It's called Best New American Voices 2010. It's supposed to be filled with all of the best short stories for that year. The only problem is that all of the stories in it are awful! stressed Either the quality of writing has dropped or the person who put all of these stories together into one big book has terrible taste. I believe it is the latter. Okay, I'm finished with my rant. The point is: don't buy this book. It'll be a waste of your money.

Clover_IceQueen Importance list: 1. fiance 2. books 3. gaia 4. toys 5. movies 6. video games 7. food You rank self preservation too lowely. Food should be at the top, the rest...yeah sure. If they compile a book like that every year, then chances are they probally are running out of good submissions, because they probally keep drawing from the same area, and thus finding new ideas may be waning. Prehaps they need to cast thier net wider. Though I stick to reading non-fiction. So, dunno.

(Yes, there is magic in the non-fiction section.) I also can't write non-fiction to save my soul, so I stick to fiction lol

I also can't write non-fiction to save my soul, so I stick to fiction lol Science is mainly what I read about. Hmm then thats misfiled. Unless you mean illusion. Illusions are based on science. But magic as a artform/skill makes sense as well, how to do magic, is as nonfiction as how to draw manga. And I can spew about 1500 words of science on probally most biology things without even trying now.

Non-fiction magic: -meditation -crystals -runes -Wicca Calling wicca magic makes me sad....Magic is trickery and illusion. I feel you are confusing Magick with Magic. I dont understand anything magical about meditation. Mediation is pretty well defined and explained. Crystals, depends on what your saying, but certain propertys of crystals are well explained. But using crystals for healing and such...although a lot of it is based in placeboism, still its more magick than magic. Runes/tarrot is more or less based on people reading and knowing how to draw info out of the participant. I praticed tarrot for a while, I was quite good. Until I figured out just how good I am at drawing information out of people indirectly and redirecting thought. Im not saying people who work in future divination are purposefully misleading people, I used to believe in what I was doing before I understood it too. But still, calling a connection and understanding of the movement of energys Magic is saddening. If you think its all a trick, prehaps you are the one being mislead. Magick on the other hand is the understanding and use of those energys.

Hey! I’m talking! cat_scream
book-related fun facts: you guys know how book publishers make a new edition of their books practically every year? in the US (or maybe just NY), they're looking into it. they're gonna make it so that they can't make a new edition unless at LEAST 25% of the book has changed (and by changed, they mean NEW info, not the stuff already in there being moved around), which will mean less of that o-hey-we-moved-this-chapter-over-to-here-it's-a-new-edition! bullcrap, if not eliminated. ALSO: you know how you buy a book new at a college bookstore for $200 and when you return it in basically the same condition, you get $10 and they turn around and resell at, say, $180? they're looking into that, too, which will mean the person with the book will get half their money back at the least, best my dad can guesstimate
Ok, I’m done. Go back to your babble

Sorry as someone who practised wicca, I dont like it when people confuse what its about with something else very different. If your angry about me making fun of stage illusions. Im not, although Im not that big on magic, I can appreciate it as a art form.
