just try to be polite about it.

~ Guardian/OC Writing | Awards: 1-3 points
Guardians or Guardians to be writing a journal entry gotta do a little more work if they aren't writing about something to do with their Manifest. However, this does give you an outlet so you can muse with them or just have fun and wrack up some points. Up to 500 words is 1 point, up to 1000 is 2, and over is 3.

Shop Activites Points

(Note: Will be judged by staff)

~ Participation in Games/Activites | Awards: 2 points
We were running an event and you came and played along! Doesn't matter if you won or lost, you tried and that matters!

~ Prizes | Awards: 1 to 10 points
You won something in an event or contest! Congratulations! This is however many points the event is listed as being worth!

~ Arranging of Events | Awards: 3 to 7 points (depends on event)
Hey, you thought to help out with your community and make things better by arranging a mini-event of some kind! Go you!

~ Character Concept Contests | Awards: 3 to 5 points
So you tried in a concept contest! You get 3 points if your concept was not selected, for participation, and 5 points if you were selected. Concept contests result in full customs or close to full customs normally, but are simple to participate in, so they give very simple points. Usually hanging around besides submitting will get the other 5 needed for a new character for a first time player. For members of the shop who already have characters, they must pay an extra 15 instead of an extra 5 like newbies, but can also usually get at least 5 from hanging around the event, and can usually save the other 10 from having their regular character stuff.

~ Premade Flatsales | Awards: 5 to 10 points
So you entered in a flatsale! If you just entered at all, answering the prompt and designing a character for the premade up for grabs, you get 5 points. If you win, you get 10 points. If it's your first character, that automatically gives you the first character as that one. If you have a character previously, you have to pay the other 10 points for the premade.

Shop Environment Points

(Note: these are often judged by the staff on a weekly or monthly basis)

~ Greeting Newbies | Payment: 1 point
Hey, you came and made yourself known to a new person in the shop (hopefully not just for points). That's really great of you and helps people feel welcome. Good job.

~ Being Sociable | Awards: 3 points (not done for individual posts)
You hang around a good bit and actually take the time to talk to people and try to make their stay in the shop pleasant. Be it a new person, an old friend, or someone you don't even like that much, being sociable can make the shop a way better place.

~ Being Generally Nice | Awards: 2 to 5 points for noticed instances
You've been really good about helping people in the shop with whatever, making them feel welcome, stuff like that. Maybe you've been making things really good for your fellow shopmates or staff in whatever way. Maybe you just brightened someone's day, but here's a thank you. If you noticed someone worthy of getting this accolade, please send the staff a pm letting us know about it!

~ Questing Points! | Awards: 2 to 10 points
If you create a quest for a character, you get an automatic 2 points for creating that quest. Updating it after possible critiques from the shop can earn a few more points (it is not required AT ALL however) and trying for that character in events can earn more points as well. If your character isn't won from the event, it can usually be customed after long enough.

~ The Gifting Fairy | Awards: 15 point bonus
Did you do A LOT for your fellow shopgoers? That is amazing and we love you for it. This is a gift for having been a great gifting fairy for whatever purposes to your friends and fellows. This is a staff chosen award only so you can't apply for it.

~ Journal Making | Awards: 5 points
Hey so you bothered making and setting up a journal for your character! Good. That's an important step actually. If you have a composite journal, it's +5 every time you add a character to it (try not to overload it please). If it's just singles, +5 for each you make. Even simple journals. You remembered to make it, that's a start.

~ Journal Completion | Awards: 2-3 points
Hey so you made a journal, that's awesome. You technically get those 5 points even just for reserveds. Now, this is a journal you have set up properly, it's not just info to be filled in. 2 points for the most basic, bare a** journals, that are anything other than just 'reserved', and 3 for the really fancy ones. Cause hell, not everyone can make their journals fancy, but if you did that's at least 1 point for you.

Shop Help Points

~ Making things for the shop | Awards: 3 to 6 points
Oh my god, you made us banners or something, yay! Maybe you made us a playlist! Maybe it was fanart! Or fanfiction! Know what, thanks. That makes things really awesome for us.

~ Brainstorming | Awards: 1 to 4 points
Man you've really been helping out with thinking stuff up or making suggestions! Be it a lot of prompts suggested to the suggestion thread, or design ideas thrown up, or giving ideas for events. It's been noticed and good job!

~ Doing Art for the Shop | Awards: 7 to 15 points
This is a major major thing. You did official art for the shop. This is a point bonus, one time, for each person who is a staff or guest artist. Depending on if they just offered one small sketchy for an event or opening stuff more fully, is how much of a bonus. This is a one time bonus, in addition to all points gained for art.

~ Assisting in Stuff | Awards: 3 to 10 points
Hey you helped run something or are a major manager at the shop doing a lot. Great for you! Have more points.

~ The Mercenary Method | Awards: 10 to 100 points
So you donated A LOT of gold to the shop for whatever reason, or wish to bribe an artist or owner with gold or real money or items or even a rare pet trade? That's ok in certain circumstances, but to have it fit into the point system, you are getting mercenary points. This is done on a case by case basis. Stuff from other places is also useable but you seriously have to offer a bribe or something to get these points. Offers will be made in the post in dark red text.

Loyalty Points

~ Long Time Player | Awards: 10 to 15 points
Man how many months have you been hanging about? You're really doing a lot for our community by staying and being active. Thank you so much!

~ Well Developed Characters | Awards: 10 points
Damn are you setting a good example! You've got more than one character at beyond the basic stage and beyond the basic art - you might even have a few completed characters! Gawsh you're awesome.

~ Frequent Faces Contests | Awards: 5 points
Every now and then, there'll be a contest where shopgoers can list the consistently most seen non-staff members to give them extra points as a reward for all that activity. It will be announced beforehand and anonymously voted for.

~ Shop Firsts | Awards: 7 points
Whoa you hit a shop milestone! Go you! Usually these will be announced beforehand. Things like the first character to fully Manifest, or the first person on page 100 or something.

+ The rule that things go by player headcount counts as of 7/4/2013

Point Prizes!
What can you spend your points on

Character Prizes

~ First Character | Cost: 10-20 points
The first character here is generally pretty cheap because it's the ground floor to get into the shop. People will usually get their first ten points by hanging out or participating in a flatesale or contest event. 20 points is first custom, 10 is first event char.

~ New Character | Cost: 20-30+ Points
For a premade new character when you already have one, it's 20 points. For a full custom, it's 30. This is a fully playable new character. Every character you get is +5. So if you are getting a second character, it's just the 30 for the custom, but if it's your 3rd, its 35. And so on.

~ Minor Stage Change | Cost: 30 Points
Moving up in Minor Stages (and up by physical age). An extra can be added to this to skip a particular physical stage like preteen or something.

~ Major Stage Change | Cost: 15 to 250 Points
You want to go up from being say Hatched to Agemates(15 points) or Agemates to fully Manifest (250 points). That is a big deal! Mind you, a lot of minor developments in stages or art before this point can lessen that 250.

~ Skip A Minor Stage | Cost: 10 Points
An extra 10 points per minor stage you want to skip, and this on top of the fee for moving up a minor stage. For example, moving up to teen from child will cost 40 points, instead of 30 for child to preteen.

User Image

Art Prizes

~ Minor Change | Cost: 10 Points
Usually a headshot or simple sketch. Please limit how often you ask for these however.

~ Major Change | Cost: 20 Points
Usually require a full body or simple scene sketch. If you get a specific artist, they might add a fee.

~ Update Art | Cost: 25 Points
These are fully whatever style of the stage. It's just if you wanna do a different outfit or something minor but with the scope of real change.

~ Manifestation Change | Cost: 30 Points
Usually done when someone gets more major powers and such. Usually a sketch to demonstrate those. Might follow the level of the stage (like agemates would be colorsplashed). More scene than just a doodle

~ Temporary Different Artist | Cost: 10 to 15 Points
You don't want anything changed about the stage or art, you just want a version from another shop artist? 10 points + their art fee, if it's just more art for you, or 15 points + their fee to have their art become the new official for this stage. These are usually full body like regular stage arts so they're more expensive. Please note, even if you make it official for the stage, your regular artist will be who does the next stage art.

~ Permanent Different Artist | Cost: 25 to 50 points
Is this current artist just not working out? Don't have a style that suits you? Did someone you were really hoping for finally get the time? With approval from both artists, for a fee, you can switch to another artist. The flat 25 is if your character is already in the middle and you swap over, just for all future stages. If they're really early on its a larger fee, and if you want them to redo the current or previous stages that is also a larger fee. This does not include artist fee because every stage or growth you have to get from the new artist will be with their fee, instead of your previous artist's one.

~ Just For Fun | Cost: 5 to 10 Points
These are just simple headshots or fun doodles from one of the other shop artists. Does not include a shop fee because you have to get a just for fun slot from them.

~ Lining | Cost: 15 Points
You want your artist to please line a previous piece they did for you? That's 15 points + their lining fee. If you want someone else to line it, you must get permission from the original artist, but it's the same charge, 15 plus the artist fee.

~ ColorSplashing | Cost: 15 to 35 points
This is like how the agemates stage looks - a little color here and there and the lines maybe colored some.

~ Coloring | Cost: 25 to 75 Points
Depending on how complex and fancy you want these colors on top of the lining, is how much this costs. This is plus the artist's coloring fee. Mind you, if you're getting coloring, you do not have to pay to line it beforehand. Just do the coloring fee - just be aware having to line it does up the price if you want really complex colors.

~ Fancy/Dramatic | Cost: 50 to 75 Points
You want some sort of scene or major development illustrated unrelated to a previous piece? That is gonna cost you since it's a fully new piece. The artist will have a minor full piece fee of their own.

~ Story Arc | Cost: 20 to 40 Points
A sketched out major scene(s) or comic, for this. Usually will add in the artist's fee.

~ Guardian Art | Cost: 5 to 25 points
Would be a sketched guardian art, 5 for headshot and up to 25 for fullbody. Artist fees will be relevant there. Coloring adds the usual fees to that from the artists.

~ Artist Fees | Cost: Varies
Any artist besides Dgcakes will have their own extra fee to the baseline prices. They will have a fee for basic art, for lining, and for coloring, still in point values. They will also have slots. All artists have the right to refuse to do a specific piece. This is mostly volunteering based so please treat your artist's well, and we'll try to be fair.

Dgcakes - base points, no fee.
Nicolai Vorona - +5 points for sketchwork, +10 points for a lineart, +8 points for coloring

General Prizes

~ 10k Gaia Gold | Cost: 10 Points
You want to save up your points and just be paid in gold? Fine, if that's what you want.

~ Monthly Collectable Letter | Cost: 50 Points
Monthly collectable letters are expensive man, but yeah, 50 points will get it for you. Even sealed.

~ Random Item Generation | Cost: 100 Points
Those things are expensive but this will get you one. Unopened, obviously.
