"Haha a Soquili with fins!? Who's ever seen one of those?"
Bly chuckled just thinking of it. How silly would that look? Not to mention it was just impossible. How would they keep their scales from getting dry? Speaking of dry, he smacked his lips together and contemplated the lack of moisture in his mouth. Initially hoping for some rain, he glanced at the sky. But one look at a solitary white cloud far in the distance reassured him that there would be no rain today. He blinked after staring at the sunny sky too long and saw a river after his eyes adjusted to new light.
Eagerly, he edged his way down a rocky slope towards the river. He was thirsty from traveling. He surely had inherited the urge to explore from his father. The rocks slid dangerously under his hooves, threatening to flip him onto his bottom at any moment. He frowned and looked down at the ground. "Shh!" he said to the rocks and dirt, as if they could really hear him. He stepped sideways, inch by inch down the slope; however, just as he began to trust his feet too much, the rocks pulled out from underneath him and he ran down the slope as fast as he could in a hurried panic.
His eyes widened further and further as he got closer and closer to the edge of the river. He dug his hooves into the ground, trying hard to stop. But, too late. The next thing he knew, he was in the river. He really didn't want to be wet, and the river was deeper and much more powerful than it had looked from far away. He kicked and tried hard to keep his head above water for fear of getting water in his ears, and pushed towards shore, fighting against the tide with all his might. Now he wished there were Soquili with fins, so that he could be one of them.

Wet. Cold. Shivering.
It was all sensations that Lucinda was familiar with. She was after all, a Kelpi - a strange-looking one albeit. She flicked her short finned til, feeling the wet appendage slap soft against her flank. almost reassuring her she could still feel. Laughing softly, the mare smiled. Besides her dark appearance, Lucinda was a very demure creature, and the air that surrounded her spoke of just that.
Lowering her body into the water until only her head and the top of her back-fins were visible, Lucinda relaxed, enjoying the sound of the water rushing by her head.
It wasn't until she heard the great noise of stone on stone that she raised her body, her long violet curls trailing in the water. She heard it, the splashing, struggling of someone in the water. She pushed her body forward, following the noise, her fins feeling the currents and finding a pathway.
"Is someone there? Speak out for me, please? Lead me with your voice so that I may help." She spoke aloud, hoping her voice would reach the individual over the sounds of water.

Bly's shout was interrupted by a wave splashing in his face, causing a blubbering spatter of a sound instead of a yell for help. His heavy legs, which were normally so powerful, were beginning to fail him.
"Over here!" he tried again. He could not see the source of the other voice, but he knew help was possibly on the way. That, or he was hearing things. Perhaps his mind was simply telling him what he wanted to hear. Was that possible? He found himself wondering this for one fleeting moment despite his predicament.
He finally saw her coming into view. He wasn't crazy. But how could she swim so perfectly against the rough tide while he could not? He had to be twice her size, twice the muscle and horsepower on land, but she seemed to be quite the talented swimmer. She looked like she was out for an afternoon stroll compared to his frantic paddling. (( Sorry for the short reply, it seemed much longer when I first typed it. D: ))

Her hooves skirted the rocks beneath the rushing waves, gaining little traction as she pushed her way forward. While it looked like she was having an easy time of it, Lucinda was struggling to keep in a straight line of forward motion. Imagine all your senses gone, and even your hearing deafened by the splashing and breaking of waves upon your skin; it left her confused. But still she persisted toward the voice calling, calling for her aid. It was nerve-wrecking for the mare. Never had she had someone else looking for her help.
But she would not let whoever it was down. This was her zone of life, the water.
She pushed forward, her energy boosted by adrenaline and fear for the individual. If she did not reach them... oh, she hoped that she would.
Her tail splayed out, cutting through the waves, slicing them like a hot knife through butter. "Keep calling out! Let me here your voice!" She cried out, her ears working overtime trying to pinpoint this poor fellow.

"Out out out out out!" he yelled confusedly. He wasn't sure why that was what the other wanted him to yell, but she had said to keep calling 'out' so he did just that. He tried with difficulty to push against the current, gaining some distance for his efforts. He'd be feeling this in the morning...if he survived until next morning. But he wasn't thinking about that, he was thinking that this would be a perfect time to play Marco-Polo...so instead of calling whoever "Out" was as the mare had suggested, he decided his game was a better idea, especially since splashing waves kept blocking his view of her. "Marco!" he yelled, trying not to giggle.
He was getting cold, but he couldn't focus on that now. The only thing he could do was hope that she replied with a "Polo" and found him soon. He wished there was such a thing as a soquili with fins so one could save them both right now.
