This application form will be for those members who think they have what it takes to host a room! Once chosen as a host you will get to choose a team of co-hosts and, together, it is up to you to plan your room for the ball.
This is not an application to be a co-host! Co-host applications will come later once the rooms are set up.
Planning your room will include planning the story and plot for your individual room. This will either tie into, or be a part of, what we decide for the main plot so you will need to make sure you are aware of the main plot for the ball.
Planning your room will also include coming up with characters for the hosts and co-hosts, tekteks of those characters, and art, both for the room and for the characters. You will also need to think of fun contests for your rooms and decide who is going to run them. Don't leave everything to one host because once the ball begins it is very difficult to manage everything and a room.
There should be a room mule created, as well. This mule will post the thread and be accessible by ALL members of that room as well as the Main Host (me) just in case something needs to be edited in the ball thread and the person who posted the thread isn't around. Your room funds will also be sent to this mule.
There is much more to room planning than this, but this is a short summary to give you an idea of what to expect and help you decide if you would like to take this position. Remember - there will be five rooms besides the newsroom, so that means five main hosts and five secondary hosts for each room. Ten applicants from this thread will be chosen. If this seems like a lot to remember then just remember this: there are many people in the ball with years of experience. Even if you are new to the ball there is no reason to be intimidated or to lack confidence -- no applicant will be laughed at or discouraged. There will always be people you can ask for help or advice, so chins up while filling out your applications!
Also; don't be afraid to nominate people to apply! Sometimes people just need a little vote of confidence and they will prove to be amazing hosts!

In what capacity did you attend?: In the 9th, I was a guest, and in the 10th I was a co-host/host in the school room. To clarify, I was a co-host until we needed someone to step up to help fulfill hosting duties while one of our hosts was uncertain as to if she would be able to help much.
Have you experience running/attending other USER run events?: If you count guilds. Otherwise, no.
Which one(s): Panem Et Circenses :: The Hunger Games (Captain), Tales of Somnium Quies (Captain, continuation of room from 10th Ball), Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry Roleplay Guild/Ministry of Magic & the Wizarding World/ Académie de Magie Beauxbâtons (Crew, largest Harry Potter roleplaying guild network)
Are you on a committee right now & which one?: Yup, the Plot Committee. I also am in the process of making the Roleplaying Tutorial and will be mentoring there once I finish it.
Can you commit to spending the most of a weekend to stay on the computer?: Computer? Please, I'm a mobile Gaian. I can be on whenever and wherever. So yes, I can dedicate an entire weekend to the Ball.
And, by this, I do mean an entire weekend once we choose it - savvy?: Aye-aye cap'n! pirate
How much time do you spend on Gaia?: At least two hours a day on my desktop. From my phone I can be on for as long I need to be, so long as I'm not in class or rehearsal or the like.
Do you have much role-playing experience?: About two years of experience. On my low days I'm semi-literate, on my best days I'm literate.
Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: I'm always up for learning new things, and I'd like to become a teacher, so I'd love to be able to teach. In fact I'm going to be mentoring my neighbor on the violin. I'm already a teacher!
Will you be online regularly and do what is required of you for your room?: I wouldn't sign up otherwise, and again, I am a mobile Gaian. I know what it means to have a room be amazing, and I know the work required to have it.
Can you manage a team of 5-7 people in one room?: I'm crew in a guild of over 100, and I'm captain of a guild of over 50 people. I think I can handle 5-7 pretty well.
If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: I would first go speak with my room host buddy and see what they think of it. Sometimes, I may over-react, and so I like getting a second opinion. I would then speak privately to all parties involved so I can accurately get the story together. Depending on the situation, I would either demote them (if a co-host) or put them on probation for a week if they are just a roleplayer. They will still know what's going on, but any ideas would have to be filtered through myself or the other host. If it involves myself and the other host, I would go to the main ball host, which is what I would do if I could not get a handle on the situation myself.
Are you willing to adapt according to change, either in room staff, room plot, or anything else?: Of course, after the bumps along the way last year I learned that change happens, and it's not always a bad thing. Things won't go as planned and during the ball, there's not too much you can do.
If you are feeling stressed or overburdened will you ask for help?: Of course I will! I'll also be here for anyone who needs help if I've got the time!
If something comes up and takes you away from the Ball will you let the leaders know so they can replace you if necessary?" Yes. It's not fair to have the room suffer because of me.

In what capacity did you attend?: I was only a guest but I was deeply impressed
Have you experience running/attending other USER run events?: No I have not run any event yet but I have participated in an event.
Which one(s): Sadly only Camp NSTG but I took a very active role as participant and some threads were active and kept alive partly due to me.
Are you on a committee right now & which one?: I'm on the advertising committee and I have applied to the plot committee.
Can you commit to spending the most of a weekend to stay on the computer?:Yes I am currently a student so committing time to stay on the internet is not a problem.
And, by this, I do mean an entire weekend once we choose it - savvy?: Yes I understand and if you have seen my activity you would see I already am able to do so.
How much time do you spend on Gaia?:4 hours a day minimum but at this time around 12 hours because I'm doing other things at the same time and my computer is easy to reach in my home.
Do you have much role-playing experience?: I have almost no experience in role-playing but I am very dedicated and have a great mind for creative thinking,
Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: I am very much willing to learn as much as I can or even teach the little I know if necessary.
Will you be online regularly and do what is required of you for your room?:Yes, regularity is no problem and I always do what is required and strive to do more.
Can you manage a team of 5-7 people in one room?:I believe I can do so even if I have never done so before because I am skilled at delegation work and organizing.
If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?:I will solve it logically and intelligently without getting any personal feelings involved.
Are you willing to adapt according to change, either in room staff, room plot, or anything else?:I have no problem to adapt according to change because I never get dug down or stuck and always feel it is a good idea to analyze multiple possibilities and act upon them when so is required.
If you are feeling stressed or overburdened will you ask for help?: Of course I will because it wont help anyone if someone is stressed and burdened and everything works more efficiently when the workload is shared.

If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: I will take the people involved aside (As in private message them) trying to get each of their sides of the story of what they believe happened. If we can get to a solution from there we can take the solution, if the solution doesn't work, then a possible kind warning, then if it keeps happening, I would have to remove the person from the room if it is deemed as going to interfere with the productivity and atmosphere of the room.

In what capacity did you attend?: For the 8th (2010), I was a guest (but only for a day or so, as we had company coming). For the 9th, I was a cohost in the Sloth Room. This past year I was a co-host in the Fantasy Room and the Noir Spy Room.

Which one(s): I played Maleficent in the Annual Ball Halloween Event last year, and I also played a ghost (Tallulah McGregor) in a Halloween RPing event for another guild, Vetus Gaianus. (Guild members hosted the event, but it was a public thread, and we had some guests from outside the guild.)

How much time do you spend on Gaia?: I'm on all day everyday unless I need to leave for RL purposes like sleeping, eating, going to the store to buy food. In other words I don't work and I don't go to school. Disabled and can't work. I may end up in the hospital once or twice a year but I pray that don't happen now that I live away from stress.

If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: I'll PM the person or persons involved, separately of course, and try to get a straight story. I will be calm and cool and impartial to the confrontation, meaning I won't take sides, and feels and friendships won't get in the way or cloud my judgement. If I need to I will ask for help and guidance from the boss lady and my second in command. I will base my decision and judgement on the severity of the issue.

How much time do you spend on Gaia?: I come on almost everyday and try to sneak on whenever I get the chance. I do still go to school so my time can be a little limited but I try to get on before school starts for any updates as well.

Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: Not much of a teacher honestly, but I can and will/would try.

How much time do you spend on Gaia?: It depends. Usually during the ball planning and events, I'm on for at least two hours during a school day. On the weekends, I'm usually on for a good four hours at the least.
Do you have much role-playing experience?: I've been roleplaying on this website since 2007. I've been considered an above average, or literate, roleplayer for about two or three years now.
Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: Most definitely! I'm always here to help!
Will you be online regularly and do what is required of you for your room?: Always! Always! Always!
Can you manage a team of 5-7 people in one room?: As long as they are as serious about the ball as I am, then yes.
If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: First, I would keep it out of the concern of those who are not involved. Secondly, I would be speaking to who it involves trying to get facts and stories straight. Lastly, I would work together with them and try to come to a logical and justified conclusion.
Are you willing to adapt according to change, either in room staff, room plot, or anything else?: Positively. It's natural selection. Survival of the fittest! Charles Darwin would be proud!
If you are feeling stressed or overburdened will you ask for help?: Of course! I would contact those to whom it matters and trying to work my way around things. I wouldn't want to let it bottle up and drag the rest of the guild down with me in the end.

Have you attended the Annual Ball?: Lol yes and I even ran it last year.
Which one(s): 6th- current.
In what capacity did you attend?: 6th was a guest, 7th room host, 8th room host, 9th secondary room host and 10th as main host.
Have you experience running/attending other USER run events?: Somewhat with both.
Which one(s): Mostly ones I ran.
Are you on a committee right now & which one?: No.
Can you commit to spending the most of a weekend to stay on the computer?: Between work hours yes. If it's for the actual ball date I can book it off.
And, by this, I do mean an entire weekend once we choose it - savvy?: Totes.
How much time do you spend on Gaia?: lol I'm always on Gaia, even if I don't respond to people....
Do you have much role-playing experience?: Yes.
Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: Of course.
Will you be online regularly and do what is required of you for your room?: Of course.

Which one(s): all of the ones from feb onwards
Are you on a committee right now & which one?: yes, the host club
Can you commit to spending the most of a weekend to stay on the computer?: yep~ i'll even wake up at 4 for the opening of it.... did it last time...

If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: i would hear both sides of the story, look into it further by my own, too get my opinion on it as well and if i'm in-divisive i would also go to a second person and ask them their opinion about whats happening before deciding

Which one(s): I helped participate in several user run events last year as well as running April's Event. Mostly as a role-player.
Are you on a committee right now & which one?: I have applied for Art Commitee. I am participating in the role-play thread.
Can you commit to spending the most of a weekend to stay on the computer?: Yes, though it may be odd hours.
And, by this, I do mean an entire weekend once we choose it - savvy?: As much as possible.
How much time do you spend on Gaia?: Nearly everyday for upwards of four hours. Depends.
Do you have much role-playing experience?: Well I'm no expert but role-playing is all I seem to do on Gaia...So about four years worth.
Are you willing to learn/teach based on your level of experience?: Of course.
Will you be online regularly and do what is required of you for your room?: As much as I am able.

If a confrontation arises, how will you handle it?: Deal with the situation as smoothly and civily as possible. Then ask for help from secondary and finally speak to the person in charge of the Guild. I would like to believe I could handle the situation on my own, but I am no tyrant and will lesson to advice if it is given.
Are you willing to adapt according to change, either in room staff, room plot, or anything else?: I will and can adapt. Real life issues and the like happen nearly constant. I understand how it can be.
