How to Play

Directions:
When sign ups open post once saying you want to play.
If you are playing as a proxy indicate this and the person you are playing for.
When the game starts I will post a question with three options.
Pick the option you like best and post the letter. (You may do a short RP response if you want to.)
You have 5 minutes to post your decision before I post the next question.
At the end of the game prizes will be given out.

Rules:

The Story

You are a soquili and today you have found yourself embarking on a little adventure. You heard about a little island from the friend of a friend and decided that it was the perfect time to go and check it out. You went to a beach and boarded a raft put together by the humans and after speaking to the kelpi in charge you found yourself being pulled off to this highly recommended destination.

You step off of the raft and onto the beach and find that there’s a lot to be seen. On the beach some humans have set up a woven mat with refreshments for humans and soquili alike next to them a mixed group is playing some sort of rhythm game with a ball. The game looks like fun and seems to be for some sort of tiki-totem prize. Off to the side you notice a sand-colored hummingbird flitting about by some bushes.

You decide to go check out the little hummingbird, it looks like the game is well underway anyway.

You approach the little hummingbird wearing your friendliest face when it suddenly flies straight at you. It circles you three times chattering quickly and quietly to itself before flying back in front of your face to hover there. You stare at each other for a minute before it starts speaking again however it is talking to quickly for you to catch anything. In fact, you aren’t even sure if it’s speaking to you at all.

You decide to shout “I don’t know what you’re saying!” at the bird in attempt to silence it so you can get a word in.

The hummingbird shrieks and flies off into a bush. You follow the little bird and watch as it slowly emerges breathing heavily. You apologize for startling it but explain that you couldn’t understand what it was saying. It glares at you before taking up a perch on your nose purposefully tickling you with its tail feathers for revenge. From there it informs you that there is something wrong with the “fire mountain” and that they are looking for people to help them fix it. You’re about to ask what could possibly be wrong with a mountain when you feel the earth shudder beneath your hooves. You swallow and give the bird a grim look. The hummingbird looks at you sympathetically and tells you that you can find his friend somewhere down the trail. “If you want to help go and tell my buddy.”

You go look for the friend by the bushes.

You decide to go investigate some bushes to try and find the hummingbird’s friend. As you’re peering into the branches a tiny voice by your ear asks what you are looking for. You turn and find a bright and little bird with an unusually long tail flitting about. “I was looking for the friend of this hummingbird I just ran into.” You reply wondering if perhaps this was the birds friend. It smiles with its eyes. “So you’re looking to help are you? That’s good. We need the help.” The fluffy bird launches itself into a brief explanation of a mare collecting people for a little ceremony at the top of the mountain. “You should head up that way and introduce yourself to her.” It concludes with a nod.

“Is that it?” You ask.

The little bird considers for a moment before fluttering about excitedly. “There’s a trap!” It cries suddenly. “Just up ahead! I’m supposed to warn people about that too. Just stick to the side and you’ll be fine.” You feel the blood drain from your face. That seemed like pretty critical information to have left out originally.

You decide to walk along the right side of the path.

You make your way past the pitfall without incident and make your way along the path that leads slowly up the mountain. Every now and then the ground shudders and you pick up your pace. You need to find that mare that’s collecting helpers. After a long while you discover that you’ve reached a fork in the road. One path appears to be heading further up the mountain and you can hear something moving just out of sight. The other path appears to be heading back down. You can’t hear anything but it looks as though others have passed down this way. The mountain shakes under hoof once again, you need to pick your path and quickly.

You take the path heading down and find that just out of sight it heads back up the mountain in a series of switchbacks. You continue along wondering if you’re even going the right way when you reach another fork in the road and see a pair of usdia heading one way each carrying a small basket.

You take the path heading away from the minis and at the end you discover a small cave. In the cave you find a blue wind mare bustling about putting things into baskets. She doesn’t take notice of you until you clear your throat. She looks up, startled, and drops the sprig of sage she had been holding on the ground. “Oh, are you here to help?” She asks as she retrieves the sage and puts it into the basket. You nod your head slowly wondering what she is doing. “Good, good. Very good. Is anyone else coming?” You hadn’t seen anyone else behind you the entire way so you give your head a shake. “Oh...well then take a basket and come with me. We have to get to the fire before it’s too late.”

You take a basket and follow along quickly and quietly.

The mare speaks as the two of you walk explaining what is going on. She tells you that the volcano is looking like it’s going to erupt and destroy everything in its path. You stare at her but she tells you not to worry because there is an angeni that keeps the volcano calm. She informs you that she has been organizing an effort to get the angeni’s attention and remind her of her duties. To do this she has collected a group of dancers and a group of chanters (with some difficulty) to perform an ancient ritual. She smiles and mentions that the herbs were her own touch figuring that the scent would be equally as likely to catch someone’s attention.

At the summit you find a group of soquili feeding bundles of herbs into the fire. Next to them a handful of humans chant in rhythm to a steady drum beat. The wind mare rushes about from place to place checking on everything and everyone before returning to you. “Take that basket over to the fire. We’re ready to begin.” As you walk your basket over to the side of the bonfire she nods a few soquili over to her. As they begin to dance you realize the ceremony has begun. Since you’re already there you decide to help out.

The dance is more of walking in circles occasionally switching directions, you decide to do that.

You dance with the other soquili and find yourself growing accustomed to the pattern quite quickly. It feels like you’ve been dancing for hours and still there is no sign of the angeni even though the ground still shakes. You glance at the fire and notice that the soquili gathered there have run out of herbs to burn. Now they are watching the dancers or chanters quietly.

You continue dancing when someone starts shrieking. As others join in the dancers all come to the stop and you’re able to look for the source of the commotion. Soaring your way is a warmly colored mare with sun ornaments adorning her. She lands and tucks her wings and introduces herself as an emissary of the angeni. She looks around the group before making her way over to the dancers.

Immediately you ask if the angeni is going to help.

The emissary turns to you and smiles saying, “Yes, yes, please calm down.” She takes a breath and looks around the area examining the ceremony. “You didn’t need to organize all of this you silly thing. There was never any danger here.” It takes you a moment to understand why she’s talking to you; she thinks you’re the one in charge.

“Actually, I’m a volunteer. This mare is in charge.” You explain nodding to the leader of the effort.

The emissary blinks and flushes from her mistake. “Oh, I’m so sorry about that. I just assumed…well anyway, did you say you volunteered?” She purses her lips in thought. “One of the island visitors?” You nod your head and she grins. “Wait here, I’m going to go speak to your leader and then…I’d really like for you to show me around your homeland!” You agree and she hurries off to speak to the blue wind with a little skip in her step.
