The foal paused, wriggling his behind as he crouched down, building up the strength for his next leap. All around him, grass as tall as he was swayed in the breeze. He'd seen his sister dart off into it, and had tried to follow her to make sure she was safe - she was always having strange and dangerous ideas. But now he was in a bit of a predicament, unable to see anything except for the strands of green that waved about not inches from his face. He jumped up as high as he could, straining to raise his neck above what seemed like a forest to him. For a second, he saw a flash of blue, and up ahead was something grey. His hooves landed on the ground again before he could tell exactly what he'd seen.
Letting out a snort, he reared up onto his hind legs. Swaying around a little, he could just about raise his eyes over the top of the blades. Up ahead was a large pile of rocks - that must have been the grey he'd seen. Over to the right was a pond, a pretty big one at that. Before he could see any more, he overbalanced, sending himself toppling over. He landed on his rump with an oomph, wincing from the slight pain. Shaking his head, he scrambled back up to his hooves. Maybe if he got to the pile of rocks, he'd be able to climb up a bit and be able to see where Qiao had managed to get to.
With a determined flap of his butt-wings, he set himself off in the general direction of where he'd seen the rocks, wiggling his small body through between the stalks.
