Things were going about as well for NHC as Abrila had predicted. As in, they weren't going well at all.
She had felt it on her exoskeleton like an irritating itch. The moment the P.P.S. started asking for aid, Abrila had been suspicious. Ordinarily she didn't really care about the going-ons of the world, but the fact her cozy hive was now uninhabitable had driven her right into the thick of it. And the orangeblood didn't like what she saw. The P.P.S., with their flashy claims of aide and their call for help for the greater good... Sheesh. Anyone with a full thinkpan could see it was only a ploy to help out the highbloods and nothing would trickle down to the greater populace. Which, as the time frame had come and went, seemed more likely than ever.
Abrila, at least, was doing well for herself, all things considered. After a brief bout at the relief station, she had gone her own way and found herself a nice little hideout in some hivestem rubble. She was doing pretty well finding supplies, too. Her dirty old pack was weighed down by nutrition canisters, beetles, valuable scrap, and various knick knacks (ahh, old habits die hard).
That night, she had ventured into another, almost decimated area of the city. Deep cracks in the pavement and huge blocks of hivestem made it difficult to navigate, but Abrila didn't mind. It just meant that she was less likely to run into anyone. She was in the middle of scaling a loose pile of debris to investigate a large, bent sheet of metal sitting at the top. Some trolls wouldn't see the value in such a thing, but Abrila knew that some metals could be sold for a decent beetle per pound.
She reached the top slowly. Small pieces of brick tumbled down the slope with every step. Maybe the climb hadn't been so smart, but the object of her interest was comfortably in her reach. She tapped on it with her shovel (she was becoming more and more fond of the versatile tool) and listened to it's metallic ring. If it wasn't too heavy, she could probably haul it back "home"...

Bromos, champion of the dark. Scourge of the weak. Collector of skulls and trinkets, and connoisseur of the many interesting spoils of war that lay at his feet this fine night, waiting to be found and reclaimed for the glory of the Bloodletters!
The redblooded kid stuck out like a sore nub in the city for a number of reasons. The first being that he was a pretty big kid waddling around stuffing jewelry (lost amulets, perhaps?) into empty Faygo bottles for storage. His hefty and unruly lusus-- a fat, cleft-hoofed beast-- yelled loudly at his charge wherever he went (strangely, the sound was reminescent of an adult troll-- a very peculiar and unsettling sound). Third, both of them were easily perceived by smell as well as sight. Their rather foul stench meshing with the residual gas-leak and fire smell that existed in the city. Fourth, and most prominently, was the simple and apparent fact that lusus and child were dressed in full LARPing regalia. The knight and his trusty steed meandered around the block, ready to battle at any time. Or at least the "knight" thought he was. Goatdaddy was a little too prudent to let his oafish charge literally charge into battle. But he let him have his fun. It was really the only thing he could do while their hive was in this state - and it kept his mind off of things.
Bromos shuffled through some garbage, nearly stabbing his hand (unprotected by his flimsy homemade armor) on a sharp plane of glass. He looked up to see if his lusus had seen, and suddenly spotted a troll in the distance. Bromos quickly ducked behind a refuse can to check out the intruder stealthily, never minding his bulk and long vertical reach of his horns. She didn't look like she was from the P.P.S. What a relief!
"Hold there, steed! This traveler may have goods to barter!" Announced the child, already scampering up the pile of debris with careless abandon. "Hey!"
The pile of debris was a much more daunting task than Bromos had anticipated. He slipped and skidded, his feet suddenly unsure on the twisted metal and crumbling bricks below. "Y-you!" He called, his voice shaky but still with the overdramatic tone of his LARPing character. "U-um--"
The ground underneath him gave way, causing a small avalanche of bricks and splintering wood. Fortunately an uprooted (and half-buried) lamppost was nearby -- he clung to it for dear life and had a good look at her. She looked like she'd been through hell. It was a reminder that, at the end of the night, he too would have to go home to what was left of his little hivestem, and what was left of his neighbors. He gulped a little bit, and his bravado faded slightly. "I... Are you finding cool stuff?"
Bromos tried to regain his cool - a reminder that his lusus was watching came from below with a loud, urgent bellow. "Er... Sounds like somebody's coming soon! Do you want some help with that?"
Abrila gains 1 auto-hit!

"Hey! You there!" The call might have come from the bottom of the pile, but Saabia's voice always did have a bit of a carry to it. Certainly the troll up there would hear her. The troll she was already assessing, even from this distance. "You need some help?" The question wasn't exactly genuine in nature; the tealblood could see the tattered and worn appearance of the one scrounging around near the top of the pile. Could this be one of the looters that haughty little blueblood had talked about?
Reaching into her pocket, she fished out a long length of tough looking string and started wrapping one end around her hand. She would give this—they looked like a greenblood with that sweater—the benefit of the doubt. Well, a small benefit, but at least she wasn't already launching her weapon. It would be ready, though, just in case it did turn out that way, with that troll up there working for the relative 'bad guys.'
Soon there was an elongated arrow in her hand, taken from the quiver at her back. She fit the other end of the string into a notch near the feathers, and took a quick moment to admire the sharp and dangerous looking tri-bladed hunting tip she favored for each of her projectiles. The swiss arrow might not have been the most accurate or heavy hitting, but Saabia found it suited her well. If that troll up there made one false move, she'd loose an attack without a second thought.(( Hey Chaos, sorry about the wait, but lets finally get this thing started! ))

It seems no side has emerged victorious from this fight.
However, having shown great effort in working towards the success of their side, Abrila Variga earned 1 resource point for the looters! [ via ORP reward ] When the dust finally settled over the destroyed sectors of New Hemisect City, the looters found themselves victorious, having shown the greatest proficiency in both combat and gathering supplies alike. ----- Please head over to the Relief Station ORP to read the conclusion of our mini meta and find out exactly what prize your troll is taking home for their efforts! For those who have not yet finished their battle rps, they may not have counted towards your team's victory, but we'd like to give anyone interested a chance to finish their battles. To keep your battle open, simply quote the mule here stating you want to continue. Only one player needs to do this. However, if the request isn't made by the end of the day tomorrow (Monday, April 22), the thread will be archived. Thanks for participating!
