Welcome to the first Fancy-Formal Friday Update! aka FFFU!
First things first:
A big THANK YOU for participating in the polls! They have now closed and we are on our way to starting the Halloween event which I will be hosting. Our second-in-command, eran no shi, suggested that the ones with experience in host clubs take the hosting for the first few, so people can learn the way of the trade! Sorry if I crushed some dreams. :/
BUT HAVE NO FEAR. We have decided that we will not only have one main event host, but two. One will be the main event host, and one will be the secondary, just like in rooms, committees and like we did it last year.
Please check the Events Signup thread to see the events that already have the hosts. If you don't want to, it's really just the first three, with me, Epcot Illuminations and eran no shi in chronological order.
Okay, that was long. And boring. Secondly:
As for the poll results, they have been locked so no further votes can come in. There are 16 votes each, so I would assume everyone that voted in one voted for the other. Thank you again!
The results for the Dates poll is Monthly at 25% [ 4 ] Holidays at 18% [ 3 ] Bimonthly at 50% [ 8 ] Other at 6% [ 1 ]
And Bimonthly has the majority! That will be our decision.
The months that the host clubs will be put on are as the following: Halloween (October) Christmas/Winter (December) Valentine's (February) ??? (April) [up to the host] Summer/??? (June) [up to the host]
As you can see, we followed some major holidays.
And for the second vote, we have a slight problem. We might not go with the poll decision. The results are as follows: Permanent characters at 18% [ 3 ] Changing characters at 75% [ 12 ] Other at 6% [ 1 ]
However, Jeffrey M. Roth has come up with a idea I feel I should share with you: Permanent changing characters.
How does that work, you ask? Well, it's like a versatile OC, fitting into any role, but keeping the same personality. It's like the same person turning into multiple people. It'll be kind of like permanent characters, except more versatile.
Read what was written below:
Quote: I would be comfortable with both options - But I guess my next suggestion would be filed under 'other'.
I tend to make one OC who I can change to fit many different roles - The design and personality remain the same but they can be changed in minor ways to fit into any enviornment. Take my OC Jeff - whom my normal avatar is based off of - he actually started out as a Team Fortress 2 rp account... But he's been a wizard, a postman, a delivery guy, and countless amounts of other roles. He's still Jeff, but he's a versatile character. ^ ^-
I think that a permanent character would be lovely, giving us time to flesh them out to our liking and putting them in different scenarios in order to have them down pat by the next ball! Others would probably like a different route - but this is just my opinion. :3
I think that once we get the general theme for the ball nailed down and the lines laid in place I will likely create a permanent OC specifically for the theme of the ball. emotion_yatta Now what do you guys think? Should we go with that idea, or keep to our old idea? Instead of a poll, I would like you guys to reply to this thread with a simple 'yay' or 'nay'. Yay would be agreeing with it, and Nay would be not. Feel free to write as much as you want telling us why you chose that option. Or simply put 'yay' or 'nay'. Anything is fine! ^^ I'll keep the option open until the weekend is over. Then, based on the response we got from this thread, we will either go with that, or stick with the poll winner (changing characters).
And yet even more: As a recap, Epcot Illuminations is the official Master of Ceremonies (MC). Meaning he will get an equal voice as Eran and I to make decisions. If you didn't know, he has CRAAAZZY experience. o:
So yeah. That's it. Thank for reading this big wall of text. It's actually 784 words long. WOW. That's a typical literate+ RP post. Okay. Thank you for reading! That's basically all that has been done the past week and a bit. In case I forget anything (which I hope I haven't), I'll be keeping you guys updated in random threads. I just thought this was easier. And, just one more reminder, the event host sign-up is open! The Halloween event's plannign thread shall start soon!

Any time will do, my love...
I absolutely love Jeffery's idea!
(sorry it's not much, I need to go to bed soon)
... Any time will do, no choice of words will break me from this rule.

So I have a couple of questions:
1. So the idea would be to have 1 main character but simply have them change jobs, clothes, etc to match the environment they're in? But they keep their name, hair, eye, and skin color the same every time though?
2. Are there co-hosts for any of the events coming up? For those people who don't want to responsibility of running a room but just want to get some experience and learn what its like incase they ever want to become a host?
Found my answer ^ ^;

Found my answer ^ ^; Yes. Their name, etc, and personality. The big thing is personality, so you can practice playing the "same" character, while still fitting in with the theme. But yes, that's pretty much right! ^^
Hehe, thanks (to both of you!) for reading through that wall of text! ^^;;

I say yay! I tend to do that myself as well. Normally I prefer to use my kitsune OC (based off my avatar of course) but I think it will be a pleasant challenge to make a new character specially for my activities related to Host Club goins on.

Hmmm..I am not sure on the idea yet. I'm worried about getting bored with my character or not being able to come up with one that could work for being reused over and over. I've never done anything like that before really, except once so I dont have much experience with it.
You're welcome :3

You're welcome :3 No worries, you're not alone. I tend to create new characters and personalities when I'm RPing. I don't think I've ever reused a character, but there comes to a time when I'm running out of ideas, so now I'm simply pulling personalities together to create a new one! XDD
Of course, the character will be slightly different. They could even change race! (hint: I'm planning on something monster-y for the Halloween event! (; )

I dont like the idea of sticking with one personality. I like to switch it up depending on what my character needs. Dolly and Lola have COMPLETELY different personalities but I like to play them both.

^ ^;; wowIwasn'texpectingtobepartofanoptionhahahaohjeez
Well, I love my idea - mostly because it's easier for me to work how someone would fit into a role. I'd rather not clutter myself with one-trick OC's that I will only use once and then throw away. Probably because I am a writer and artist - so I tend to write stories and draw my OC's.
If you are uncomfortable with the idea - that's okay! It's not going to fit everyone's needs, and I am just really glad that my suggestion was good enough to be mentioned to everyone. //pressure pressure!!
The reason I had decided this was a good choice for me (personally) is because artistically it makes sense. You write and draw outside your comfort zones to improve your performance overall! This is typically a good exercise to try and get your character building skills working.
Also it saves on artwork. If your character has the same personality and slightly different looks (or the same looks in my case) it's much easier to draw them.
Just my 2cents on the matter! Also I vote 'yay' I guess.

We could do use the idea for those who want to use it, but for those who like completely changing characters, they can do that as well. Since it could still work.

Yeah, I don't see why we can't do that as the characters could still interact. but I don't like recycling my characters with them changing scenery andstuff like that.

♥ i do like jeffrey's idea! i get really attached to my ocs (they're my babies what) so the idea of keeping one character that's a bit versatile for all the events is pretty cool. but i do also agree with what rogue_logan too- sometimes you do feel like playing completely opposite roles. so therefore i think people should be able to pick. it just seems to me that some people like to switch it up and some people like things to stay the same. if we let people pick, everyone's happy.

I dunno... I really always change my characters in almost every way. Except the hair! I almost always use the same hair style but in different colors. Its been green, blonde, blue (actually it still is blue cause I'm using cuter hair anyways) and at one point it might have been purple but I don't think so. Either way, I like playing different characters. This being only my second year, I'm still trying to show off my ability to fit into lots of characters and styles. 4laugh
