Informing the herd that she was off out for the day had been the easiest part. The group had been surprised by Neria's sudden need to take a wander outside of Eden but with her duties being so consistent, they also understood that she could do with a break, especially with everything that had been going on as of late. The only problem it did pose was that, it had just been too long since she had left the grounds of Eden that she had become nervous at the thought of leaving it without her watchful gaze.
The role of Alpha was a lot of responsibility to take on. Keeping the herd safe, keeping on top of the members to make sure they were keeping up to their respective role within the herd, sorting out arrangements with surrounding herds and meeting with them to discuss peace treaties and alliances. The last one had been with Maion, who had asked if the members of his herd could have safe passage through and over Eden, in return offering their services if they were needed.
Apart from the good, there had been bad too. Below them in the forest which the mountain path from Eden lead straight towards were the ShadowMoon clan, the pack of wolves that had been causing them trouble since they made a home there. A certain arrangement was still to be negotiated and althought that was none of her business, she still wished to know every detail her son Evan could provide. It did reflect on the rest of the Angelic Herds members. He wasn't giving away much and she had to take initiative to prepare for Shadow's daughters arrival;offering hospitality to the wolves was something she hadn't been fond of but a guest was a guest and it had to be done.
Sighing at her thoughts, she decided to shake her head and dismiss them. This had been one day she had chosen to have 'off' but even then it was hard to relax. She outstretched her wings, swearing she heard a creak from their stiff joints. She wasn't getting old... It had just been a while since she last used them. She pouted, maybe she was but that didn't matter! She had managed to maintain her looks even after all the stress of having two kids to look after as well as the herd. She was doing pretty damn good, if she may of said so herself.
Picking up a delighted smile, having excercised her wings enough to take flight, she kicked off the edge of the mountain path and let the wind take her. Allowing her head wings some space to roam free, the wind feeling exotic as it wove through the feathers. Her orbs took to skimming over the land, seeing where would be the perfect spot to take a walk. The village wasn't too far and there was a beautiful forest beyond that, no doubt less wolf infested than theirs was. It would be wonderful to remember what a crisp, safe forest smelled like once more. She made a 'mhmm' sound, closing her eyes. It had been far too long, which allowed her to make up her mind and decend in to the tree tops.
Landing gracefully, she flicked her long lion-like tail behind her and simply took to gazing around at the wildlife, steady steps leading her forward. One couldn't be too cautious. She had witnessed some terrible things in the shade of the forest, when meeting her beloved a kalona had attacked them, then she had to save her neice from the jaws of a wolf. For now however, she believed she was safe.
