Ah, old books, Sky inhaled happily, tracing her fingers along the spines of the library books. This was the one thing she missed about being at Hogwarts--the old, yellow paged books. Even though her father had his own extensive book wing of their mansion, most of the books smelled new... i.e., they didn't smell at all! Wow, who could've imagined me saying something old is better... Minus cameos and lace, of course, Sky thought, pausing at one of the books as she smiled to herself.

Time felt like it was flying by--first year was amazing, minus being hit by that blubbering imbecile though. Sky definitely could've done without that... From what she heard, his injuries were nothing Doctor Belov couldn't fix up. Her arm was healed up in a flash too, as soon as Doctor Belov came back to the infirmary, he waved his wand once and she was fixed. And if I wasn't a wizard, this would've taken weeks to heal... and a splint would be such a hassle getting into some of my dresses... Muggle-born or not, she was still ecstatic to be a wizard.

Summer went by pretty fast--though with Feng's hateful mutterings, it was hard to just... Be a family, she supposed? She really did miss her parents--being at Hogwarts was in every aspect a boarding school. Though she used owls to send letters to them almost weekly, she still felt lonely. Heck, she even started to miss her bratty little brother--though, of course, by the time she got home and witness him first hand, that feeling was over.

"Oh, shoot." Sky blinked, noticing just then that she knocked over some papers while she was lost in thought. She knelt down, pushing her hair behind her ear, and quickly attempted to retrieve most of the papers. They were pretty spread out, however. Great, she thought, sighing a bit as another strand of her hair fell into her face. I would be this clumsy...

Lothar didn't want to admit it, but he had missed Hogwart's over the summer. Most of his summer had been spent working on his fencing skills, horse back riding with his father; when he hadn't been working, and teasing his cousin Louvenia when he got the chance. It had been a rather dull summer, which had annoyed him greatly.

He had thought that his father would have taken them on a few trips in London and a few other places where his business took him. Apparently he was just too busy to do that, so Lothar and Louvenia had been left to their own devices under the watchful supervision of his father's butler Foote. Foote had been working for his father at his German estate for over twenty years, and before him, for his Great Uncle. Despite his dour and sour view of the world, he was a rather good partner for fencing. Other than that all he did was make sure the two of them had what they needed but not the fun that they had craved.

At least now that he was back at Hogwarts he would have more people to entertain him. Perhaps this year he would find people worthy of calling friends. He had rather missed Vonali and was a bit perturbed that he hadn't been able to get permission for her to come stay with them over the summer. And of course there was Sky, he wondered if she had missed him at all.

Lothar had decided, that since it was the first day back with a full day's schedule of classes that he should delve into the assignments and get them completed. Then he could go and find Sky or Von and see if they wanted to do something. He had laid out his papers and books on a table and gone to find a book the professor had told them would help with their assignment.

He was a bit miffed to find that some other kid had gotten to it first and it had taken him about five minutes to wheedle it out of the other kid, reasoning with the hufflepuff that if he could read it first he'd have it memorized and wouldn't need it again. He had also given the other kid a gold coin in exchange, not that he was about to tell anyone that he had done that. He was a bit startled to come back and find his papers fluttering all over the room with Sky trying to gather them up as quickly as she could.

Lothar cocked his head to the side and watched with a small smile playing at the corner of his mouth. "Ahem, what happened here?" He asked loudly clearing his throat as one of his eyebrows went up in a quizzical manner.
"Please tell me you're not the clumsy sort Sky," he found himself teasing in a gentle manner.

Sky nearly jumped when she heard Lothar's voice. Of all people! She shook her head--of course, it would be him, right? Just who she didn't care to see. "Not particularly clumsy, though apparently very vengeful," Sky retorted, picking up the remainder of the pieces of paper before standing up and handing them to Lothar. Before he could get a hold of them though, she let one of the papers fall to the ground. "Oops." She said dryly, obviously having dropped it on purpose. "I guess you should probably pick those up, no?" There was a little mischievous twinkle in her eye.

Who am I kidding? She wondered, restraining the urge to sigh. She wasn't angry at Lothar anymore--that flight thing was so long ago and it would just have been exhausting to still be angry of him being a know-it-all. It wasn't his fault that she got injured--though it did sting to remember that he told her to be careful not even moments before... The snot. That was probably the worst part of it--honestly, some divine force HAD TO have been working against her that day! Sky loathed being proven wrong and was, above all, embarrassed by the memory that Lothar reminded her off. The other kid, however... Now, he became the subject of her focus. I can still be angry at that bozo for my broken arm... Sky thought bitterly, nibbling on the side of her lip. That kid--if she ever saw him outside of class... She'd give him a piece of her mind. What an absolute moron!

"How was your summer?" She inquired, placing Lothar's papers back neatly on the desk. Come to think of it... I don't even know anything about Lothar... The thought made her blush a little--why should she even care? Sure, he was cute... But there was something too sly about him. I shouldn't bother caring, she reminded herself vehemently. He'd seen him hanging around with other girls--in fact... Did Lothar even have any boy friends? Sky had been around enough of those smooth boys to know how they worked--whenever her parents had a "friendly" business lunch, Sky and Feng were roped along to play friends with the other kids. Good thing we know how to act, otherwise... Feng and her would have probably ripped off each other's faces. "Do anything notable?"

Lothar was rather amused to see Sky on edge, she obviously was still wary around him. He eyed her as she picked up the rest of the papers and then handed them over to him. He reached for them and wasn't the least bit surprised when she let one drop. She was still mad at him for that off handed comment last year during the flying lesson mishap that had left her with a broken arm for the rest of the semester.

"I see your arm is all better now," he commented as he bent down to retrieve the fallen paper. "I'm glad."

He couldn't help but notice her nibble on her bottom lip. He frowned slightly, she only did that when she was was angry about something or concentrating on something. Surely she wasn't still holding a grudge against him. Well..it had to be a new record.

"Hey now, no mangling your lip." He said gently reaching out and nudging her on the chin. "I thought you were into looking good after all." he teased with a smirk.

Lothar was glad that she placed the rest of the papers on the desk and hadn't thrown them all over the place. He figured it meant she really wasn't that mad at him anymore. Which was quite the relief.

"My summer was rather boring actually. I was hoping my father would take us a few places, but that didn't happen. I got to do a lot of horseback riding, and fencing in. Oh and Lou and I ended up reading nearly 100 books a piece. That's not counting the new books for this semester either. I hope your summer was much more thrilling than mine. Care to share?"

"Lou?" Sky inquired, noticing that Lothar dropped the name as if she were supposed to know who that was. Do I know a Lou...? I don't know a boy named Lou--perhaps he's an upperclassmen? "My summer was fun, my family and I went to one of our vacation homes in Egypt... It was a new experience entirely from before--seeing as I didn't know that magic even existed previously--and who knew the Egyptians were one of the first recorded practitioners? I just assumed that they were advanced for their time," It's a wee bit sad to think that they didn't grow into greatness normally--who knows what magic made easier for them?

And then Lothar said something that caused Sky to frown. You had to bring up the arm, didn't you, Lothar? Sky thought with a frown, nibbling her lip further. "I'm glad~" In her mind, his voice came out all nasily and high. "I'm soooo glad~" Jerk. Honestly, would it have killed him not to mention her arm? He really knows how to make a girl feel stupid, she noted to herself, tapping the desk with her finger as she listened to him.

She wasn't completely aware of his hand coming towards her, otherwise she would've flinched backwards. Sky blinked in surprise as she felt something on her chin and she was even more aghast to see that it was Lothar who nudged her. Ahhhh! What the heck! How embarrassing! Why did he have to go out and touch her so suddenly! Before she could process what she was saying, words jumped out of her mouth, "I don't have excessive vanity like you," she retorted without missing a beat. ... Wow, brain. That wasn't harsh at all...

But of course, she continued down this path anyway, "And honestly! Learn not to just randomly touch people like that!" She protested, "It's alarming, if anything else. You can't expect someone to enjoy it. See, watch!" Sky took her hand and brought it up to Lothar's chin and held it there, "It feels like you're about to get strangled, right?" He's warm, Sky noticed, trying her best to keep her face from showing any embarrassment. Stupid brain, stop noticing extraneous information! "Am I not wrong? It's making you just a bit nervous." She inquired, trying to ignore the fact that her face was a little bit too close to his (too close compared to normal conversation, at least) and the fact that her hand was on his face.

Lothar was surprised he hadn't mentioned his cousin to Sky before. He could have sworn that he had. He turned away to cough into the corner of his arm and then gave her an apologetic smile. "My apologies Sky, I thought I had told you about my cousin Louvenia before. I call her Lou to annoy her." He added with a slight grin.

Lothar was felt a bit jealous and then realized that he had forgotten that his summer hadn't been as boring as he had said. Von had been there as well. How could that have slipped his mind? Probably because he had been so occupied with trying to touch her hair again the entire time she had been there. He couldn't help but grin at that. Von had been a bit annoyed with his antic and had said as much. Feisty girls were so fun to play around with.

Lothar's attention was drawn back to Sky and he could see that something he had said had annoyed her. He could hear her tapping away on the desk. Didn't she know that was a really bothersome habit? He frowned.

Lothar drew his hand back with a frown at her comment. Him? Vain? Yeah right. Sure he liked to look good, but he was nowhere near as obsessive about it like other people were. Like Sky was. "Why thank you for noticing." He replied in a cool tone. "I shall make note of that and try to work on it."

Lothar was a bit taken aback by her fierceness. He hadn't meant to alarm her he had just wanted to make her stop biting on her lip. If this was what one got from trying to be kind perhaps he should just stop being nice to her.

Lothar stilled when she touched his face and couldn't help but notice that her hand was rather cold. She either had poor circulation or just a frigid heart. He figured it was the latter what with the way she was acting.

"Strangled? No not at all. That sensation would come from being held with two hands around the throat." He replied dryly. He drew closer to her and put a hand over the hand that was on his face. "Nervous? Not at all. In fact..I rather like it."
