* PMs and quoting in the main thread are the easiest options for getting ahold of me.
* Feel free to contact me via AIM (peonypaean) for plotting! Just let me know who you are on Gaia. If you're interested in RPing over AIM, I'm up for it; I tend to write shorter/faster replies in IMs. I have the mobile app on my phone, so I'm not always available when I'm online, but I do try my best to respond eventually.
* As a prentice, Shirin is staying close to home and family. Once she becomes a lancer, she'll start to travel beyond the borders of Sauti.

Name: Shirin
Race: pure-blooded Wind Earthling
Gender: female
Base Traits:
- protean - level-headed - meticulous
Class: Prentice
Aspirations: dual-range attack (lance): Prentice -> Lancer -> Spearman -> Melee Hunter

In contrast to her domineering parents and opinionated siblings, Shirin has always had an accomodating nature. Eager to please, she is versatile enough to adjust her manner on the fly. The often conflicting expectations of those around her have caused her develop into a social chameleon. She becomes who she needs to be to hold her own with (though not against) the current situation, whether that means being meek or assertive, quiet or rowdy. Her frequent switches between personas make it difficult even for close kin to predict her next move.
At heart, even Shirin herself isn't sure who she is, much less who she wants to be. Until she figures out, she keeps reinventing herself from moment to moment, trying to find out what fits and what doesn't. Her nomadic lifestyle and the different personalities she meets along the way enable her to do just that.
Shirin takes her responsibilities seriously. Personality conflicts aside, the welfare of her family and her tribe matter deeply to her. What is worth doing is worth doing well, Shirin believes. She lives out that belief in her careful attention to detail and in her level-headed approach to the problems and obstacles that face her from day to day.
This Wind girl is easy to overlook, preferring to blend right into the background where she can. Though she tends to go along with what her bossier siblings want to avoid the inevitable argument, she never liked having their demands forced on her, and she tries not to inflict her own opinions on others. While she's not entirely above trying to direct the course of opinions or events by persuasion and other subtle verbal nudges, she avoids giving orders and taking leadership positions.

From the species info thread:
"The people of the Wind Tribe most clearly resemble the humans of the 21st century. Of course, the inhabitants of Tendaji are unaware of this fact. They are a nomadic people and can often be seen laden with bags and satchels of various shapes and sizes. Sauti is a perilous land, incapable of supporting life in one single area for an extended period of time, so the wandering members of the Wind Tribe carry everything they need with them at all times.
There are a few, sparse places throughout Sauti that can sustain life. In these areas, members of the Wind Tribe also live, maxing out the sustainability of the spot and making it impossible for newcomers to move in.
These Earthlings possesses fair skin. Their hair and eyes are both often light in color. To the other tribes, whose coloration is so unique and bold, they may appear somewhat lacking in color, even washed out. Their ears are short and rounded, making them not quite as adept at picking up sounds as the other tribes, but that skill is less necessary in Sauti, where the mountains provide an astounding echo. Like the other Earthlings, the Wind Tribe sports crystal formations on their bodies. Their crystals are pink in hue and appear most predominantly along their arms and shoulders.
Religion: The Wind Tribe worships Bergchi, most commonly referred to simply as "Chi," the often icy goddess of the mountains. They believe her to be their originator and mother, but not necessarily the highest power in the world. They believe that all people return to her in death and when speaking of those who have passed, will often mention the goddess as well, saying "Bergchi be with them," "Bergchi guide them," or some other variant. They also believe in Ault, the sun god (see "Bringer of Fire"), although he is not their primary deity. The Wind Tribe also believes in the existence of lesser gods (i.e. of rain, of tides, of forests, etc.), but the names of these lesser deities vary and are often quite personal to individuals. The earthlings recognize that others may call these same deities by different names, and accept them as the same gods with different tiles.
Government: The Wind Tribe of Sauti and the Ice Tribe of Zena share a council-style government. Both tribes have a varying number of council members; however many each group deems worthy of the position. All members of the council sit in on meetings and vote on any matters that come up. The Ice Tribe, however, has a heavier hand, and their decisions are weighed more heavily than those of the Wind Tribe. The nomadic Wind Tribe, however, doesn't seem too discouraged by the arrangement."
Details about the nomadic group that Shirin and her family travels with will also appear here at some future date.
