The G R I M O I R E Café S E T T I N G The Grimoire cafe is placed right in the middle of The Undead City and Redfern City. During the day it serves the human crowds though undead can specially reserve a private tea room upstairs as long as they don't bother the human crowd. During night time the cafe serves the undead crowd which consists mostly of students attending The Undead Academy.
The cafe serves as a neutral ground. Just like the school it has rules against fighting between the patrons. Zombie, Human, or Ghost, if you break this rule you will be escorted out of the cafe. They recommend that if you are not comfortable with members of the other races that you stick to your designated time. Day for humans, night for undead.
(( Due to time differences we've decided to make separate threads for the night and day shift. This will be the night shift and the new thread will be the day shift. ))
I N F O R M A T I O N Ghosts Ghosts are the remnants of a powerful emotion left behind after a persons death. Until an event that has a strong presence on their death takes place they wander around unaware. However once this event happens (last member of their family dying, their murderer dying, their loved one finally moving on to happiness, ect) they become aware of themselves and start learning about their powers. All ghosts can take a tangible form. They can phase through objects and also cause other objects to become intangible as long as they are holding on to it. As long as the ghost has physical contact with the item/person they can also phase through things. Ghosts can't normally be harmed, however certain things like magic or faith items can harm them. Ghosts can't die again but they can be dispelled if a person of great power performs a ritual to do so. They don't actually taste food and don't have to eat or drink. However some of them find it more comforting to eat and simply remember what it tastes like. Zombies The walking dead. They can only be killed if they are set on fire or blown to pieces. They don't heal however so if they're hurt they'll have to replace/stitch/patch their wounds. Zombies have to eat at least once daily, preferably flesh or raw meat, though they can eat normal foods as well. Zombies hearts don't beat, they don't have to breathe, ect. However they don't feel pain though there is still sensation. They can feel when someone touches them and their skin can be sensitive due to genetic memory. A brand new zombie might even experience pain the first time they are cut because they are so used to feeling it. However over time they can learn to block out certain sensations. ۞

The G R I M O I R E Café
Okay, so here is a link to the layout of the cafe. Please remember that the proportions are approximate and this map is mostly for you to know what the cafe contains. There is a key for the map in the image, but the basic idea that green is public and red is employees only. If you need to download the image to have on hand, be kind and don't post it elsewhere as your own.
Layout of the Store
As far as menu goes, think like any Panera or Starbucks or coffee place. There is lots of different kinds of coffee and tea. There are sandwiches, soups, and scores of muffins, cakes, scones, and other baked goods. There are also homemade smoothies that are the house specialty. Many of the items have magic related names to fit in with the Grimoire's theme.
Sandwiches and any other product with meat can be served "Undead Style" using raw meat and such for members of the undead who wish it. Humans be warned, Undead Style is at your own risk. All orders served Undead Style are in black trimmed bright red dishes so it is obvious which you have.
Smoothies (called Mana Potions) come is six flavors:
Order--Pale Yellow in color this is a banana/mango mix that is smooth and creamy. Life--Green in color this mix of green apple/pineapple and melon never tastes the same twice. Chaos--Red in color this strawberry/pomegranate mix is both sweet and tart. Death--Dark Purple in color this is a blackberry/raspberry mix that is thick and chunky. Trickery--Blue in color this blueberry/acai mix has a sweetness that sneaks up on you. Craft Your Own--Any combination of up to five fruits blended just for you.
Mana Potions are served in three sizes: Minor (12 oz), Regular (20 oz), and Greater (32 oz)
Special Requests taken pending chef/owner approval.

The G R I M O I R E Café
Here is a rundown of the Grimoire staff. If you desperately want to play one of these characters (except Shiro and Kuro, they're taken) let me or IQ know.
David and Linda Cunningham Ages: 35 and 34 respectively Story: The Owners. After meeting in high school and dating briefly, they had a falling out and didn't see each other for ten years. They met again by chance at a fundraiser for the company Linda worked for. David was an up and coming chef and was catering the event, and Linda was a successful business woman ready to strike it out on her own. They fell back in love and married, and opened what would become the Grimoire Cafe. David is fun loving and charming while Linda is business savvy, an accounting genius, and fair minded.
Matthew Ayers Age: 21 Story: Night Cashier. Matthew (Matt) is a major otaku. He loves all things anime and manga, and makes a mean mocha latte. He's also a zombie. In fact, he got shoved down two flights of stairs at an anime convention. When pressed he will tell you he doesn't mind, and thinks of it like a permanent cosplay. After his death he attended the Undead School and applied at the cafe after graduation. He's a jack of all trades, if a bit lazy.
Kuro and Shiro Age: Unknown Kuro appears to be 18, Shiro appears to be 12 Story: Night Chef (Shiro). These two are a mystery. They woke as ghosts together with no memory of life in the middle of Japan somewhere between 900 to 1000 years ago. They named themselves (it was mostly Kuro's idea) after the shades of their hair. They have since traveled the world and learned 10 different languages between them. Their age gives them an advantage over other undead, but they only use it if absolutely necessary. They are complete opposites. Kuro is over dramatic and talks unceasingly, but also loyal and kind. Shiro is (pardon the pun) deathly quiet and occasionally ruthless, but also wise and unshakable. Kuro conned Shiro into applying at Grimoire, saying that she had the best cooking in the world and of course she should work there. Kuro is a part time assistant chef/cashier only by virtue of being there so much.
Chewy Age: 19 Story: Chewy is a zombie. He died nearly ten years ago. He looks 19, but is actually 30 years old. He didn't until just four years ago. He's a newer employee but works part time night cashier. He loves music, books, and rollerblading. He's worked in the cafe for two years now. Playful, picky, flirtatious, and adventurous. He's gone to a few conventions with Matthew and can help out in the kitchen with Shiro from time to time.

Sleeping. It was pretty useless for a dead person. However it was more of a nostalgic feeling then anything else. Sometimes Chewy wondered if he was actually having dreams, or if they were memories? He had woken up years after he'd died. He hadn't really remembered anything and his gravestone had been crushed to pieces. So he just wandered around for a bit.
Waking up and staring at the ceiling he sighed heavily. He'd stop in at the slow period, right between the day shift and the night shift. The cafe was a comfortable little spot with a nice atmosphere and classic layout. Chewy went there whenever he woke up and got himself breakfast before he'd have to work. He liked to do whenever he had to work.
Chewy was only a part timer at the Grimoire Café. He normally just worked register, but he could help out in the kitchen when he needed to. Sometimes he could switch with Kuro...or rather lure Kuro out to the front and then go work the blender so that no one had to worry about the adorable ghost doing something completely stupid.
By the time he got to the cafe, he'd have about fifteen minutes to eat and then get to work. That seemed nice enough.

SxHxIxRxOKuro ni In black Shiro ni In white Somaru We are dyed CHESS ni On the chessboard Saa CHECKMATE wo Now, get a checkmate The atmosphere was quiet and calm with the smell of fresh baked goods drifting lazily towards the street. Shiro had a rare moment mostly alone as she stocked the display case. David and Linda had left early to attend a play at their niece Tomoe's school. Matt was putting the linen delivery away and who knew what Kuro was up to. Shiro had half a mind to find out, if only to put her paranoia to rest. The room was almost too quiet. She expected to hear Kuro's voice echoing and be suddenly swept up in the baka's grasp.
And so it was that when the door chime sounded Shiro nearly sent out pulse of energy. The ghost equivalent of squeaking in fright. Luckily, she caught it in time that only the slight movement of her white ponytails betrayed her. She leaned over slightly to see who had come in and saw that it was only Chewy. Face palming briefly she finished putting away the batch of muffins and walked around the counter.
Shiro waved at Chewy, her face back to its normal neutral expression. It wasn't unusual for the zombie to show up early to catch something to eat before his shift, so Shiro tilted her head and simply asked, "Hungry?" She waited to see if the zombie wanted to fix it himself or if he wanted one of the pre-made sandwiches from the fridge.

KxUxRxOKuro ni In black Shiro ni In white Somaru We are dyed CHESS ni On the chessboard Saa CHECKMATE wo Now, get a checkmate What could keep Kuro away from the cafe? Away from his darling, precious, perfect Nee_san? Easy. Matt_kun. Kuro had wanted to go look at some of the cosplay that Matt had made. So he was over at the storage area going through the random costumes and outfits. He wanted to wear something special for today. It wasn't that there was something going on. It wasn't a special day. It was just the way the Kuro was.
He picked out something more simplistic this time. He could have cross-played but instead he chose what looked like a butler outfit. It had a label on it that said Kuroshitsuji. He thought that it sounded fun. After all his name was Kuro and ...Black Butler. Sounded perfect! Putting it on he dusted it off a bit and then fussed with his hair for a little bit. Trying to get it to behave. However it never worked.
He teleported to the street the Grimoire Cafe was on and then walked the rest of the way. Some girls stopped to talk to him and he made sure to mention where he worked. After all that's basically what he was there for. To bring customers off the street and into the cafe. Sometimes they had some part timers that didn't actually -work- for them that would sit around and look pretty. So Kuro did the leg work. He stopped in a few places, like the flower shop and the candy store to talk to the pretty boys and girls there. They liked to flirt with him and were regulars at the cafe because of it. He'd be out for a little bit longer yet. Though he kept his eyes out for others he knew, so he could say hi.

Chewy was met by the soft subtle voice of the adorable little twelve year old girl named Shiro. She was actually thousands of years old and one of the scariest people he had ever met, as well as one of the best cooks. Chewy loved her cooking even in his deathly state.
Nodding his head lightly he gave her his signature smile. It was bright, childish, and slightly adorable. "You know it. I just woke up from my normal napping ways. I'm actually pretty starving today. Would you be willing to teach me how to make one of your awesome sandwiches?" He asked sweetly and leaned down to be at her eye level. Chewy was a gentleman by nature, a flirt by fate, and a sweet heart by choice.
He'd known Shiro pretty much since he woke up and was just as fond of her as he was fond of her brother Kuro. Which it was fair to say he was a little more then fair about that sexy ghost boy. He liked him, but also understood that the black haired boy was somewhat single minded towards his sister. Even though the pair wasn't actually related as far as anyone knew. Shiro was as precious as a million year old fossil to the Smithsonian museum to him.

A girl walked in the door. She wore a tight dark purple shirt with a broken heart down on one side, tight black jeans and black boots.
She looked weary as she made her way to a table calling out "Food" on the way past the counter. There was an odd appearance about her, almost as if the shadows followed her movements. But that couldn't be right.
Her head hit the table hard as she sat down. She needed to think, not her best suit. The last thing she remembered was getting in a van with a bunch of good looking people and partying for three or four days. The lightweights. Where was she? This place seemed nice, not that she knew what it was, or what city it was in, or what plane for that matter. Stupid bar popping her out of random doors.
Oh well. She might as well enjoy herself. The bar would snatch her up eventually. Usually when she least expected it and always playing It's the End of the World as We Know It (And I Feel Fine). As if that had been her fault. She tried telling them the dragon wasn't liking the spell.
Now where was that food?

Jules HorenjouA small group from Undead High, had decided to get together for some food at the local cafe. Since it was going into the undead hours they could easily get in the Grimoire without any trouble. So Jules had gone into the school lounge and grabbed at least a few other friends. Including of course Read and anyone the older zombie had in his company. Though that had taken longer then he'd thought it would. Apparently they'd had to convince one of the new boys to even step foot off the school grounds. Jules didn't understand, but whatever. Jules came sweeping into the cafe ahead of the group and cupped his hands around his mouth. "Party in the CAFE!!!" Anyone who worked at the cafe knew that meant three things. Jules. Patricia. Read. Three awesome crusaders of after death enjoyment. Knowing his friends were a little ways behind him he autopiloted to the sitting area through the door closest to the entrance. He saw the workers and an almost bare scene before him. Though there was one pretty little black lily sitting alone at a table. He let out a low whistle and jumped over a table to look at her. "You look down right tuckered out babe! That just wont do with a party coming in."

Patty was so excited when Jules came bursting into the lounge that she had to be careful not to jump up and down too much. It really just knocked her bad eye loose and made her fall to pieces. Talk about losing your head! And in front of Floanne too! But he'd get over it eventually, right?
Patty was twirling and skipping as they walked. However before they even got to the cafe she spotted a familiar face and had to dart off. "I'll meet you there!" She almost screeched with joy before tearing after a certain dark colored butler looking man. She then proceeded to glomp the poor thing with an excited squee! "Oh My Grell on French Toast! You look just like Sebby, Kuro!" Patty was a huge otaku and in her sweet loli it was quite the sight to see her clinging to the young man. She nuzzled up against him and giggled gleefully. Of course to any poor bystanders they would see a zombie glomping someone who seemed to be a perfectly normal cosplayer. But, Patty knew Kuro. She'd gone to the cafe quite a few times and met him and Matt. She knew Matt from conventions originally. [[ooc:Ooo~ This is gonna be so much fun! ]]

Even if that party was a late raid to a new place. He'd heard Colette talk about the cafe and he'd heard Jules and Patty go on about it, but he had yet to go there. Of course it was also Floanne's first time. So Read thought it only right to right the horrible wrong that had been committed. There was an awesome place that didn't have enough Read in it. Plus, maybe he'd look into getting a job and showing off his sexy muscles in some hot outfit to bring in some more customers.
With a rather squirmy and paranoid human thrown over his shoulder and a nice view of his a**, Read walked through the city towards the cafe. No one really looked at him strange. With the way that Floanne was cussing and muttering he seemed like some narcotic undead. Read just grinned and kept walking, he had too much fun tormenting the boy. But it was all in good fun and good health. After all it couldn't be healthy to stay on school grounds forever, right?
"Ya know hot stuff, you should really try to simmer down." Read offered to the human just before Jules shot off, followed shortly by Patty. It brought a smile to his lips and a pep to his step. Damn tonight was gonna be a blazer. [if only he could still get drunk] ((ooc: ))

Flaonne ☂ Fionghualla "When it rains misfortune,It pours." Sometimes I feel I've got to Run away I've got to Get away From the pain that you drive in the heart of me The love we share Seems to go nowhere I've lost my lights I toss and turn I can't sleep at night.
Now I know I've got to Run away I've got to Get away You don't really want any more from me To make things right You need someone to hold you tight You think love is to pray But I'm sorry I don't pray that wayT A I N T E D xxx L O V E Angry squirrel didn't even begin to describe Flaonne's emotional state. Not only had he had a panic attack from watching Patty practically fall apart, but they had the nerve to force him off of school property. They said he was being silly. That there was nothing to be scared of! What did they know? The school had rules against eating humans, but off the grounds there were no rules! What if he got eaten! He was still alive damnit! But no, he was being silly! So that neanderthal of an idiot picked him up and carried him off.
It really wasn't fair that zombies didn't feel pain. Or that a zombie could retain it's muscle and strength. That just didn't seem right. Though Flaonne was more disturbed by the distinct smell of rotting flesh that hung ever so much on the man carrying him. Read had assured him that he wouldn't get sick just from being near zombies. However this is the same man that told him about zombie spiders and cockroaches...He would never be able to put his shoes on the same way again.
Flaonne couldn't stand to actually see all the zombies on the streets and the ghosts. It had nearly terrified him the first time. Now he was a little more used to the undead, but this was still too much.He was so engulfed in his fear and anxiety he didn't even notice the group splitting up mostly. He did however notice when Read switched his hold on him and suddenly carried him bridal style into a door of an establishment. It smelled like coffee!
Flaonne struggled to get free of the ape, but was soon to realize that it was useless. He was trapped and it wouldn't be changing anytime soon. "You can put me down now..." His voice cracked and his shaking form betrayed his confident words. A BIG Mistake

KxUxRxOKuro ni In black Shiro ni In white Somaru We are dyed CHESS ni On the chessboard Saa CHECKMATE wo Now, get a checkmate Kuro was only a few blocks away from the cafe now. He was considering just teleporting back to his dearest Nee_sama, when a very odd occurrence came about. There was a gleeful shout and then a very large weight. He noticed then that it was just Patty squirming and smothering him. That was pleasantly unexpected!
She apparently knew where his costume was from and liked it very much. That was always an excellent thing. So he returned her affection with a hug and picked her up off the ground. He spun with her in the air before holding her in his arms. "Patty! I haven't seen you in a while! I missed you! Are you going to the cafe?" He rambled for a moment and then set her on the ground on her feet. She was such a precious creature and for a zombie she looked pretty damn good. Plus Kuro always noticed she kinda resembled an older version of Shiro.
Kuro looked over at the direction in which his -attacker- had come. Just in time to see a group entering the cafe. He could deduce that it was the group Patty was with. After all Party Patty rarely ever traveled alone.
