Back at last... Ursula closed her eyes for a bit, listening to the chatter of students and the loud shuffling of robes. It was only her second year at Hogwarts but it felt normal to be here still. Despite the navigational troubles she had at the beginning of last year, Ursula remembered perfectly how to make her way from one end of the castle to the other... which was incredibly nice, considering the fact that she didn't need an escort to dog her every step. It gave her time to relax where she was, in the main hall, eating breakfast.
Yesterday, she and the other upperclassmen hopped off the train and were transported via carriage and thestral to Hogwarts where they watched the introductory ceremony. By the end of it, all the excitement and food got the best of Ursula and she was far too tired to search for anyone she knew outside of her own House. Even if she wanted to, the crowd of people was impenetrable. She could barely see the tables next to Gryffindor's (Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff) from where she sat. The roar and swarming of the first years set everyone abuzz and about. And during the feast, who honestly could focus on anything else besides the food?
Ursula carved out the flesh of a grapefruit with her spoon, enjoying the bittersweet taste in her mouth. Not a lot of people were down from their dorms... But they'd fill in eventually. Ursula made a clear effort to stay clear out of the way of the grooming Gryffindor girls... All their make up, perfume, and hairdryers were instant headaches. I really should be more social... Ursula realized with a frown. A year already and she still didn't have any female friends in her own house. Oh well... what am I to do? Or rather... What do I care to do? Not much, apparently.
Even if she had friends, it would've been hard to kindle much affection during the summer when Ursula was sent off to... boot camp? Ursula didn't exactly know what to call the prison she encountered over the summer. Summer school? Either way, it sucked all possible enjoyment clean from her, all the way to her bones.
It all began with her speaking back to her mother. Or rather... her mother began to pay attention to her. The realization horrified Ursula when she arrived home... And for Merlin's Beard, for some reason, that woman managed to get some sort of hold over her father! Almost fifty spats and hissing fits later (the midst of which Ursula chopped off her hair out of rebellion and set fire to all her evening dresses), her mother managed to convince her father to send Ursula off to fix her behavior.
Obviously that didn't work... Ursula rolled her eyes at the memory. It was just to get her out of their hair... If her father wanted Ursula around, he would've fought for her... But instead, of course, he went along his own business and, for the most part, stayed out of everyone's way. Her mother's new found interest in her made Ursula's life hell... And it all summed up to just prancing in front of other pureblood ladies and their sons. Trying to get an engagement... She had to attend stuffy balls (which led to the whole burn-the-dresses phase) where her mother pinned up her hair so tightly into majestic and swooping buns (hence the chop-off-the-hair stage). Sitting with the sons wasn't bad at all, they gave Ursula a fair deal of attention... and she thrived off that, but Ursula would rather be damned than willingly facilitate any plan of her mother's.
When it was obvious that Ursula wasn't going to bite, even when presents were sent and courtships ensued, her mother sent her away. Tired of her vulgarity and insubordination. Strangely enough, the place her parents sent her was much more enjoyable than putting up with any wooing... and Ursula managed to keep her sanity, even while being hounded by pureblood males and their mothers.
That is, until she arrived home to find her room defiled by... niceties.

The tickle at the back of his throat had grown ever insistent since Dorian had gotten off the train. Great..it seemed as though his sore throat hadn't gone completely away. He had been plagued by this throat malady for the majority of the summer. Most likely from the damp and dank castle that his grandparents had insisted on staying in.
If it hadn't been for Kory, he never would have done anything memorable all summer. Which would have been horrid. Of course his grandparents had been livid when he had returned with a half shaved head and sporting an earring in his right earlobe after their outing. They had gone so far as to threaten her with legal actions. Which of course he and Kory knew were just empty threats.
Sure they'd threaten til they were blue in the face, but Dorian's grandparents wouldn't go so far as to carry them out. That's just the way they were. Talkers not doers. Which was the complete opposite of Kory, and Dorian figured him as well. After all he had gone through with getting haircut he never would have gotten a few years ago. He figured he was just learning who he was and what he was capable of.
It was after his extreme makeover that he had thought of Ursula and wondered what she was up to. Then he had decided to do something unforgettable for her when she returned to school. She had no clue that he intended to win her back and he figured it was time to get her attention.
He ordered several iris bouquets along with some luxury chocolates which his half sister Kory was all to happy to get for him. She had even suggested him to get some raspberries covered in dark chocolate and some truffles. Dorian had no clue what sort of candies Ursula might like and hoped that none of them would be something she was allergic to. That would be horrible if his gift ended up putting her in the infirmary.
He wondered if she had found her gifts yet. He had been at the school for a few hours now and had instructed one of the house elves to put the gifts into her room when he had first arrived. He was now nursing a large cup of hot tea and trying to get his sour throat to settle down while sitting at one of the tables in the dining hall. He ran his right hand across the now closely shaved hair on the right side of his head and wondered what Ursula would think when she saw it. He was still trying to get used to it himself.

At first, Ursula thought it was some sort of sick joke. Heck, for every other girl in Gryffindor it became the most giggly matter of all. When they all arrived back up to their dorm-room for the first time since before the summer, she stumbled upon a room chocked full of chocolates and flowers. It was like Valentines came early this year... and oh god, Ursula was disgusted at the sight. Even further furious when she noticed it was her bed showered in the truffles and other candies.
And then she got very... very creeped out. The other girls were all squealing and giddy, asking who she thought they came from... and despite Ursula having met several guys over the summer and even some before school ended, she couldn't imagine who would be this... Well. This. Ursula wasn't used to such a large display of affection and she felt a bit sick to her stomach, unsettled that someone not only spent this much money on her but also managed to get all these things up to her room. Where she slept.
Did I manage to get a stalker? She wondered, unnerved. While all the other girls thought that this was cute, Ursula frowned and had just cleared off her bed, shoving all the presents and flowers in the corner. When she did, several of the girls tsked her and rescued the flowers from their untimely doom, placing them all around the room. The smell of irises quickly filled the level. Despite being unappreciative of whoever sent her these, Ursula did admit that the aroma was nice.
Even now, a day later, she had little idea of who sent all those things to her. All she could hope was that they weren't expecting something return--like her affection for drowning her room in chocolates and flowers. Sighing, Ursula set down her spoon. As she did, Ursula happened to see a somewhat familiar sight across from her at another table.
... Was that... Dorian?
Ursula wanted to laugh at the sight. No wonder why she hadn't noticed him earlier! Dorian went through some sort of identity crisis over the summer and managed to give himself a makeover--one that happened to require him redyeing his hair and shaving half his head. And... getting his ear pierced... The entire look suited his physique well, even if it made him look like a bit of a tool.
And it appears he hadn't noticed her either. The realization caused her to smirk. Ursula heard she looked a lot different than before but she hadn't noticed anything drastic about herself. A lot of the girls complimented her haircut... which made Ursula wonder if short hair made her less threatening? Less feminine so less competition? Last year, Ursula had inadvertently stolen a few boyfriends... Though if I never spoke to them, I'm not sure how "stolen" is the right word... Or maybe it was that she wasn't the new girl anymore. Or maybe it was because of the way she dressed, no longer flaunting her body in tight clothes. Either way, the everyone was finding her more approachable. Merlin only knows why, Ursula thought, unsatisfied. Being approachable wasn't a good thing.
But no matter, as of right now, it gave her a disguise. Slipping out of her seat, Ursula casually made her way over to the Slytherin table, her mere overflowing confidence keeping her from any trouble. Even when the Slytherins looked at her, Ursula was so self assured in her actions that no one gave her a second look.
When she was directly behind Dorian, she reached out and touched the shaved side of his head. "New fashion statement?" She mused, amusement showing in her eyes.

Dorian had noticed when Ursula had entered the Dining Hall..and had thought of getting up an approaching her to see if she what she thought of her gifts. That was when he got hit by a coughing fit. Gods..it hurt so bad. Why did this cold have to keep coming back and hitting him so badly? Once this dratted tea was gone he was going to the infirmary to see if the Doctor could make the chest cold go away.
He was sipping on his tea when a hand suddenly touched the side of his head. He nearly coughed up the tea that he had been drinking and turned to get a look at who had the nerve to touch his hair. His anger quickly diffused when he saw that it was Ursula. He grinned at her.
"Yeah you could say that. What about yourself? Did you decide long hair was too bothersome?" He asked looking over her now short curly hair. He rather liked the look on her. In a way it gave her a much softer look than her long hair had. And she looked a lot less intimidating and intense.
"I like your new style." He said reaching out to pull on a small curl hanging by the side of her face.

Ursula chuckled, her hand still on the fuzzy tufts about his shaved head. "You could say that," she said, making a point to give just as cryptic as response as he did. She had no intention on going into her family woes with him, despite Dorian having opened up to her last year about his own family. With that, she let her hand fall back to her side and met his eyes as he spoke.
"Thanks," Ursula responded, smoothly bending away from his touch with a casual smile. It wasn't Dorian, persay, Ursula just wasn't in a touchy feel-y mood. In fact, she hadn't been in a touchy feel-y mood in a long time. Maybe my mother conditioned something into me after all... The thought felt ironic to her.
I'm colder, aren't I? The realization made her pause but then Ursula shrugged it off, taking a seat at the Slytherin table next to Dorian. Once again, Ursula managed to remain discrete, despite being in the midst of 'enemy' territory. Why am I over here anyway? She found herself wondering with a frown. After their falling out, Ursula felt uncomfortable to be around him, constantly wondering what he wanted from her. Even when she boarded the Hogwarts Express to take her back to London, Ursula continued to feel unsure... However, now that she was back, Ursula found herself being surprisingly impartial. But I suppose it's better than feeling awkward... Ursula mused to herself, placing her hands in her pockets.
"How was your summer?" She inquired naturally. When she sat down earlier, Ursula didn't bother to put her legs under the table. Instead, they were pointed out towards the neighboring table, her back resting slightly on the Slytherin table as she sat. Because of this, Ursula didn't find a need to crane her neck in order to make eye contact with Dorian. Instead, she found her eyes resting on one of the light stands, a strange dragon-eske creature.

Dorian was glad to see her in a good mood. He couldn't remember the last time he had seen her laugh. It felt weird for her to keep her hand on his head, but he wasn't about to tell her to move it. He smiled back at her and hoped that she'd sit down by him for a bit.
He knew his housemates weren't so happy to see a gryffindor hanging around their table and shot glares at her behind her back. He stared at them pointedly in return but didn't say anything about it to Ursula. She wouldn't have cared even if she did know that the other slytherins didn't want her around them.
"Ah okay then." He replied giving her a crooked smile in return. He could tell she was trying to be cryptic to him so he'd have to ask her more questions. He was a bit frustrated when she moved away from his touch. He was careful not to show it though. Had she not found his note with the gifts he had sent up to her room?
He could feel a nasty cough coming on and had to turn away and cough into the inside of his arm. It wasn't a pleasant cough and it lasted for several moments. When he stopped he felt light headed from it. He put his head down on his arm and mumbled a reply.
"My summer was kind of crappy. I've been dealing with a horrible chest cold since then. I'm still not over it. Other than that, I got to spend a week with my sister Kory. We ended up getting new haircuts and she convinced me to get my ear pierced."
He turned his head sideways to look at her. He was starting to see stars after coughing, which probably meant the cold had gotten into his lungs. He wished he knew why his grandparents insisted on not letting him go to a wizard hospital. If they had he'd be over this dang cold by now.

Ursula noticed that Dorian was looking at something besides her (strange as it was) and she followed his eyes to some fellow Slytherins. Oh, shove off... She thought, rolling her eyes and returning her attention to Dorian. Those Slytherins could bite her a** if she bothered them so much.
When he coughed, Ursula's eyebrows rose. "That doesn't sound very good," she commented, her brows furrowing together. "Yes, I can see that," she responded to his comment that he wasn't over it yet.
She nodded slightly at the earring comment. Ursula noticed. It seemed like he had just revamped his appearance altogether. Near hair. An earring... Ursula hoped it was a tattoo next. Tattoos were hot. "Sounds like a good influence," she responded with a coy grin.
With that, Ursula stood up from where she was sitting and glanced down at him. "You should really go see the school doctor," Ursula suggested, grabbing her bag and swinging it across her body, "Because I will be nowhere near you until that cough is gone, Dorian," She gave him a smile and ruffled his hair. "Get well soon," she purred, walking out of the main hall.
