[ Dir's uncert ] [ Dir's Bare Uncert ] [ Jasmine's uncert ]
Dir and Jasmine are loving parents. They have looked forward to having a family of their own, and though it may seem a little intimidating, the pair is up to the challenge. They have a bright outlook on life, and look at these bundles of life as an opportunity to grow closer and bring more joy into the world.
They have settled in a flower-covered meadow, both a reminder of Dir's family's meadow and a calming favorite place of Jasmine's, and this is where they intend to raise these youngsters and hopefully many more to come.
Jasmine has taken to decorating no only herself and Dir with flowers, but the baskets also. It is a small quirk of hers that she is rather paranoid of being smelly, or even perceived as smelly due to her visual likeness to the coloration of the common skunk. She is very shy, but a more gentle mare you'd be hard pressed to find.
Dir is an artist. He paints by gathering colorful materials and mashing them into paint, then applying them to various canvases with either his collection of feathers or sometimes his mouth, tongue or even hooves on those larger pieces. He experiences very vivid dreams, and those are often the subject of his paintings, but all in all, Dir is creative and will be urging his children to express themselves in whatever way they are most comfortable. Painting, dancing, singing, even story telling are but a few hobbies that he hopes his children may develop, and he looks forward to helping their artistic attributes blossom.
Over time, both Dir and Jasmine have become entirely dependent on one another. They can no longer imagine a world without the other, and this is both their strongest and potentially weakest point. They live in peace in their flowery meadow, and during these happy times there is nothing on their minds but the excitement of beginning a family together.
------------------------
Here is their first official RP together, it is ongoing and not yet finished, but whomever wins the basket will be filled in on other plots and fun stuff later on, [ Family ]

FORMS
Remember folks, this must all be your very own work made for this contest specifically, and if you impress us we may give you bonus tickets on top of your ticket for entering any extra (and entirely optional) categories.
Free-For-All Form: Everyone is entitled to this one free ticket, assuming you fill out the following form:
Ticket, please! Username: Foal's Intended Name: Why this name? Personality: Anything else you would like to include:
------------------
Tell Me Something: With this form you may earn yourself an extra ticket. What we want you to do is write us a poem or short story. You may submit this form once for a poem OR once for a short story. Poem Restrictions: No haikus or acrostics, please. The shortest poem I would like to see is a Limerick (at least 5 lines for a poem), and no longer than 12 20 lines. (TL;DR: Poems must be 5-20 lines) (Made a small adjustment to 20 lines max instead of 12, which should accomodate a few more styles of poetry, really we just don;t want a giant epic to read through) Short Story Restrictions: This will be a challenge, but when I say short story, I mean it. Nothing longer than 3 paragraphs please. (Think, intro-body-conclusion). 'Paragraph' can be taken loosely, but keep in mind we don't want to be reading novels here, and the story doesn't have to be indepth or anything fancy. We want a small read that shows effort and thought, but we're not expecting ground breaking ideas. Just make sure it is your OWN work, made for this contest!
If you need help with this section, perhaps write us a poem or story that your foal might care to share. Pretend that it is his turn to story-tell to the family, and write us an experience or dream he may have had.
Regardless, these poems or stories should be either related to the family, or at the very least to the Soquili world.
I'll Tell You Something! Username: Poem/Story Title: -insert writing here-
-------------------------
Painting The Scene: With this form you may earn yourself an extra ticket. Quite simply, art! Both traditional and digital will be accepted <3 It must be of Dir and/or Jasmine, and/or the baskets! (Please do not draw the foals, as we do not know what they will look like yet, but something like a pair of eyes peeking out of its' basket is fine <3 ) You may draw them as horses or as humanoids if you like. Keep in mind art submitted becomes ours, and may be displayed in our teepees and sigs, but you will always receive credit for your work <3 ((And we reserve the ability to reject any stickmen, so please do not submit those, we do want to see some effort put into these entries )) Again, make sure it is your own work you are submitting that you made specifically for this contest!
Paint All the Things! Username: Title: Submission:
-------------------------
Flower Weaving! With this form you may earn yourself an extra ticket. Show us your RL Flower Weaving Talent! This can be anywhere from a simple clover bracelet to complex things I can't even imagine, but we need photo proof with your username in the picture somewhere. (Upload to photobucket or tinypic for example for hosting) ((We reserve the right to reject any entries that are simply a single knot in a daisy's stem, again, we want to see some effort put into your entry. ))
Lovely Flowers Username: Photo Proof: Small description/summary:
--------------------
In short, you may gain: 1 ticket for filling out the Free-For-All form 1 ticket for a Poem OR Short story 1 ticket for an art piece 1 ticket for RL Flower Weaving And potentially bonus tickets for impressing us in any of the above categories.

Ticket, please! Username: .Tortured. .Pumpkin. Foal's Intended Name: Calla Why this name? This name is for the calla lily. I figured with the mother's passion for flowers, she may name one of the foals after one. Personality: Calla would be very carefree. Growing up in such a loving environment will leave the foal sweet and cheerful and maybe a little too trusting. The foal would be competitive toward its siblings, and eventually toward others it meets, though it would not take anything too seriously. Anything else you would like to include: Thank you for this opportunity! The parents and baskets are lovely. =3

Ticket, please! Username: Kamiki Foal's Intended Name: Jerahmeel Mentha Why this name? The initials are are JM, like his mother. Jarahmeel is an alternate spelling of the angel Eremiel. This is a nod to his father Samandiriel, which is an Angelic-derived name. Also, Mentha is the scientific name for mint plants - not only does Jasmine's name contain that of a flower as well, the basket has an alluring mint color. The foal would probably choose to go by Jera, for short. Personality: Jera would be a a genuinely good soul. Very kind, a bit shy. Almost to the point of naïveté. He would be quiet; not mute, but not being very comfortable speaking - especially to strangers. He would feel more comfortable expressing himself through art. I haven't entirely decided what his art of choice would be - I imagine it may come out as I get more of a "feeling" about the character - but it would probably be painting, sculpting, flower-weaving, or some other visual artform; he would probably experiment as a foal. Anything else you would like to include: Thank you for this opportunity, they are beautiful baskets! heart I am going to try to enter some of the other entries, but this week is going to be super hectic. If I happen to win, just be aware I will be out of town (getting married heart heart heart ) until Monday, so if I don't respond right away its not because I didn't bother to check. blaugh

Ticket, please! Username: Nymphalidae Foal's Intended Name: Jophiel Nickname: Jo Why this name? I'm a sucker for angelic names, honestly, but don't usually have a fitting time to use them. According to a few websites I looked at, Jophiel is an archangel in Jewish lore, whose name means "Beauty of God." He is also the Patron Angel of Artists, so I felt it was an appropriate name for him as he will certainly take after his parents and enjoy art! Personality: As a foal, Jophiel is a quiet and shy young colt; he often hides behind his parent's legs when meeting new soquili, and prefers to stick close to his family rather than go out exploring on his own -- he'll never stray far enough that he can't quickly run back to his mother or father. He is bright and curious, loves to watch his father paint in either quiet companionship or as a student eager to learn, enjoys learning how to weave flowers, and likes to chase his siblings in the flowers. He hopes, one day, to become a painter just like his father.
Among his family, Jo is much more open and talkative -- perhaps not quite as much as his siblings, but Jo is comfortable around them enough that his shyness doesn't hold him back. Sometimes he feels a little left out, even though his parents try to make sure each of their foals have attention and love, but when one is quiet and soft spoken, sometimes that just happens without anyone meaning to. He certainly never doubts that his family loves him.
He will develop a dry wit, delivering lines in deadpan seriousness that, at first, is hard to tell if Jo is making a joke or not. He's sarcastic but not cruel, and while he may tease his siblings sometimes, it's never done so maliciously. Jo likes to spend his time out among the flowers of the meadow, watching the bees go about their work, or simply just closing his eyes and relaxing to enjoy the sounds and smells of nature.
Jo will begin to grow out of his shy phase as he gets older, and while he may never really be outgoing, he'll be past hiding behind his parents and siblings and able to go out by himself more, but with no desire to leave his family's new herd. He will continue to pursue painting and flower weaving, but wants to find something uniquely his own, even if he's just using these talents to a different effect.
Eventually, Jo will discover that his favorite canvas isn't leaves or bark or trees, but other soquili themselves -- he likes to apply paint to their bodies and change their appearance, able to transform others into visions of beauty or a fearsome warrior. He takes this a step further by adding his knowledge of flower weaving, picking flowers and other small objects to weave into the soquili's mane and tail. As a side project, his other favorite canvas is to paint on feathers themselves; he finds the process a good way to relieve stress and relax, as it requires delicacy and attention to detail to paint on such small, fragile things -- being able to focus entirely on these projects helps him forget anything that may be weighing down his mind, if only for a little while.
Anything else you would like to include: Thank you guys so much for the opportunity! If anything I wrote contradicts what you guys think Jasmine and Dir would do differently, I'm happy to change anything.
Edit: Everything is filled out now! Sorry I had to run before filling the whole thing out before.

Ticket, please! Username: JetAlmeara Foal's Intended Name: Jadir Why this name? Its a combination of Jasmine and Dir, they strike me as a couple that's so perfect for one another that a combination of their names would be a fitting tribute to that love. Personality: Jadir is artistic with a great love of the natural world and his family. As a foal he will take great interest in his fathers painting..because really what foal wouldn't love that? However his artistic ability will leave something to be desired and eventually he'll accept that he will never be a painter. His mothers love of flowers will also gain his attention but rather then decorate with them Jadir will find a love for growing and caring for them. Kind hearted and peaceful in nature Jadir will always be the gentleman, he will be a poetic speaker, prone to grandiose statements about the world around them. Phrases like "Never shall the sun shine as brightly as the love in my eyes" Would be a rather natural comment for him to make and while this might seem a bit odd and perhaps even annoying to others...its just one of his quirks that everyone will have to get used too. When you grow up with a happy artistic family you just can't help being a little bit eccentric yourself right? Anything else you would like to include: I really shouldn't be entering, since I've recently been lucky with Syrrin's basket and in the art contest..but...I just really like the family Dynamic and the basket up for grabs is my fave of the bunch >.< Good luck to everyone!

Ticket, please! Username: RockerWolfie1616 Foal's Intended Name: 'Alohilani Why this name? I love the way it flows and, it means 'bright sky, brightness of heaven' in Hawaiian Personality: Bright, well mannered and rather spirited..anything but shy or reserved! Being a bit hyper, with little patience for more 'quiet' artistic ventures this little foal prefers things like stomping / mixing paints for daddy and finding beautiful things to adorn momma's mane. Anything as long as it's not sitting still for extended periods of time. Once grown 'Alohilani will find an outlet for all his energy through dance. It will be very near and dear to his heart, molding the once hyper galavanting foal into a graceful, fun loving adult. Anything else you would like to include: Thank you for the opportunity!

Ticket, please! Username: dawns_aura Foal's Intended Name: Calamintha Gavreel nickname(s)- Cal, Mint Why this name? Calamintha- a genus of plants, to honor mother pretty picture Gavreel- angelic name to honor father Def. from angel-guide.com 'Angel of peace, Angel Gavreel is connected to the forces of opposition. A connection with this angelic energy is beneficial when trying to reconnect to the original source of a problem and the acquisition of ideas and thought processes for peaceful solutions.'
Personality: Curious, inquisitive, peaceful and gentle. Mint is curious about the hows, whys, and wherefores of the world. This leads him to explore and question and seek, often getting him into mischief, though no more so than the average foal. He is a kind and gentle soul that does not like conflict, always wanting to find a solution before it blossoms into something even greater.

I'll Tell You Something! Username: JetAlmeara Poem/Story Title:
First Memories
Stirring in the darkness, a tiny speck of life, A little foal whose soul has yet, to know a speck of strife.
Soft murmurs break the silence, Loving words from those beyond, A little mind whose ears did find First steps of loving bond.
Sweet scents float ever inward, Fragrant gifts from world unknown, A twitching nose whose smile flows Oh how the foal has grown.
Shadowed life is broken, Blazing bright the world revealed, A blinking eye cracked open To see the flowers in the field.

Ticket, please! Username: lysia_nyteblade Foal's Intended Name: Mica Why this name? It's a mineral that can be used in powder pigments to create pearlescent pigments. I figured with his father gathering natural items to use for painting He might give one of his children the name of such a wondrous thing that can make your jewel paintings really dazzling. (not to mention powder shimmering stuff on it's own is rather dazzling ~_^ ) Personality: Unlike his mother he'll be more out going and boisterous. A bit of a ham you might say. He likes to dance and sing and make merry though he is very interested in the art his father creates and likes to 'hover' around and watch him in hopes that some of his genius will rub off on him. I'll Tell You Something! Username: Kamiki Poem/Story Title: Simple Treasures
((I imagine this more of a song or lullaby, than a spoken poem))
Deep in the meadow of flowers and clover My family and I love the land we call our own Butterflies play and the honey bees hover My mother weaves and my father's skill he hones
The sun warms our fur and the wind carries the scent of the flowers throughout the land The stars shine so bright and the dew ripens the berries that grow in our meadow; and it all seems planned.
The Spirits have blessed our home on this earth And the though our lives to you may seem humble I can see the true meaning of all its beautiful worth
