Wandering around the fog itself, even attempting to navigate through the whites and greys was becoming something of a feat. For students, horsemen, even Hunters who were not looking carefully, all it took was a single second, a blink, a moment of distraction
- Perhaps the sound of a slow shuffle or a loud series of clicks -
- Perhaps the whisper of a familiar voice, a loved one or close friend calling them closer -
- And then everyone and everything around them faded. They were trapped.
They were lost.
OOC
WELCOME TO THE DUNGEON FINDER: HH FOG STYLE
gaia_crown[ [ How does this work? ] :
Players that are not currently in a battle thread (or its fine if they are as long as you establish a timeline of when this happens), who are feeling a little brave or a little lost really, are free to rp here. This serves as an orp and GM established LFG thread combined. Imagine this rp as a DIRECT continuation of this prompt here.
HOWEVER.
Posting with your character(s) - as many as you'd like and own - here means you are willing to place your characters posted into random groups with other players. This will happen ICLY through gm prompts. A GM (most likely an admin) will quote several players, as the fog rises and shifts - and these players may find themselves stranded with each other. - Make sure to post in OOC in EACH OF YOUR POSTS: your character's name, their faction, a small description of them, and the year they are in (as there is no battle allowed in this thread, don't worry about HP values/ attack etc)
gaia_crown[ [ The GM has quoted me, what do I do? ] :
- IF a GM has quoted you, they will leave OOC instructions as to where to go, by making a NEW HH BATTLE THREAD for your group. They will also roll FOR YOU the status effect in the FIRST POST so you know what status effect your group is getting. This is a RANDOM group. Think of it as several random players lost in the fog that unfortunately happen to stumble upon each other! They could be of the same faction, they could be of different factions. You are free to battle or hold off from it, general HH and PVP rules apply - Move to the thread the GM prompts you to, start the rp there. React to RPs from other players. Basically the only thing the GM has done is SET UP A BATTLE THREAD (interaction thread) for you with RANDOM PLAYERS. Enjoy!
gaia_crown[ [ The GM has pmed me, what do I do? ] :
- Posting in this thread MAY prompt a PM from a GM! This may lead to something a little more grim, a sort of unhappy ending for your character, as the fog whispers to them.. and perhaps consumes them whole.... - If this happens to your character, you will be instructed in pms as to what to do, though you may also be directed to a thread!
gaia_crown[ [ I have posted a post here but the GM has not quoted me! ] :
- Relax! It will take some time to assemble and form groups. In the meanwhile, continue to rp in this thread. Feel free to interact with anyone else wandering around even in this thread, whether it be hostile tension or simple a passing comment - the fog is rather thick so you may see someone one moment and they may be buried in the white the next! - No PVP in this orp for now please, but unlimited rp posts and reactions! If you have been quoted by a GM please EXIT the thread immediately and rp in that thread. Once again this is an orp not a place to post OOC findings (use the other thread for that!) - If you already have been quoted by a GM/ selected, please FINISH your quoted rp or wait an OOC 24 hours before posting back with that specific character. - Special events (IC) may also happen in this thread, who knows.... maybe someone is watching them.. .
gaia_crown[ [ I already posted in the other looking for group thread/ I have a group! ] :
- That's fine you can still post and rp here! The other LFG thread is more a fast and dirty way for groups to assemble together without GM intervention or if people are looking for a specific character etc etc. This one is a full team that a GM will help assemble for you with a small twist. - If you already have a battle thread you can still post here, just make sure you have your timelines sorted out. Of course you can also post with all other characters as well!

All of five minutes inside of the Haunted House and Ren had already lost track of both LW and Tybalt. Irritated, he had stalked around in a frenzy, trying to find them again, but the fog was too thick and his head hurt and everything seemed to be misting over.
Needless to say, he hadn't been very successful. Now he wandered down the hall, his wings tucked neatly against his back to avoid brushing into anything, every so often giving an anxious flutter.
Being in here put him on edge.
Ren turned a corner, and had just started down another hallway when he heard it - a faint whisper, one that tugged at him, settled into his thoughts. A familiar voice, and though he couldn't quite place it, it was a warmly familiar one, someone who wanted him to come and find them ...
He took a step forward. The walls around him turned a smeary white grey, swirling and melting and collapsing until there was nothing but grey and white and the whispering was gone, leaving him standing in the midst of...nothing.
Ren was utterly alone.

Nobody in Amityville could possibly be as excited about this fog as Pepin Molyneau. Every noisy dot, flickering graphic, mosaic pixelation was delightful, dancing magically around her. This acid glitch trip which was interpreted so very uniquely by the ghoul was not mysterious to her. It was so welcoming, so homely. The fog and its shadowy inhabitants whispered to her kindly, in their wretched woefulness, in a way that she had no other choice but to retreat to with open arms.
"aaAAaaAaaaAaaaahh~" her voice sang out synthetically. Pepin danced through the hall in light gravity and brushed against each wall in brief bursts of intestacy. "~oh please don't go~" she whimpered as a shadowy figure in the fog led her through swarms of pixels to dead end after dead end.
Standing eagerly at the foot of a staircase she giggled excitedly and stomped her foot on the ground. "~Let's play!~ Come on come on!" A smile curled across her lips and she proceeded up the steps into more of the fog, completely lost to the swirling mist around her. And she did not care. Nope, no self loathing apathetic Pepin, just very happy to see some familiarity in this lovely place.

Jake had... no idea where he was.
Shut up Shut UP.
To be honest, he was still getting used to this whole "telepathic talking" thing. It was bad enough his head space was now invaded by this... this THING, but he was in ENEMY TERRITORY now. He couldn't afford giving away his position by talking out loud to some imaginary voice.
"I SAID SHUT UP, DAMMIT!"
... crap.

He stumbled through the fog, his arm dripping a trail of blood that rapidly disappeared in the ensuing whiteness. Though his vision kept wavering in and out, and he disliked the fact that he was soiling his best robes with his injuries, Mengyao did not stop moving.
He could hear more voices than the ones in his head.
He closed his eyes, inhaled, opened them, and kept walking.
** just as a note Mengyao is at like 1 hp whee

When Shine realized where she was, there was already enough dread in the pit of her stomach that the fog's interference hardly made a difference. Here. She was always lost when she managed to find herself here.
Her hands were sticky with sugar and covered in bits of moss and dirt, but she wiped at the smudges of tears nonetheless, streaking muck across her face. She'd been playing 'house' with her 'dolls', the vaguely humanoid clumps of mud and plant life affectionately named after everyone she cared about, when she found she could no longer ignore the allure of the soft, cool coils of mist near her feet. She'd set her dolls aside and followed it with a frown, and it had tricked her into coming here.
She bit her bottom lip until her teeth almost went through it. She wouldn't cry. She couldn't cry. She knew crying would bring others, and she didn't want to make any of her friends get lost here, too.

Senga didn't know where he'd come from, or how he'd ended up here.
Only that the voices in his head had returned, and now they were crooning, calling, haunting him down to his core. The executioner keened quietly into the white, angry at the fog, angry at himself for losing sight of Jay and Iyari so quickly into their first venture into the Haunted House. His skull felt thick and heavy, his feathers rustling dully to ward away the clinging mist. He was lost, and angry, and he didn't know where to go from here.
Medea had given them commands, and yet he felt no desire to follow them. She'd told them to fight it, the Insanity, and he knew that it was important but - how was he supposed to fight something when it was already in his head? The gray markings seemed so pale and stark against his skin, like scars and fissures running miles deep beneath the flesh and to his core.
Senga pushed his hands to his mouth and exhaled, the warmth of his breath stilling the restlessness for only a moment. His eyes lidded, and the white swallowed his vision, but he continued to walk. He had to keep going, keep walking, even if he didn't know where.
He had to keep going, keep walking, because there was no other choice.
Senga closed his eyes and continued onwards into the mist.

If there had been anything proven to him soundly, it was that Shik had a profoundly terrible sense of direction - and that had been in the Weeping Forest looking for seeds. Here, in the fog? Awful.
Maybe the only non-awful thing thus far had been the glance he had stolen of a particularly hip-y ghoul which . . . By Jupiter, he didn't know ghouls were made like that. He definitely strived to get ouf of range of the mechanical screeching she apparently thought was music, its synthetic quality grating on his ears.
But really, the only thing Shik could follow was the smell of blood, a scent all too familiar for the horseman to ignore. A brow was raised as he tracked the source to a stumbling Conquest horseman who looked as though he had already had his first bout - and from a decent opponent too by the looks of it. "You're shambling like a zombie," he observed casually, taking a few steps to follow after Mengyao. "A few of those wounds should be looked at." Like perhaps the majority of his body.

Mort couldn't stay away. Dissipation or not, just the knowledge that something was going on made it impossible for him to focus on anything in school. The first time had been for a scoping out, a simple reconnaissance and observation. Now he wanted to conduct some actual field work.
The problem was, well . . . finding it again. For a few moments he was sure he was going to be wandering the mists forever until they consumed him, which was alarming enough to keep the zomboil going and almost run into the undead ghoul. "Sorry, sorry!" he hastily apologized, recognizing her after a few blinks and waving off of mist. "Mrrr, Shine . . .? You alright?" Well that was probably a silly question, given the circumstances.
Right afterwards he heard someone shout a curse and immediately turned his head towards it, on alert for something to come trekking out of this maddening mist. Or at least that was what Mort figured someone would be cursing about right now. Jackdamn did he hate fog!

Text to Amphi: Perhaps you should worry more about yourself, with your tendency to get into trouble.
Thanatos, having spent a good minute and a half comforting an unsettled Biskoto, had only recently noticed the text that had been sent by Amphi. It did not take him long to reply, and once that was done, he had walked in the direction of the real Amityville... Only to have somehow ended up in the fake one. Although he was pretty calm about it, his familiar was not - in fact, she was the opposite of calm, hissing unhappily while looking around, looking as anxious as a snake could possibly look.
"I can't sssssee anything," She was tensed up, and the reaper could feel his arms slowly going numb from her squeezing them a little too hard, "Are we lossssst?"
Thanatos decided not to answer; if he had made a choice to turn back, only to find himself back where he did not choose to go, then fate - heh - must be trying to lead him somewhere. It wasn't long before he spotted a figure - a tangible figure, rather than something made out of fog - ahead. As he approached, he grinned, about to say something when his familiar decided to cut in, sounding absolutely worried.
"Are you lossssst too, darling?"

Mot had followed the strange fog, and ended up here. Wherever here was, he didn't know. He still couldn't find the turned students he'd seen disappear. Couldn't find a familiar face. He'd come all this way, put himself at risk. Was it really for the sake of others? Or had he come to redeem himself, make himself feel beter about turning away the last time he could have made a difference?
I don't like the fog. Sherry could barely see her hand in front of her as she tried in vain to wave the fog away.
It had started innocently enough, much like any other mission. Go through the portal and figure it out from there. Sure, she'd planned to hang around the portal and scrounge up a group or a buddy or something, but the sound of a voice had caught her attention, and she'd turned to check it out. All she'd found was fog. Endless, white, whispering fog. The trainee knew voices came out of tainted fog, so she should have known better. Still, she could have sworn she hadn't taken more than five steps before realizing her mistake, so being this lost was a bit surprising.
But dwelling on how she got here wasn't going to help. She'd already discovered that going in the direction she thought she'd come from led nowhere. All there was, was more fog.
"You are so encouraging."
This was a really bad way to start a mission.

"That was YOUR fault." he growled under his breath. "Why couldn't you of just FRIGGIN' SHUT UP and give me a moment's sense of-"
Footsteps. Voices. The fog was too thick, and voices too faint for him to make out what it said, or who was there, but nonetheless, he kept alert. He griped the bladed tonfas tightly in each hand and his eyes darted about, scanning the area. It'd be more effective if he could actually SEE something though.
"Not now." "No s**t, Sherlock, I heard it too." Chester ignored the sarcastic tone in his voice.

One bright gold eye, starkly visible in the white fog, flicked towards the figure who had spoken.
"I am perfectly fine," said Mengyao, recognizing the horseman as Shikoba after a few seconds of trying to wrap his hazy brain around the familiar face. "Do not presume that I am anything else."
This, of course, was a blatant lie. He was hardly standing upright as it was, there were dark bruises on his face and neck, his robes looked as though they had been put through the grindstone, and one arm was cradled against his stomach, scarlet staining the blue silk fabric he was usually so cautious about taking care of.
Scowling, Mengyao pushed past him and kept walking - or trying to walk, as it was, since he was moving at a much slower pace than he was used to and it was difficult to see straight.
Ren, already on edge, jumped at least a foot at the sudden hissing voice.
"Jeez!" he gasped, spinning around, a hand pressed to his chest as he tried to calm down his now rapidly beating heart. "Don't do that!"
Once he had gotten a closer look, however, and noticed that the figure in question was neither a hunter nor a horseman, but instead a tall, dark-skinned boil with an enormous black and white snake wrapped around his neck and arms, Ren gave a long exhale.
"Sorry," he said, and his wings fluttered against his back. "I, er, yes I'm lost, and it's a bit....well, creepy in here. Are you, er, a student at Amityville?"

Sherry stopped cold. Voices. More voices in the fog. She knew the fog whispered, but some of these voices sounded different. Some were louder than others, possibly closer. It was hard to tell; the fog distorted everything.
More false voices? She wanted another opinion.
We can't. There may be hunters in there.
I'm glad your in my head and not stuck in the fog with me.
What does that mean? Wait. Don't tell me. Just...try to be helpful. Sherry turned her attention back to the fog around her. Some of those voices sounded really close. After a moment's thought, she decided on a course of action. Standing around wondering if a voice was false or not was getting her nowhere.
"Is someone there?" Calling out into the fog wasn't stealthy, but neither was wandering around in it with an outstretched arm. "Anyone?"
