Astraeus sat on the hard ground of the Safe Zone; not caring enough to fetch himself a mat or a pillow. His stay here was only temporary; just until Vanya's children found caves - or nests - of their own so there was room enough for him. Scratching his claws on the ground, he stretched out and turned his head to preen the feathers on his tail, a habit he had picked up from his mistress. The bells that adorned him tinkled and the 'star dust' that surrounded him shimmered in the sunlight.
Lifting his head, he eyed the other stallions around. There was quite a few; some he knew by reputation alone, some he'd spoken to and some he was surprised to see existed. He wondered if perhaps making friends with at least a few would be a good idea seeing as they were all in the same boat. Perhaps he could snag an invite to the Artisan's Guild. His claws had been itching to play with the tools; to do something.
Astraeus stood and stretched his back out, shaking out his mane and tail. He looked up at the sky, sun in the dead center making it noon. Plenty of time to make friends. He cleared his throat and tried to take a step forward, but faltered. He wasn't sure what to say. How the stallions would react. Suddenly he was nervous and he took a step back into the shadows, sitting down once more. "Let them make the first move, Astraeus. It seems the safest option," he mumbled to himself.

Bored.
Since he had been in the Artisan's Guild for so long, Morkin found that when he wasn't there, he grew bored. But his MIstress had asked him to take a small break, since he had worked far too hard, spent too many hours. And she was busy. Aquilina was the light of his yes right now. He did really love her... Or at least, as much as a stallion could a Harpy. Shaking out his short mane, he leans, nibbling at some of the grass down in the safe zone. His eyes flickered for a second, before he flickered his gaze up, and locked on another stallion within the zone.
Surely this was a mistake? Morkin's head lifted, his ears flicking up, staring toward the other stallion. There was no way that this stallion was not claimed already. He was unique in of itself. He eyed the stallion curiously. Harpy, meet a flutter and a kirin, it seemed. That was unique.Tilting his head to the side, Morkin leaned down, nibbling on the grass once more, though his eyes stayed locked on the dark stallion. Why was he in the safe zone, and not off with a Harpy, enjoying her presence?
Shifting carefully, the stallion lifted his head once more. He walked over slowly, his hooves indenting the grass as he moved, before he dipped his head slightly in greeting, a gentle smile moving onto his features. He wanted to learn about this stallion, see what he could find out and why he was so.. here, and not in a nest. "Good morning." He greeted, smiling toward him, friendly as always.

Hoto was restless. Restless, edgy, and in a near fowl mood he paced near the center of their sheltered clearing. He knew that if he went anywhere near the edges the mistresses would hiss and send him back in. They knew his reputation. That he was never allowed out without an escort, proper ties, and a muzzle. They remembered all to well when he'd screamed at the queen about being a 'real b****'. He snorted as he remembered and a small scar on his rump twitched. A reminder of how sharp a harpies claws were and how much the queen hated being defied.
((You don't have to play with him if you don't want to. I just think he's fun since he's one of the few stallions that doesn't and never will want to be there. xD))

There had been a period of adjustment. It wasn't everyday that you found yourself thrust into a situation that you weren't prepared for. He had been lured in and captured by the mare Vanya near the edge of this territory. The stallion knew that he should feel angered over such trickery but the emotion didn't appear. Instead he began to calmly integrate himself into harpy society.
He'd begun to understand his place. He'd been taken before the Queen as all captured stallions were and then effectively forgotten it seemed. He'd been settled into the safe zone for stallions. There had been a spark of interest in the options that were presented to him on his arrival but Hadyn realized that he would not be cut out for the Artisan's guild. If anything he was contributing to the Flock as a farmer. It was soothing enough work.
This day though he found himself grazing contently. There were other stallions around and Hadyn found himself wishing to converse. He approached a stallion who was currently addressing a Harpy Male and dipped his head politely before falling silent. He'd not interrupt a conversation if he could help it.

(My teepee is in my sig <3 ) It was Nekali's turn to keep post and protect the males in case of invasion. She had hoped to join her sisters on the hunt this afternoon but it was her lot today to stay within the flock territories. The harpy chafed a little at being confined but knew her position here was just as important as any others within the flock. Keeping a watchful eye on the males, she settled down for the long haul. There were a few new faces but mostly because she prefered not to mingle with males picked as favorites by her sisters. Still, a few caught her eye and she gave them a friendly nod if they happened to look her way.
Still... this had to be the quietest assignment of the month! The half-troll snorted at a passing butterfly and considered the mosses on the side of the nearby trees. She eyed her charges once more but decided if she was to hold a conversation she probably should wait to be approched. The last thing she wanted would be to annoy her sometimes territorial sisters. At least this way she could find out which of the stallions were welcome to chat with others. Born from her mother having a dalliance with a wandering troll stallion who had been captured for a while. Nekali had always felt a little out of place with her sisters from her large tusks but never had the chance to ask her father as he escaped during the migration of the herd. The half-troll mare was born during the migration and was lucky the Flock was a tight knit group or her mother might not have made it. Still she wondered if there were others like her father and was curious if any of the newly captured males had seen any soquili who shared that trait.

Astraeus eyed the stallion before he made his way over. He'd seen him around before, knew he was claimed by Aquilina but, until this moment, hadn't really interacted with him. More out of circumstances, rather than choice. Astraeus was often with Vanya and he was often with Aquilina. He was sure if they spent more time in the safe zone, they might've met sooner. Heck, he might've met a lot of others sooner. It didn't bother him too much. He wasn't the kind who needed others around him at every moment. But lately he'd begun realising that time went faster with others if you had nothing else to do.
His ears twitched at the arrival of the other stallion and he gave a nod of his head and a slight bow, folding his wings. "Morning," his voice was polite and calm and a smile accompanied his greeting. "You're claimed by Mistress Aquilina, yes?" He tilted his head to his side, wondering why he wasn't with her now. "My name's Astraeus, by the way."
The other stallion caught Astraeus' attention upon his arrival and he smiled. He knew this stallion; not personally, but he was another member of Vanya's harem. "Hadyn," he greeted with a friendly nod.
Eying around the enclosure, his eyes rested upon another stallion he'd not seen much of, but had heard of by reputation. He was a trouble maker, not happy with his position in the flock and Astraeus was curious as to why he was still here. It was unusual for the flock to keep males who were so unhappy and agitative.
Nekali caught his eye and he gave a low bow; something Vanya had told him to do should he encounter another female in the flock. "Mistress."

Out of the corner of his eyes he caught the strange clawed, tri-breed flutter watching. He snorted as he continued his pacing. Let them watch! He could not begin to contemplate why they most of these poor louts were content to be here. It was a prison enforced by deadly claws. Just thinking about it made him want to go destroy something. AND THAT DAMN FLUTTER COULD FLY AWAY IF HE WANTED TO! Why didn't he? Flutters shrank and flew, they could go anywhere, hide in anything. That was what made a flutter, a flutter! Oh if he had wings right now...or even those damn, deadly, beautiful, magnificent, articulated claws. He wouldn't be in this mess right now!

As his name was spoken by the dark stallion Hadyn gave a snort of surprise. As far as he knew he had not seen this stallion before so how was it that he was being addressed by name? It was a puzzle that he wished to solve. Hadyn caught the nod that was directed at him at the same time and realized that it was one of friendship. He gave a mental shrug before smiling. "Good morning. I seem to be at a slight disadvantage. You know my name but I have yet to learn yours."
As he spoke his eyes caught the restless stallion's actions before returning his gaze to await a reply. He also noted the guard assigned to watch over them out of the corner of his eye. Maybe he would try to converse with her after. He'd have to remember to show her every sign of respect.

Nekali nodded a greeting in return, admiring for a moment the star covered stallion. She had a good guess who he belonged to, her sister in claws, Vanya. With her work taking her beyond the boundries of the inner circles she did not see her often, but her beauty, and choice in males were well known. After nodding a greeting to another stallion, this one a gorgious shade of blue, she smiled. Maybe this shift was not as bad as it seemed. Nekali did not really have a claim to any male, she was often too busy to take care of one, let alone a harem! This way she could at least admire from afar, even if they were not her's to claim.
As she observed Nekali noticed one of the stallions pacing back and forth and frowned. It was not common to see such an agitated aura from a male unless something had gone horribly horribly wrong. She wondered for a moment what it could have been to cause him to be so ungrateful of the protection and care that he received. Sure, they were not allowed to leave the secured areas without a guide, but within the nests they were quite often pampered and well taken care of if chosen by one of the sisterhood. It was a small price to pay for such a plush lifestyle. Nekali knew she would not want such a thing but that was because she gained her father's wanderlust, something she kept satiated by traveling around the boarders and hunting with her sisters. Maybe this stallion was like her... She curiously watched him, not wanting to interfere but still keeping an eye on him as time went by.

Quite suddenly Hoto stopped his pacing in mid step. He realized he was thirsty, hungry, and in need of releasing himself. None of those things he was allowed to do without the watchful eye of one of the sisters. It was why he ate and drank so rarely. The sisters did not allow him a quarter of the freedom some of the other stallions where afforded. He looked around the clearing to the edges to locate one of the mares. His stomach then decided to growl very loudly to remind him to be expedient about his errand.
His eyes lighted on a blue mare. She was not one of the normal glade guards. Since he was here pretty much all the time he knew he would have noticed her. Especially if for her unusual tusks and hair. Well unusual for around here anyway, were feathers were so common.
Maybe...if she didn't know him...she wouldn't hiss at him and treat him with quite as much vehemence as the other sisters.
He walked toward the blue mare and was surprised that she was bigger than the others. Maybe even of his own warhorse blood, or that of the heavy drafts. "Mistress. I am Hototo. I am not allowed to get water or food for myself without an escort. May I ask of your company?" He'd learned long ago to be overly polite with the sisters. He didn't like having anymore ugly scars on his pretty coat. He remembered that he'd conveniently forgotten to mention that he was normally well tied and muzzled around the sisters.

Nekali watched as the pacing stallion paused and then came up to her. As he introduced himself she nodded in return. "Welcome Hototo, I am Nekali, it is a pleasure to meet you." She thought upon his question not quite sure what the protocol was. She knew there was another guard stationed at the other end of the glade so the stallions still there would be protected but would it be seen as abandoning her post? As she considered the alternative she shrugged not seeing any harm in letting the other stallions graze in peace. They seemed to be quite content to chatter amongst themselves for the time being and it had been pretty quiet for a few months. The large blue mare nodded, "I can take you." The area picked for such elimination was only a few moments away and she did not feel it would take very long, that and he seemed quite polite. With a smile she gestured towards the path that would take them to the small clearing. "I shall follow you, you know the way yes?" She trusted him to behave and it did not occur to her that she should be overly cautious with this stallion. Nekali was more the hunter type so if he did run he would be hard pressed to get away but she always had an aura of respect for others around her no matter their circumstances. With another nod she started towards the pathway, glancing back at the glade for good measure, noticing the other harpy mare watching them. Well she would have mentioned something if this was not allowed... Nekali thought to herself, not realizing that maybe the other mare had no idea what had transpired.

He found himself smiling at her and instantly liking her, an irregularity around here since he hated the sisters and they hated him. She looked strong and she was well marked and he liked those things. "I am sure the pleasure is mine. You're coat is truly beautiful." He couldn't remember willingly giving a harpy mare a compliment since his mistress Suria.
Ne nodded and waited as she thought it over and then nodded some more when she agreed to take him. He waited for her to recognize him or register some of the rumors she had probably heard about him but she did not. He found himself actually being grateful for this since the ropes and muzzle made him feel like a dumb animal.
"I...." Hoto faltered at her question. "...I mostly know the way...my head is usually bowed as I follow. I am not afforded the same kind of freedom the other stallions get. I find myself wondering why you do not know that or why you do not know me. I thought every mare in the flock knew me and hated me." He pointed his big body in the right direction and just expected it to take him there on autopilot. He was sure his growly stomach knew the way.

Astraeus smiled at Hadyn, a sparkle in his eyes. "I belong to Vanya. She told me of you but this is our first encounter." The movement of the other stallion caught his attention for a moment and he watched him carefully. He seemed.. restless and Astraeus wondered if perhaps there was going to be trouble today. He hoped the stallion would behave. The guards were always stricter on the other males when one acted out.
Shaking his head, he brought his attention back to Hadyn and smiled. "I wonder how long until were moved back to Vanya's quarters? I imagine the girls will be moving out on their own soon." At least, Astraeus hoped so. Living with Vanya had certain.. comforts and while he hadn't experienced any of them as of yet, he had heard of them and was itching for that life.
Eyes shifting, he watched the restless stallion move off with Nekali and let out a small sigh of relief. Hopefully some food would calm him down a little.

Rockin' Blues, as of yet unclaimed by a female, seemed to spend a lot of time in this Safe Zone for males. He must admit, this was not shaping up to what he was expecting at all. He'd been expecting the life of a male courtesan, not... spending most of his time bored and the rest of it being yelled at. Today seemed different, however. There were more males here than any other day. What was going on? Shouldn't they be with their females or something? Nothing interrupting Rockin's daily routine of staring blindly into the trees. Still, he pushed down his irritation and sauntered over to the small knot of stallions. "Vanya... It's a pretty name to be sure! And you seem so smitten," he interrupted with a small grin.
