 Liam was worked his binoculars until he could see the robin so closely that he could practically count all the feathers on it's breast. These binoculars that his brother Challis had given him were amazing! He wondered why his older brother had given them away.
A clap of thunder startled the robin and made it fly away. Liam groaned, Why did it have to start raining now of all days? With a reluctant sigh he put the caps back on the binoculars and let them fall against his chest.
He made his way out of the wooded area around Hogwarts that the students were allowed to explore and started walking towards the castle. It seemed to be raining nearly every day much to his annoyance. At least today he had gotten a few hours of sunlight which had done little to drying up the muddy grounds. He slid and stomped through the sludgy ground trying to take care to not get mud on the top of his hiking boots.
Not that it would bother him, but it was more than likely that a staff member of the school would berate him for trudging mud inside. He sighed and rolled his eyes. It seemed like the staff had nothing better to do than to pick on the students over every little thing they did wrong.
A crack of lightning shot across the sky, and Liam's eyes widened. Man..that had been close. The lightning had very nearly hit the whomping willow! That would not have been good.
He paused to zip up his hooded sweater and noticed a white haired girl trying to make her way through the muddy ground around the lake. He was closer to the building than her, but it looked as though she had gotten her shoes stuck in the mud. He turned towards her and made his way over, going as quickly as he could. He didn't want her to get stuck out here in the middle of a downpour.
"Need a hand there?" He called out as he got closer to her. He was rather surprised to see that it was a girl from his House and he had met her not that long ago. "Hey there Destiny, I see you've gotten stuck. Need a hand?"

Destiny mutters to herself as she stood stuck in the mud "Normally..its nice out here..but no..clouds decided to roll in" she said shaking the rain from her hair. She glanced at Liam "hi..liam" she said not to pleased at the moment. She should have been more prepared for this..but she wasn't smart and she wasn't. She sighs before glancing at her house mate.
"a hand would be nice" she told him with a light smile, before brushing wet hair from her face.Before she held out her hand for him to take. If they worked together they could both get her out of the mud and into the building before she got completely drenched then she was already. She blew out a frustrated breath. "I wish..it would stop raining so much" she told him.

Liam was a bit surprised to see that Destiny already had wet hair. There must have been a micro burst or something before the thunder and lightning had started. Those were so annoying.
Liam could tell that she wasn't happy at all by her situation. Before he took a step closer to her, he eyed the ground before he made his way over. He carefully stepped around the muddier parts until he was about a foot away from her. "Grab on." he said reaching out his arms towards her.
Liam nodded in agreement, "all the rain is annoying. Come on, let's get out of here before it starts raining on us."

"normally, I would be okay with a minor down pour but not this intense" she told him before grabbing onto his arms. She tilted her head to the side "are you sure, you can do this by yourself?" she asked him, worried he might get stuck himself.
She flinched a little as lighting and thunder sounded, talk about her first rain storm at Hogwarts school. She glanced around hoping they could get out of it soon,she was bound to catch a cold now.
Destiny nodded her head agreeing with him "I agree..the longer we stay out here the more likely chance we will get sick" she told him, then again that didn't really make the situation any better then it already was. Though at the same time she was grateful she ran into Liam or the likely chance of no one helping her was pretty high.

Liam couldn't help but laugh at her comment. "You think this is intense? You should try living the Tropics..they get monsoons. Those are ten times worse." He said shaking his head at her. Girls didn't really think very much before they spoke did they?
He waited until she had clasped her small slightly cold hands onto his forearms and then he wrapped his hands around her forearms and pulled using all his strength. She came out of the mud with a loud "Pop" sound and he had to catch his balance before her weight threw him back into the mud. He somehow managed to keep the both of them from falling into the puddle behind him.
"I think I've got it." He said looking down at the girl that was now securely wrapped in his arms. He blinked and looked down into her green eyes, no wait they were teal. He hadn't noticed that before. Then again he hadn't been this close to Destiny before.
"Umm.. Sorry." He said, letting her go and blushing fiercely at holding her so long. "While I have the same wish as you I don't think that's going to happen anytime soon." He said and glanced up at the nearly black sky. "We're going to get soaked if we don't hurry for it.
"Would you like to use my hooded sweatshirt so you won't get wetter?" he asked noticing that she didn't have anything to protect her from the oncoming storm. There was no way they'd be getting back to the castle without getting drenched. The least he could do was try and keep her dryer than him.

Destiny yelped quietly as he pulled out of the mud puddle with a 'pop'. She blinked and glanced up at Liam as he securely held her "thank you" she said blushing lightly.
She blinked surprised that he didn't lose his balance. She had never been this close to Liam before but she was definitely not complaining. He looked more sincere and kind then usual when she saw him at a distance. though she was grateful he was around or she would have been stuck in the rain and drenched and probably gotten a cold.
She nodded her head lightly at his offer "that would be nice" she said "I'll wash it and give it back to you when we are back inside and safe from the rain" she told him. She then tilted her head "what about you? you're going to get drenched as well" she put in lightly.

Liam was rather startled by the other's yelp. He looked down at her legs to see if she had hurt herself or something. He really couldn't make anything out through the mud that was covering her stockings and shoes.
"You yelped, did your foot get hurt?" He asked with a slight frown.
Liam pulled off his hooded sweater and wrapped it around Destiny and pulled the hood over her slightly wet hair. He tucked in a stray white curl brushing his finger against her cheek. He pulled back and shoved his hands in his pockets looking down at his feet for a moment.
He was wearing walking boots, while she was wearing school shoes. That was probably why she had sunk so much. He glanced back at her for a moment, an idea suddenly popping into his head.
"That's fine," He said shooting a smile at her. "Oh don't worry about me, it's not like I'll melt." He said brushing some hairs out of his face and then turned around.
"Enough talking," He said finally growing tired of all the chatter. This was more than he normally talked in a week. "Jump on my back, I'll carry you up."

Destiny shook her head "no..no..I'm not hurt" she said before looking down at her shoes, she would have to some how get those cleaned too. She smiled lightly as he wrapped her up in his hooded sweater. It was warm and it would keep her a little dryer then she would be if she ran towards the castle.
She let out a small laugh at his statement about melting from the rain, her cheeks slightly flushed from the cold air that was starting to arise from the black clouds continuing to roll over. "you know..I personally wouldn't want you melt..then I wouldn't get to see you around school at all" she told him in a light whisper.
She nodded her head "okay.." she said lightly before jumping onto his back and lightly rested her chin on his shoulder and wrapping her arms around his neck carefully as to not choke him "Liam...thanks for the help and I would like to talk some more a little later..is that okay?" she asked.

Liam had been glad that she wasn't hurt, but still wondered why she had yelped. Maybe it was just the sensation of being pulled? He shrugged his shoulders.
The smile that she had given him when had wrapped his sweater around her had caused a funny sensation in the pit of his stomach. He knew it wasn't from hunger or nerves..and still couldn't quite place it. It definitely couldn't be the "butterfly" feeling that his sister was always going on about when she fell "madly and deeply in love" with another boy.
He was glad when she accepted his offer without any sort of argument. It had surprised him to discover just how light she was. He had expected her to weigh him down like his sister always did whens he begged a piggy back ride off of him. Carrying Destiny felt like he was carrying a feather pillow. Which was a rather strange sensation.
"You're so light." he marveled and then stilled slightly when she laid her chin on his shoulder. He started walking as fast as he could, knowing that if he kept her out where she could get drenched she'd probably end up getting majorly sick from the exposure. Her being so small and light, she'd probably catch a cold just from getting her hair drenched earlier.
A look of concern stretched across his face, Liam quickened his pace, so he was nearly trotting across the grounds towards the castle. They had made it to the womping willow when he heard her thank him.
"Well," He said gruffly, "That's what we Hufflepuffs are supposed to do. Sure..I guess. Give me some time to recuperate first though." He added, keeping up his fast trot.
They were now about three yards from the Hogwart's side door and the clouds opened up and the rain started coming down in big fat raindrops. Thankfully though it wasn't pouring just yet, just a sprinkling before the main works began. "So close." Liam muttered, and put on a burst of speed.
Right as the rain began to pour down steadily Liam managed to get the both of them to the Hogwart's side door and deposited her under the archway. "Whew, that was close." He muttered and watched the rain fall for a moment before he started untying his laces. "Might want to get your shoes off, the janitor gets livid if kids track in mud." He advised her.

Destiny then went quiet for a bit as he desposited her under the archway, before she shook off the the droplets from the light drizzle, that had started. She took her hands and took off the hood and shook out her hair before rubbing her hands together to warm them up. She lightly sighed that was true..it was what hufflepuffs did. Hiding her frown she nodded her head.
She brushed her hair through her semi-damp hair before liam rescued her, she squatted down and undid her shoes, and took off her stockings as well..since those were covered in mud too. She picked up her shoes and her stockings, "Thanks for the help and advice" she said before she turned to start heading towards the common room.
She paused in mid step and turned to face him "I'll clean up your sweater and I'll give it back to you afterward" she said. She wasn't sure what else to say on that note so she turned back around and started to head down the hallway. The hallways were a little cold..so she was grateful, she had liam's sweater to keep her warm up until they got to the common room and to her dorm where she could change out of her damp clothing and into dry clothing and where she could wrap herself up in a nice blanket, though she was pretty sure she would get the blunt force of staying out in the rain sooner or later.

"Your welcome Destiny." He replied, as he shook out the rain drops that had fallen in his hair. "and that will be fine." He added glancing over at her as she stripped off her stockings.
She had rather attractive ankles, he couldn't help but think. He reddened slightly and looked away. He really shouldn't be thinking such things. He really had no idea where his mind was going lately. He rubbed the back of his neck and glanced down at his mud covered boots. He really needed to figure out a way to clean them before carrying them around the school. If the mud came off inside, the janitor would probably come hunt him down and make him clean it up.
A sudden thought came to him, and he picked up his boots and held out the bottom of them into the down pouring rain. It took seconds for the mud to get washed away. "Hey, give me your shoes for a second." he called to Destiny when she turned back around to talk to him.
It took him moments to clean off her shoes as well.
"And that's fine, get it back whenever you can." He told her with a smile.
He followed after her in sock feet, carrying her and his shoes under his arms. The hallway was rather cool under his socks, and he could only imagine how cold it was on her bare feet. "You sure you don't want to borrow my socks? They're not that dirty."

Destiny padded down the hallways in her bare feet towards the Hufflepuff common room where their dorms were, it seemed a welcoming thought to change out of her wet clothes into dry and comfortable ones, its a good thing she brought blanket from home to school, she knew it would come in handy sooner or later.
She shook her head at his offer "no..that's quite alright..the floor isn't that cold, besides..I'll just end up wrapping them in a blanket or something" she told him as the two headed towards the hufflepuff common room. She would need to somehow clean her stockings and his sweater, she was only 11 she had no idea how to wash clothes. She used a free hand to brush her hair from her face.

Liam knew he shouldn't have offered her his socks. She probably thought he was weird now. "Okay," He said looking down at his feet as they continued to walk towards the Hufflepuff common room.
"That's a good idea. Do you like Hot Chocolate?" he asked remembering he had a stash of it hidden in his trunk.
"Oh don't worry about my sweater, it's not that wet. If we put it near the fireplace, that will warm it up fast enough." He said shooting her a smile.
A few moments later they came around the corner of the kitchen and came to a stop by a pile of barrels. Liam moved forward and tapped the barrel two from the bottom, middle of the second row, in the rhythm of ‘Helga Hufflepuff’.
A moment later the lid swung open exposing a passageway that led into the Hufflepuff common room.
"Here, let me hold that while you go through." Liam said holding his hands out for the sweater she was still hanging onto.
