I've been looking for a job for the past 4 months, and have yet to get one. I'm supposed to be getting a call today, but seeing as it's already after 1:00, I don't see that happening. I'm probably going to have to go up to this place and ask her in person, and I don't want to seem like a nagging b***h. I'm fed up though.
I have a puppy to take care of, and living with my jobless boyfriend isn't helping either. But, on that note I'm not complaining, since he was fired for the most dumb-a** reason there is. Well, time to go eat another gallon of ice cream until these people call me. *sigh

Depending on where this place is, why not give a call instead of just showing up? Also, fired for a dumbass reason? Well, fight it, and at least file for unemployment. There's always the EEO he can file a complaint with too. Just don't settle for dumbass stuff. And whatever happens, go out and apply everywhere.
Here's something that I found out helps a lot. Go to temp agencies. Here's how they work to get you permanent jobs. If a temp agency places you in a job, and that job likes you and wants to hire you, the temp agency keeps you on their payroll for 90 days after which the company hires you. That way, your probationary period is usually up! Also, it gives you a chance to see if you like the job. If not, you tell your temp agency to find you another job. Best of both worlds. So, go out there and get something. Temp agencies always have jobs, whether it is clerical, warehouse or general labor!
Trust me, that's how I got a great job!

I know how you feel this economy sucks and with it being so close to the holidays it only gets worse when it come to finding a job. Just keep your head up and hopefully she gives you call soon.

Spicy Camel Same. I'm experiencing the exact same thing but have zero job experience .___. It sucks how nowadays you need a job in order to get a job. When McDonald's is asking for experienced applicants only, you know something has gone very wrong.

Update:
The woman did talk to me. Instead of keeping me in mind, she put someone else in the classroom with the kids I was going to be working with. Now she doesn't need anyone else. So, I went to the local School Board office to get a job as a substitute teacher, since in the state of Louisiana you only need a high school diploma to sub.
