Liam trudged through the trees around the Black Lake trying to be as quiet as he could. He had been looking for birds all morning and had only spotted a few much to his annoyance. It seemed as though they were all being scared off by the loud screams and laughs coming from the grounds. Why did kids have to be so bloody loud?
He sighed and trudged further into the trees and looked around for a place that he could sit and wait to see birds fly by. If the ground hadn't been so muddy he might have just sat down there. He decided that it might be better to climb up a tree and sit up there. Then he wouldn't be bothered by anyone while he was watching.
He finally settled on a rather big tree with branches that just begged for him to climb up. He turned his binoculars around so they were safely against his back and began to climb up. He was rather surprised and a bit miffed when he got up to the mid top of the branches and found a kid already settled up there.
He couldn't really tell if it was a girl or a boy. He figured he'd find out once he got the kid to talk.
"Oh uh, hello. Mind if I join you up here?" Liam asked.

T.J. nestled herself into the nook of one of the larger oak trees outside of Hogwarts and curled up her knees to her chest. She wasn't exactly sure why she was up there, but for a while, she just picked at the cut from other day (which, by now, was all crispy and ready for the pickings). It was like a game of chicken--how much could she scrape off before she started bleeding? It's a very delicate process... she thought to herself with a giggle. Her mother always was on her case about picking at her skin but it was just so darn fun!
Hmm...? T.J. glanced up from her nest and was surprised to see a REAL nest above her own. Wow! With much stealth and caution, T.J. pulled herself up to her full height--only to be disappointed. Darn it! She cursed to herself. She was too short! Story of her life, huh? Feeling determined regardless, T.J. shifted her weight to her toes and pushed herself up with all her might, as far as her small feet could manage.
Cautiously, she peaked up at the branch above her, trying her darned best to crane her neck in order to see if the nest had any occupants. Almost...!
"Oh uh, hello. Mind if I join--"
"AH!" T.J. yelped in surprise. Just who--? OH CRAP! She felt herself losing balance. T.J. swayed from side to side, her arms flailing before she got to the point of no return, tipping far off the branch until her feet just slipped--and T.J. dropped.
But, much to her own surprise, she caught herself on the branch. Immediately, she felt a yank and a large strain to accompany it on her arms. Best get up quickly! she thought through gritted teeth. "Hmph!" With some strain, T.J. pulled herself up and clumsily threw the rest of her body back up to the safety of the branch. All the while, her adrenaline was pumping, heart 'a thumpin' like a little rabbits.
"PHEW!" T.J. released her breath, "That was a close one!" She exclaimed between a mixture of pants and giggles. When her heart beat calmed some--Wow, that would have been a long fall!--she glanced at her near-murderer. "Yeah, come up if you want!" She invited. T.J.'s voice didn't match her stature, sounding rather low and a bit gruff. "I was trying to take a peek at that bird's nest before you came up," T.J. pointed up to the nest before maneuvering herself into a sitting position.
When she was sure she was steady, T.J. took the time to look at the boy. Firstly, she noticed his Hufflepuff colors, and then she recognized him. "Oh! You're in my year, right?" T.J. announced, looking directly at the boy. "OH--and you're that kid who snogs that one silver haired girl!" Unfortunately for whoever this kid was, T.J. wasn't good at two things. Firstly, it was remembering names. Secondly, it was remembering her manners. She was so excited that she even was able to recognize someone that the thought that she could have just insulted the boy never even popped up in her little brain.

Liam's heart nearly leaped into his chest when the other kid nearly fell to their death from his sudden appearance. "HOLD ON! I'M COMING!" He yelled and climbed up as fast as he could, not really caring how he got up there or if he scrapped up his hands.
By the time he had managed to climb up to where the kid was, he or she had managed to pull themselves up and appeared to be doing much better. Though it looked as though the girl was still catching her breath. He was sure it was a girl despite her low voice. Her sweatshirt wasn't baggy enough to hide her newly emerging chest and he figured she really didn't care for that.
By her appearance, which was rather ruddy and smudged with bits of dirt on her face and legs she was more of a tom boy and that was why it was so hard to tell what gender she had been earlier. He couldn't help but notice the multiple bandaids that were on her legs and her face.
Liam took a seat in set of forked branches across from her and shot her an apologetic smile. "Sorry for startling you. I didn't mean to scare you into falling." He glanced up at the branch that she had been trying to get to and eyed the nest. "Looks like a sparrow's nest to me." he said after examining it for a few minutes.
Liam nodded in answer to her question. "Yes, I'm a first year." The next question she shot at him had his face going a bright red. "Who told you that? I have yet to actually snog Destiny." he replied in a subdued tone.
He was rather annoyed by the fact that the kids in his House were starting rumors and talking about him and Destiny. Why couldn't people mind their own business? It would be nice to go back to his anonymous status. He would much rather be in the background instead of being the subject of public rumors.
"I'm Liam, and you are?"

"Nah, 'tis okay," T.J. cheerily responded, shifting further on the branch to give the boy some room. When flipped one leg over the other side of the branch so she could hold it between her thighs, leaving her hands free. "A sparrow?" T.J. glanced up at the nest, her head then tilting to one side. "Their eggs are blue, aren't they?" She inquired, not exactly focused on Liam at this point--I want to know if there's some eggs in there, or maybe if there's some babies... Even if she knew that she should be minding her own business--those poor birdies didn't need her peeking at them!--T.J. couldn't help it!
I should probably pay attention... T.J. dragged her eyes from the nest and looked at the blonde boy. She grinned happily when he confirmed he was a first year. Kinda sad, actually... School's been started for a while now and I still don't even know all the Hufflepuff's names... Well, what was she to do? T.J. was just hopeless when it came to putting names to faces.
The next thing he did caused T.J. to lean back in laughter. "Everyone's been sayin' that!" She grinned toothily, leaning forward towards him. "Not just me, but..." T.J. pressed her finger on her chin as she looked up in thought, "That red faced one with the pimples, the one with the brown hair that is all craaazayyy like," T.J. flapped her hands near her head in order to indicate the volume, "Annnd... some others. But it sure is out there already!--And y'said yet, so you're plannin' to, huh? What a dog." T.J. gave a boyish grin, pushing Liam lightly with her hand.
By now, curiosity was killing her so T.J. stood up where she was on the branch, grabbing another one for support as she adjusted her weight. "My name's T.J.," she responded distractedly, clinging to the taller branch. I'm thinkin' I can pull myself up enough to... T.J. moved her hands around the other side of the branch and did a little pull up, her feet kicking as she squirmed.
And there it was. Blue.
"There's eggs in here!" She announced, dropping down half hazardously to the branch where Liam was. Luckily, despite her carelessness, she just tipped back and forth a bit before quickly flopping back to a sitting position. "Three, if I counted right."

Liam was rather glad that the girl wasn't annoyed with him. The worst thing he had encountered so far was a girl that was mad at him. It seemed like they never let a guy live down something they did wrong. Thankfully it had been awhile since Liam had made a girl mad at him.
"Sparrow eggs are normally white with brown speckles, and most of the time they make nests in crevices or a hole in a tree. Though they sometimes they can be a very pale blue color as well. If it's a sparrow nest you'll be in for a treat. Their song is really lovely." Liam was practically an encyclopedia when it came to anything about birds.
Liam couldn't really remember where he had seen the girl before. He knew he had met her before he just couldn't remember where. He really needed to work on remembering faces better. He would have laughed if he had know she was thinking the same thing.
Liam's face was now an even brighter shade of red and his eyes had narrowed in his annoyance. Of course he was mad about the whole thing but he wasn't about to hit the laughing girl. "Who? Don't you know anyone's names?" He asked in annoyance. Just who was the kid with the pimples? And the crazy brown haired boy? Who the heck was that?
Man was this girl loud, Liam noticed wincing and stuck a finger on his ear and wiggled it around a bit. He hoped she'd quiet down soon, but had the feeling that she always talked this loud. Great..he had come up here to get away from noise and he had gotten someone even noisier!
Liam shot the girl an annoyed look. "What business is it of yours what I plan on doing or not?" He crossed his arms over his chest and sighed deeply. He was rather taken aback when she reached over and pushed on him. "Hey now, don't be pushing me out of the tree!" He exclaimed and grabbed hold of the branches on either side of him and glared at her.
Liam frowned. T.J.? What kind of name was that? At least it would be easy to remember.
"Well it's nice to meet you finally." He glanced at her and cringed when she once again reached for the branches up above to peer into the nest above them.
"Oh? what color?" He asked curiously. He glanced around. If he could persuade her to be quiet they might just get a chance to catch sight of the mother or father bird returning to the nest. Perhaps even hear them sing to one another. "Well I hope we didn't scare the parents off." He said with a slight frown. With how loud she was being it wasn't a surprise that they had flown off.

T.J. plopped back down on the branch and gave him a very stern look, "You shouldn't put your finger in your ear like that. 'Parently it can like push earwax to your brain," she said rather seriously before breaking out in a huge grin. "Nah, I dun actually know that but that would be bloody intense!" She whooped a little, placing her hands on the branch and lifting herself up in her excitement.
"Don't get your panties in a knot," T.J. rolled her eyes, "It would take a hella lot more effort to push you from the tree--" she paused for a second before adding, "'Cause I'm so wimpy and there's a thing called conservation of momentum." Her lips formed a pout for a few seconds before she recovered and that stupid, boyish grin returned to her face.
"They were pretty pale white, speckled, almost looked blue. So I guess you're right," Oh shoot... what was his name again? T.J. stared blankly at him for a second before she splurted out, "Good call, birdman!" Birdman? Close enough, She thought to herself, thinking herself clever. If she used a nickname, maybe this blonde boy wouldn't notice that she already forgot his name! I mean... aren't blondes supposed to be lackin' in the head? T.J. figured herself pretty much in the clear by her standards.
"How about you take a look see? The momma and the dad wer'nt in there so I figure as long as we take care not to touch the eggs or the nest directly, they should come back," T.J. began with a toothish grin, pointing with her finger towards the nest. "Watch out for that branch though--it's not very stable."

Liam ignored her stern look though he did stop wiggling his finger around in his ear. "Well if someone would stop being so loud maybe I wouldn't need to muffle the noise." He mumbled to himself in a low voice and then replied in a louder one. "Right..I know that. Just trying to stop some ringing in my ear." He was going to have to figure out a nice way to get her to stop laughing and being so bloody loud. If he could just come up with an idea that would work and soon that would help a lot.
Liam winced when she whooped loudly and closed his eyes when she lifted herself up onto the branches.
"Careful," he called when he noticed one of her branches was bending a bit too far. "I think that branch isn't all that sturdy."
Liam rolled his eyes in response to her retort. "For one thing, I don't wear panties." He shot back. He couldn't help but smile back at her when she started talking scientifically and then suddenly got that silly look on her face again.
"Well that's good, we should keep an eye out for the parents then. Usually one stays wit the eggs while the other goes hunting for food." he stopped and blinked in surprised when she called him birdman.
"Umm..it's Liam." He reminded her. "and" here he paused to look around in the tree above them. "I see one of them up there in the tree. I bet if we go down further it will come back to the nest."

"Liam!" T.J. exclaimed, wanting to smack herself in the face for forgetting. "... I knew that..." She mumbled, her lips forming a bit of a pout as she looked away from him. It's wrong to lieeee, she reminded herself with a sigh and then turned back to him, "No, I completely forgot. I lied, I'm sorry." T.J. bowed her head slightly and then looked at him with her brown eyes.
"So we go down then," T.J. announced, quickly moving one of her legs from around the three and placing her hands on the three branch for balance and support as she let the rest of her weight drop down to a lower branch. Sure, it wasn't the most graceful of performances but who cared about grace anywho? Not me! T.J. thought happily as she started to swing until she was able to get her legs onto another branch.
"So are you looking for a specific bird, Liam?" She as she hooked her knees on the other branch and stretched, her stomach exposed. "Oof." she grunted as she essentially did a sit up to get fully on the lower branch.
Once balanced, T.J. took the time to glance around for that bird Liam spotted earlier. "Oh, I think I see the momma sparrow," she grinned, "It's coloring is too dull to be a male, right?" She gave Liam a glance so he could confirm. It seemed like Liam was a nature enthusiast, especially from how much he knew about the little birdies--because like he said, as soon as they dropped down to a lower branch, the mother bird began making her way back to the nest.

Liam felt a small smirk twitch at the corners of his mouth. This girl was something else. She was definitely interesting to be around. He smiled slightly when she had admitted that she had forgotten his name. He shrugged slightly.
"That's okay, I forget lots of things."
Liam nodded at her statement. He was a bit surprised at how quickly she was able to descend from her perch. He had never seen someone move so fast. He couldn't help but be impressed. He kept an eye on the branches as she moved down, seeing at once that his heftier frame wouldn't be held up by some of the branches she had used. Which meant he'd have to find another way down. At least it helped that he had longer arms and legs..so he'd be able to reach further.
He slowly and surely made his way down, being careful not to break or skin the tree's bark with his shoes. He lowered himself, using more arm strength than legs to lower himself through the branches, until he was sitting a branch slightly below her on the tree. "Sometimes I do," He admitted in a low tone, glancing back up at the nest. "today I was just trying to get away from the noisy buggers in my house. Sometimes they just don't know when to bloody shut up." He mumbled in annoyance.
He glanced back up when she mentioned that she had spotted the momma sparrow. He pulled out his binoculars and focused in on the hovering bird. "That's right, care to have a closer look?" He asked moving slightly and holding the binoculars up to her. "Yes, females are duskier so they can blend in with the nest and not attract predators."
