The 10th Annual Ball is only days from starting. The King and Queen of Dreams are busy preparing to host the event in the human world, and the residents of the castle are helping too. The curse is in effect, and spirits are low. However, in the realm of fantasy, amusing things are always going to put smiles on people's faces when least expected.
**Just jump in with your character, and start getting practice! We want to know our characters (and each other's characters) inside and out before the ball starts! We can also come up with some fun minor plot points from this.**
=================================================
Queen Lunae descends the castle stairs into the grand ballroom, still in a stupor from the dream she had the previous night. A dream within a dream, she mused. Someone should make a movie about that. She shrugged off her odd dream, and joined a group of people she saw milling about.
"Good morning, everyone. Has anyone found any posters of hot guys for me to hang on my ceiling? I need something to make my dreams better."

Okay, before I jump in, I need to know the rules...RP rules. What person do we speak in? Do we ** actions? Do we have a way of talking to each other out of character or will we try to do that with chat?
Any major no-nos?

Well, this is for practice anyway, but I can make a list. biggrin You use third person past tense to describe what your character does. Asterisks are a big no no stylistically, but no one will murder you in your sleep if you slip and use them. Some people bold their speaking, and some people just use extra spaces like you see in books. Either is fine, although I've seen more bolding than anything. (Maybe I need to jump on that bandwagon actually.) Don't god-mod (a.k.a. control someone else's character and or kill them). Don't flame. Don't troll. Yadda yadda yadda. We also usually have out of character comments in double parentheses at the bottom. ((For example, if you wanted to say something about leaving for a few hours, you'd put that here. Of course, you won't need that in a slow paced practice RP like this, but you'll be using these double parentheses a ton.))

During the ball please stay in character, we will be using Chatango to communicate during the ball to one alother, plus we have Gaia IM. Write like how you see in novels.

Well it is a good thing we get to practice first! Hopefully I will get the feel of it and it will be natural before ball time comes. If I get yelled at for screwing up I will be seriously pissed because A. I am a beginner at this and B. I am volunteer and I am trying to help. SO, if I do something wrong, kindly let me know that so I can correct myself.
Okay, after this I am going getting in character...or at least I will attempt to do so.

Brom rubbed his tired eyes and took a sip of the hot drink he was holding. He glared at the queen as she walked in and snarled at her comment. "Why don't you hang your husband from the ceiling?"

Summanus, descending the stairs in his wifes' wake, scratched at his head as he yawned. "Because dear brother, I prefer the bed. Though I do suppose I could hang a mirror up there to make things more....interesting to say the least." He grinned as he walked over to his brother without even acknowledging the Queen.
"I hoped you fared better then I during your sleep?" He asked as he stretched. Summanus hadn't been sleeping well for the last few nights, and everyone knew about it due to his enlarged surely manner.

Brom grinned at his brother and chuckled at the idea of the mirror on the ceiling. "I slept horribly, apparently someone thought it was a good idea to keep a rooster in their chambers. Darn thing crowed all night." Brom grimaced as he rubbed his hand over his face. "Doesn't help that I have a headache and I haven't gotten any in days."

Lunae smirked at her husband's comment.
"Well, that would make things more interesting; that's for sure. But, a girl does need a little variety in her dreams to keep things getting too dull," she said with a wink.
"But, a rooster! Now that's something! What was someone trying to do? Scare away a monster in your room? What was that one called, again? I never can keep track of those."

Before descending the grand staircase and heading toward the ballroom where everyone else seemed to be congregating, Giselle double-checked her appearance in an ornate full-length mirror hanging at the head of the stairs. After all, just because she had been too busy to sleep, didn't mean that she had to let herself start looking as haggard as she felt. Sure enough, every hair was still in place, her makeup flawless, and her lovely gown--a creation of her own design--was still looking fresh and smooth. Satisfied with her appearance, Giselle glided down the staircase, spell book in hand, and greeted the rest of the royal court, some of whom were looking none the worse for wear.
"Good morning, sleepyheads!" she called out, putting some extra sweetness in her voice just to annoy Brom. "I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who's been losing sleep lately, but I must say that I am shocked to see that apparently I'm the only one who's actually been trying to figure out how to solve our problems! Alas, I've had no luck so far...And by the way, Your Majesty," she added, quirking her lips into a wry and slightly mischievous little smirk as she turned to the queen, "if you're thinking of a GOBLIN as the monster in the bedroom, I would like to remind you that I am FAR too much of a lady to be stalking people in their rooms at night!" She added a little sniff to that last statement for comic effect. She was in an odd kind of mood this morning, somewhere between being worried and afraid for the kingdom, cranky due to lack of sleep, exasperated with everyone else for not having a plan to try to undo the curse....and somehow still wanting to tease and add levity to the situation.
Then her brain finally registered the other snippet of conversation she had heard while coming down the stairs. "A ROOSTER??? Why in the world are you talking about a rooster?"

Brom grinned at his sister-in-law, trying to decide whether he should risk tossing her in the nearby fountain. He was about to make up his mind when Giselle waltzed in. Brom rolled his eyes at her comment and then with a sudden wicked grin, "Giselle, you could be the goblin in my bedroom any time you want" "The rooster, however, can go stuff himself"

Giselle contemplated whether or not smacking Brom across his leering face would be worth the broken fingernails that might result. She decided against ruining her manicure just yet, opting instead for a verbal comeback.
Rolling her eyes and turning a wry smile in his direction, she replied, "Really, MUST your mind always run in that same direction? It must be tiring...But anyway, I'm afraid I have to decline your, ah, offer. Your social calendar is probably crowded already, daahling. And besides, I have so much to do--like, oh, trying to figure out how we can get things in this kingdom back to normal before we all disappear--that my calendar is full too. But I'm sure you'll find another lovely green goblin to chase all over the palace...even if only in your dreams."
Brom really was kind of fun to flirt with sometimes, but Giselle's actual romantic tastes lay elsewhere. As prim and proper as she was, she still preferred a man who could make her laugh over one who was surly half the time and full of himself ALL the time. Thinking of the one who had occupied quite a bit of her attention for a long time made the blood rush to her lovely green face, and she suddenly found herself having to work hard to keep the blush from being noticeable, lest Brom think--or say--that HE was the reason for the sudden redness in her countenance.

Brom laughed and ready to dodge a smack, grabbed Giselle and kissed her on the forehead. "You are right as always Goblin Girl, but you will always be the goblin of my dreams." He winked as he squeezed her hand gently and moved away to find his brother.
Giselle was right about one thing, there were very important things to discuss.

Giselle shook her head as Brom continued his playful flirtatious behavior, kissing her forehead and squeezing her hand. The brief bit of familiar friendly banter they'd exchanged transported her mind, just for a moment, back to the way things used to be, before the curse had descended upon the kingdom and threatened their very existence.
But as Brom pulled away, Giselle's problems all came crashing down on her again. What only she and the king and queen knew was that in addition to being the palace sorceress and a lady-in-waiting, Giselle also served the kingdom as an officer in the dream world's spy agency, and because of her undercover contacts in other dream realms, Giselle knew what Brom and Ernestine and their other friends might not know yet, but would probably soon find out: the problem was far more widespread than they had thought at first. This kingdom was not the only one in danger; all of the dream worlds were under the same threat. The problems of this kingdom, and of the realms in which her fellow undercover agents lived, also worried Giselle. She could only imagine how the King and Queen were feeling. After all, everyone was looking to them for guidance. They literally carried the weight of the world on their shoulders. Giselle and everyone else could only do so much.
She gave her head a little shake to bring herself out of this futile worrying. Now wasn't a time for worrying; it was a time to work on solving the problem.
"I miss the old days," she murmured in Brom's direction. "And if I can help it, we'll have good days again...and soon!"
((I'm in the spy room/news room too, and I'm playing Giselle in a femme-fatale disguise in the spy room, using a mule. But both accounts will be Giselle. That's why I added the spy bit.))

((So you did decide to use my mule! XD ))
"A basilisk!," Lunae randomly yelled out after a moment of tuning out everyone else. "The crow of a rooster can kill a basilisk! I knew there was a joke in there somewhere!"
Lunae stopped an looked around her. The conversation had already moved on. She sighed, and pulled a few long silver strands behind her ear, and tried to regain her queenly composure. She usually didn't have any trouble being regal and elegant, but whenever a question arose, it worked on her mind endlessly until she found an answer. At such times, people would accuse her of spacing out, but she didn't mind. She was queen after all.
"Back on topic.. Brom, I'm betting Caliban put the rooster in your room. Last week, he put a duck in my pillow thinking that duck feathers on an actual duck would be hilarious in a feather pillow. Anyway, remind me to punish him on your behalf, although I think it might be fun to punish you both together... Oh! And, Giselle, thank you for your tireless search. I would have risen early to help you, but I had to get my beauty sleep. I'd rather the world end before I let myself go around with bags under my eyes. No offense, of course."
