Alec Calloway was born to Alicia Calloway his mother, and grew up with no father to speak of. At the age of only fourteen, odd things began to happen to the young boy from Florida. His mother would wake up frequently with gallons upon gallons of water seeming to cascade from Alec's bed, he'd begin to suffer random bouts of suffocation, and his eyes began to change color off an on during the day. He'd always been an avid swimmer, however he began to notice that his swim times became abnormally fast during some meets, and he could hold his breath underwater for longer periods of time than others. It wasn't until an incident where his house flooded from the inside and destroyed the foundation as well as rattled his mother that Professor Charles Xavier of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Children appeared.
The meeting was long and arduous, however at the end of it both Alec and his mother resolved it would be best for him to attend his school for the duration of high school. Alec spent four years harnessing his abilities at the school until a mission out in the Bermuda Triangle. For eight months Alec went missing, with all attempts to find him psychically and physically by the X-men being in vain. The truth was, Alec was kidnapped by his father Poseidon, Greek God of the Sea. The Bermuda Triangle was later explained as the doorway to his domain, Alec's growing affinity for his abilities unlocking the portal and throwing him in with his father waiting. As the story went even in Greek myth it was not uncommon for gods to have human consorts, and his mother happened to be one. However, it had been a long time that Poseidon had fathered a child capable of accessing his powers so readily without being of full god-like lineage. In exchange for fully magically exposing Alec to the other powers that lay dormant within, he asked him to aid the heroes in ridding the world of Titanspawn, other superhumans who were descendants of titans.
After eight months of training with his father in the depths of an underwater realm that was said to exist in another dimension, he was sent back through the portal and found unconscious and washed up on a beach with his new costume on. The costume resembled that of another water affiliated superhero, one who was a descendant of the people of a city graced with Poseidon's knowledge and power as a god. Upon his return to the X-mansion, Alec trained for four more months after enrolling at NYU and acquired the X-moniker of Atlantis after the city his father gifted his knowledge to. He now studies Marine Science or Oceanography in his first year at NYU and primarily stays at the X-mansion, protecting New York and other parts of the East Coast from a world riddled with good and evil. He hopes to one day intern under the famous Tony Stark within his company in order to manage and produce equipment to preserve the ocean's ecosystems.

Underwater Breathing/Speed Like his father, Alec adapted the ability to breathe underwater. It is unclear as to how he does so, however after ongoing experimentation with the ability, Professor Charles Xavier speculates the boy uses his pores as a way to filter in and out the water at a rapid pace. Just as well, Alec is capable of reaching a top speed of 2,000 feet per second underwater, a clear indicator of his lineage and possible genetic link to the Atlantean race.
Enhanced Vision/Under-Water Sonar
On land, Alec's affinity for darkvision excels. However, as his powers continue to grow in his young age, he is showing signs of a limited ability to use infravision (heat vision) as well as the ability to visually see the bioelectricity all living things produce like some fish. His ability to see through infravision as well as his darkvision come from training miles under the sea with his father. His abilities to see via infravision and bioelectricity are currently limited to a radius of forty feet, while his darkvision is just as clear as his regular vision. Underwater, Alec is able to use a type of telepathic sonar, capable of bouncing off of anything within 100 yards and returning the information as visual input as to what the objects are.
Superhuman Strength/Endurance/Agility Being a demi-god with mutated genes, these powers were among the many that laid latent within him until training with his father. Having trained and lived in the deepest pressures of the sea for months at a time, Alec's abilities topside are drastically enhanced. He's shown to be able to lift up to something in size and weight to a bus. Just as well the young man is quite agile on land, able to reach speeds of forty M.P.H on foot and dodge consistent obstacles while doing so, showing his reaction speed to be enhanced as well. However, what is truly stellar about his abilities of the three is his durability. The pressure he has trained under has been great enough to shatter bone, however his innate genetics allowed his bone structure to stay in tact. Needless to say after months of training, the boy is quite capable of sustaining quite the strike and standing back up for more. Overall it could be said that Atlantis inherited his combat reflexes from his father, a god who sided with the Greeks against the Trojans.
Water Manipulation
Alec's foremost and primary ability is water manipulation. He's able to literally pull moisture from the air as well as on a small scale create water molecules in a space where there are none. He's capable of pressurizing water to an incredible extent, a single stream capable of slicing steel cleanly. He's able to make small and thin pressurized water constructs such as staffs, swords, and daggers to use at will without their strength being reduced. He can also used pressurized water to make walls or barriers as strong as steel, his most powerful barrier being a ball of constantly swirling water that he can float in, however sustaining the construct causes him and it to move fairly slow. His standard attack is the torrent ball, a ball of continuously cascading water that upon impact has the force of being hit by a car going 35 M.P.H. He's able to manipulate existing sources of water and 'feel' them as well, making fighting him near a body of water particularly difficult. This ability also allows him to produce a large jet of water out of each palm in order to levitate or fly at low speeds in the air.
Weaknesses: Although to a small extent Atlantis can redirect the flow of electricity, he's found that most mutants or superhumans with the ability to control lighting or electricity can cause serious harm to him while he uses his abilities, thus limiting what he can use from his arsenal of powers. Also in desert climates, it's been found out that his ability to create water on a molecular level is very limited, so the constructs he can create are as well limited in size and therefore strength depending on what it is.

X-Communicator: Like all X-men, Alec carries an X-communicator on his persons, disguised as a watch when not in costume, and as a belt on his costume. This is used to communicate with other X-men or get in contact with the Mansion when needed, as well as be communicated as well.
The Divining Rod: A staff given to him by his father, it is made of a light yet durable metal alloy whose origins are unknown. The staff is collapsible and kept on his X-belt (the X-communicator belt he has) for use in battle. It can extend up to six feet in length, and can withstand holding or taking up to 400lb of force without damage. It is called the divining rod after ancient forked materials used to find subterranean sources of water or minerals. Alec can also continue to manipulate water with this as a medium.
