All right, to be honest, Alifax wasn't sure what he was doing. The teams had been spread really thin – and he was pretty sure he'd lost his, uh, younger helper. She'd been a timid little orangeblood with a familiar symbol and a lusus who was also...well, familiar. It had to be a coincidence, though; their symbols weren't the same, and Flambe was several times larger than the little guy he'd seen on her shoulder. Also, his blood was red. Not orange. So they probably didn't share a common ancestor, which was fortunate. Well, unless – no, he wouldn't go into that.
He'd probably never see the girl again after this thing, right? He'd have liked to worry about her, but he didn't have time to go on a search when it was clear that the city needed resources like he'd needed shoes (someone had, fortunately, outfitted him with a pair back before they'd set out from the station, so he wasn't running through the city barefoot. They were kind of big, but he was managing all right.). He had to get his box of resources to the drop-off point so the drones could begin construction. Nervit would probably find him eventually – they'd both been assigned the same spot! And she had her lusus with her. If that thing was doing its job, then she'd be fine.
It was with this in mind that he jogged through the ruined streets of New Hemisect City, keeping his eyes on the road in front of him and his mind on the hastily scribbled map his supervisor had provided to him at the beginning of the journey. His memory was actually pretty good – probably the result of not having a reliable husktop to store data on, and of having spent so much of his life, well, reading!
It would've been hard for even Alifax to miss the mohawked blueblood in his path, though. Especially because the guy's face was – how could he put it? Even more familiar than Nervit had been. He'd definitely interacted with this guy before, and in the setting of his own home, too...
“Hey! What're you doing?”
In any other case, Alifax wouldn't have done it - but this guy already knew, anyway, and Alifax was predisposed to dislike him. Even if he was a blueblood.
He dropped his case and retrieved his meteors - and, with a moment of concentration, set them ablaze, only to swing them haphazardly toward the blueblood. This was something he knew how to do!

It certainly didn't come as a surprise to him, but Tuphan had been left in the rubble. No one had showed up with supplies yet, at least not that he had noticed, and in the chaos, the terrain had become unfamiliar to him. He was young, inexperienced, and couldn't find his way towards the center of the city at all. In fact, it had probably been a bit of a surprise that he'd even survived, considering he lived (or used to live) nearly midway between the first and top floors of a hivestem that had been settled fairly close to the origin of the quake. And, quite possibly, because he also was a bit wobbly and easily disoriented. If anything, he had his lusus to thank for his life.
Though she was small as she trotted at his side, she was scrappy, and had taught him that even if he probably wouldn't be all that proficient at fighting, he'd at least be able to weasel his way out of most anything else. Fitting, as she was a weasel herself.
Slipping through the remains of a fallen something or other, and looking maybe even a little proud that he'd been able to fit, the greenblood emerged on the other side to something that, to say the least, had been unexpected. The temperature suddenly spiked and mom hissed as if started nearly as bad as he had been. Had the crumbling wreckage caught fire?! This was just not what he needed at all. Grabbing up his lusus, Tuphan tried to scramble back the way they'd come, but instead he was met with a firm blow to the forehead for being so frazzled and thoughtless. He'd forgotten to duck... and run right into something hard and quite possibly metal, one of the same somethings he been so proud for slinking under only moments ago.
Both he and his lusus let out a rather startled cry as he fell backwards onto his a**. A small canister that had been tucked in his jacket escaped before he could grab onto it again, rolling out into the impromptu fight he'd somehow stumbled upon. When he could see again, he wanted nothing more than to try and fetch it. That was all their food, all their supplies, the things he'd 'borrowed' to survive! Weaselmom was quick to chomp at his fingers, though, chasing the foolish notion away. He crawled a few feet before tucking himself into a divot in the wall of rubble. He hoped first that this wouldn't last long and second that they wouldn't mess with him when they were done.

He hadn't lost Nervit - she just. Well, she got a little behind! Okay, maybe a lot behind. But here she was now, scrambling over the last little wall just in time to see Alifax throw fireballs (or at least what looked like them) towards some savage who was obviously doing wrong. She spent a moment thinking that was really useful and she wished she'd got something as cool - she just had the symbol. As far as she knew anyway. Maybe she'd like, spontaneously develop powers...that could happen, right? (The consensus was no from Pyredad, and in truth if the fire was that uncontrollable that it burnt things all the time she wanted nothing to do with it. But idle thoughts were always nice.) Tatty clothes or not, Alifax was /really cool/. Nervit had noticed the similarities too, and she thoroughly approved of this sign-similar troll with such a good, subservient attitude. They could totally be friends - he knew his place and was loyal to the crown. So when she'd been partnered with him for supply delivery she'd been pleased. This was an excellent opportunity to be friends but also be useful! Two wingbeasts with one stone, or however the saying went. She wasn't quite sure after all.
So she caught up to the pair just as they began to fight - at least, Nervit couldn't see many a troll taking that fiery assault sitting down. or lying down. or you know in any passive way whatsoever. She couldn't be much (if any) use here at all - the weighted chain she used to practice with was at home, and yeah, she couldn't fight, she was a kid! So instead she scuttled up a wall and sat on the top and shouted (what a rare occurence!)
"You can do it, Alifax! For the Crown!"
And then, after a thoughtful moment.
"If not I'll patch you up!"

alifax lobs his meteor at zeffer again yay but it's cooler now which means no more fire praise the troll lord who is regina who is conveniently on zeffer's side def not a coincidence ok
it misses which is fortunate for zeffer because that thing would've hurt a lot wow 6 ugh maybe it hasn't cooled down that much
(sorry saepon it's four am and i have breakfast at 8 ok)

It seems no side has emerged victorious from this fight.
However, having shown great effort in working towards the success of their side, Zeffer Siroco earned 1 resource point for the looters! [ via ORP reward ] When the dust finally settled over the destroyed sectors of New Hemisect City, the looters found themselves victorious, having shown the greatest proficiency in both combat and gathering supplies alike. ----- Please head over to the Relief Station ORP to read the conclusion of our mini meta and find out exactly what prize your troll is taking home for their efforts!
