Xaphan sat on a jagged outcrop of rocks, some miles out into the Pacific Ocean. It was particular stormy that day, but he seemed not to notice the weather. He wore no clothing, but he did not shiver when the moody waves crashed against the rocks and spilled over, soaking his skin and wings. He looked like something out of a painting; smooth, clear skin, locks of golden hair, perfectly angular features. His wings, however, failed to complete the image. They were ravaged and ungroomed, the pure white feathers matted and muddied. At the moment, it hardly looked like the wings of an angel.
There was a brilliant flash behind him, a colorless light that slowly melted into soft golden rays. Xaphan turned. To a human's eyes, he would've merely looked like a bright spot, like a piece of the sun that came to rest just atop the ocean waves, with the faintest outline of a man's body inside. Xaphan, though, saw him clearly, a tall, broad-shouldered man with long golden hair and completely white irises. Xaphan grinned a toothy grin at the angel.
"Raguel," Xaphan said, his voice hoarse. "It's been awhile since I saw you. How many millenia has it been? Five? Fifteen?"
Raguel didn't necessarily speak. His voice was more like a melody, echoing in Xaphan's mind, a cluster of pure, ringing notes. "I see you have learned the mortals' language."
"It's a bit hard to avoid, when you've been forbidden from speaking the language of the Angels."
"Do not be silly. You have not been forbidden; you have simply refused to speak it."
Xaphan sighed, mussing his hair. "So? Why have you come?"
"One is not allowed to visit an old friend?"
"Not since the last time I saw them was when I was cast out of Heaven. And we were never friends."
Raguel sighed, and it was like a gust of pure air gently blowing over the tops of the waves. "I have come to give you an offer. You are aware of Lucifer's most recent doings in the mortal cities?"
"I think so. It's pretty hard to miss. His antics stick out like a pink blimp in the sky."
"They are not just antics anymore. They have become something far greater, far worse. We need all the help we can get right now, and He has chosen you to be a part of his newest plan. If you accept, your previous actions will be forgiven, and you may be a part of Us once again."
Xaphan scowled. "I was cast out once long ago. What convinced the big guy to have me back? What makes him think it's better to have me back?"
Again, Raguel sighed. "This is a second chance, Xaphan, to-"
"Don't," Xaphan hissed, his voice wavering. "call me that. You took it away from me when you cast me out."
"But you can get it back. You can get a second chance to redeem yourself. It will be a new beginning. You can start over. You can come back."
Xaphan hesitated. For a long moment, he didn't reply. Then, "Fine. I'm sick of this barren rock of a planet. Anywhere is better than here." Slowly, he stood and looked over his shoulder. The ocean breeze ruffled his feathers, and slowly, he spread his wings to their full length, imagining their original beauty, the feeling of power and confidence as he soared through the sky. Yes, he missed that feeling. Xaphan looked to Raguel and took a deep breath.
"Tell me more about this plan of His."

Plot
It's the prime of the 21st century. Everything is in action and going at full speed; advances in technology and agriculture are being made, films and music of entertainment genius are being released ... and demon activity has increased as well. Thanks to the efforts of God's angels, the humans remain oblivious to the truth - that they are not the only sentient beings on the planet, that they share the Earth with faeries and trolls, werewolves and vampires, angels and demons. Lately, Lucifer and the demons have gotten restless. They yearn to wreak havoc and destruction among the Earth. At first, their attempts were little, causing chaos here and there. Soon, however, they began recruiting traitorous faeries and werewolves into their ranks, and they began to aim for higher, more dangerous goals.
In reply, He chose to assemble a team made of talented, special people, whose sole purpose was to counter Lucifer's attempts. The team was made up of one fae, one shape-changer, one vampire, and one fallen angel. They were enough . . . for the first few decades, but Lucifer's army was ever increasing, and recently, the task has gotten to be too much for just four people to handle.
He then made the decision to expand the team, to trust humans with the great duty of protecting the world. He has chosen two special young people as the newest protectors, and granted them a special power as their weapon. Just another normal crime-fighting team, they might be called, but they will soon prove that they are anything but.

It's disheartening when a roleplay dies, really. Don't ditch the roleplay. Just don't.

Since this is a literate roleplay guild, I don't expect anyone here to abuse their character's powers. I won't stress this rule too much, but I do want people to be aware when they're about to cross the line.
✯ Be creative!
My idea of roleplaying is that everybody contributes to the story. So I would prefer it if you refrain from a simple response post. Please respond to the previous posts, and contribute something of your own. Also, I don't have much of a storyline at the moment, so if you have an idea for the roleplay that you think is absolute genius, SHARE, either on the ooc thread or in a PM.

For the fae and werewolf profiles, please be sure to use at least ONE anime picture and ONE real picture. The anime picture will portray their 'true form,' and the real one as them how they normally look.
The human profiles don't require an anime picture, but feel free to add one if you want.

I'm not going to be very strict about your character. You can be pretty much anything (for non-human roles), so do whatever you want with your character. I would even prefer it if you had some great sob story for your character's background. BRING ON THE DRAMA, I LOVE IT.

✯ If faeries and werewolves and vampires and things like them really exist, exactly how many different species exist as well? Really, all mythical species exist in the Renaissance world. Those that do not exist are the monsters of legend from ancient folktales, like the Roc and the Wyvern. Aside from those, and a few others, anything's possible in this world.
✯ No one really knows who funds for the team's adventures and antics, or who pays for the damage caused by the them. The Fallen Angel has a hunch that his fellow angels had a part in it, but Raguel's lips are shut tight.
✯ Unfortunately, most or all vampires are evil, and side with Lucifer and his demons. As damned creatures themselves, it would hardly be reasonable if their purpose was to destroy others like them. It's rare that a vampire would turn and become good. Coincidentally, most werewolves side with the Angels, and the rivalry between wolf and vampire is fiercer than ever.
✯ In order to hide the horrible secret from simpleton humans, faeries, werewolves, and other creatures are able to disguise themselves as one of the humans by casting an illusion spell. What features distinguish fairies and werewolves from humans? As Faeries come in all shapes and sizes, it really depends on the type of species of fae, but normally, their skin is of a different shade, their ears are pointed, and their eyes one single color, without pupils or irises. Werewolves have ears like a dog, larger and sharper canines, and they're a bit hairier than the average human.
✯ Angels are able to hide their dove-like wings by merging it with their skin. An angels wings are slightly taller than the angels themselves, and their wing span extends to double the size of their arm length. When they want to walk among humans, the wings shrink and meld into the angels' backs, and it then looks like a tattoo or birthmark.
✯ The team has been together for nearly a century, as fae, werewolves and vampires, and angels do not age the way humans do. All team members look to be in their college years, but in reality, they are far, far older.
✯ On the outside, the team's headquarters is a run-down coffee shop near the outskirts of the city. The shop is tended by Raguel himself, and other angels who get bored from time to time, and is mostly visited by loyal customers, who, in reality, are magical creatures themselves. Dimly lit, supplied by only what's necessary, it's an uninteresting place. However, if you enter a camouflaged door, disguised as a nondescript bookcase in a dark corner, you'll discover the team's real headquarters. Along with the main meeting room, there's a library, a training and simulation room, and bedrooms for the odd team member or magical creature.

the Newbs HumansThe humans, coincidentally, go to the same high school in New York City. They've
never met, never spoken to eachother, never seen eachother aside from the
occasional glances when they passed eachother in the hallways. His gift to them

Alessandro R. Altomonte
Being born in Italy has its advantages, not to brag but Alessandro has impeccable
charming skills, often winning the ladies' hearts with a careful word or two- it could have
been somewhat heightened when using his 'magic ability' on them as well. Other than
his original Italian charm, Alessandro is somewhat of a workaholic, remaining devoted to
the task at hand rather than pleasantries, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't know how
to have a good time. Alessandro has the temper of a volcano, slow to anger but quick
to erupt. Similar to his sticky ability, Alessandro can be one to mooch off of others,
earning their trust and becoming a bit of a confidant. Alessandro is one of many
personalities, but being a general in waiting doesn't suit his style, he must be hands-
on most of the time, as he cannot stand not being the leader, as he believes he is suited.

Alexandra H. Kane
Alexandra is used to being in charge, and she has a hard time giving up authority to
anyone. She's very competitive, a trait she's picked up between her years in sports and
the three brothers she wrestles with at home. She is good at standing her ground against
those stronger than her, but she is also a stubborn girl with a hot head. It's her sudden
anger flashes that tend to get her into serious trouble.

She is quite aware of her seductive nature and enjoys exploiting it. Having lived for
so long without morals, she now constantly struggles with differentiating between
right and wrong. She has an insatiable curiosity and is constantly trying to learn more
about everything. In this, she truly admires humans and their ability to build on previous
generations of experience. As a former hunter of them, she is well-versed in human
behaviors and how to manipulate them them to her advantage.
His gift to the Fae is a boost in their magical abilities.

Johnikliathen "John" Sherledismithrhett
He is a bit awkward, since he has to grapple with the hundreds of animals within
himself while also trying to act like a normal teen. Although he has gotten better
at controlling them, he still finds it hard to focus in a particularly stressful situation.
John is extremely intelligent, because of so many years on earth allowed him a
bit of free time. He is very curious, often landing him in a couple unwanted situations.
He's mainly pictured as the younger brother of the group, despite the daily struggle
he faces. He is very philosophical, and loves losing himself into deep thought.
He doesn't do well in large crowds, because it becomes harder and harder to control
the more predatory animals within him when there are prey [humans] swirling all around
him. It's a bit more Dr. Jekyll and Mr.Hyde than he likes to reveal.
His gift to the Shape-Changer is enhancement of the five senses.

Charity Lenora Fulbright
Lenora is constantly in conflict with herself and who she wants to be, though she does
a great deal to hide that fact from the outside world. She grew up during the 1600's in
a very different and very proper England. As the years have changed England,
Lenora has changed with them to become an ultra-modern femme fatale. Outwardly,
she appears to be perfectly content with what most people would consider a degenerate
lifestyle. Lenora is constantly out at clubs or bars and keeps late hours, although
she never touches a drink for fear of losing control and breaking her 275 year streak of
not tasting human blood. She is lively but snarky, sharp-tongued and quick-witted with
a short temper for anyone aside from children. Lenora is not cold, she simply has lost
the willpower to care for very much since she has lived for so long. She does not like
to talk about herself and has not revealed to anyone her past or many of her private
thoughts. But Lenora has a heart of gold, or perhaps it is only gold-plated, but she truly
wants to do noble things for the world. Her only difficulty is attempting this when the
world expects her to be a criminal.
His gift to the turned Vampire is the ability to sense and control the feelings of others.

Xaphan, the former Angel of Invention; "Xander"
Sardonic and aloof, Xander isn't the most cheerful person to be around. How cheerful
would you be if you'd been thrown out of your home and forced to live on the streets?
He would be charming, as long as he didn't speak. He behaves in a nonchalant,
almost stuck-up manner that tends to grind people's nerves upon first meeting.
He has a sharp tongue and a sarcastic, dry sort of humor. Despite his rotton personality,
he cannot deny his angel's nature, and there are some times when he lets his act slip,
when he can be nice and caring and generous; unfortunately, times like those don't
come often. As the original Angel of Invention, he's calculating, resourceful, and intuitive,
and has a knack for fixing things and the like.
The Fallen Angel is, in himself, a special gift from Him; however, his powers have been
horribly reduced upon being cast out hundreds of centuries ago.

Setting
✯ The roleplay takes place in the bustling, fast-paced city of the capital of New York. It is the year 2012, the time of iPhones and flat screen TVs. The two humans [Male and Female] live their lives peacefully, oblivious of what's about to happen. Nearby, their soon-to-be team members [the Fae, the Shape-Changer, the Vampire, and the Fallen Angel] attempt normal, everyday human lives until the time when they are called to face off against Lucifer's newest cohorts. They both live peacefully, until comes the day when their destinies merge together, and that is where the story begins.
