Updated; Nov. 19 2013 Okay today is going to be a new beginning to my weight loss journey. Some of you know I did the two months of Insanity over the summer break and completed it, but because I didn't take the supplements and recovery formula they recommend and I didn't really go on an extreme diet I didn't lose that much (I think I lost only a pound or two)... but I did lose some inches (realistically, probably centimeters >.>). But I want to get back on this again. So starting today I'm watching more of what I eat (like those peppermint Trader Joe's JoJo's I ate yesterday night was a no-no and I knew in the back of my head I should have turned them down but I ate them anyway). I'm going to try to work out 5 to 6 days out of the week. I want to lose 5-10lbs before I have to get my damn bridesmaid dress next month.

Sage fully endorses this.
A log is good, like listing what exercise you are doing each day.
Remember its not so much how much you eat, as much as what you eat. Humans are naturally grazing animals and as such eating thoughout the day is normal and can be healthy. As long as you replace those high cal snacks with things like fruits and veges. Even if your not a fruit or vege fan try some different ones. Personally I love snackin on raw carrots (the taste good have a good crunch and are a nutritional powerhorse "Vitmin A, B, C, K, + many minerals"
Also "Overall, the researchers found that people with higher blood levels of alpha-carotene were at lower risk of dying from any cause over a 14-year follow-up period, than people with low levels. People with higher levels were also at lower risk of specifically dying from any cardiovascular disease and from cancer This lowered risk was independent of factors such as lifestyle habits, blood pressure, age and sex."
In short snacking on carrots not only is a massive energy and nutrient boost, recent studys show that it has a massive effect on Cardiac disease risk, which to anyone with a higher than optimal weight should consider.
But really most fruits and veges are massivly good.
Feeling low on energy reach for a banana, those taste excellent, and have massive energy boosting propertys and many other good nutrients.
Eating slower is definitly good, though sadly our brains arent good at letting us know when we are full. So two pieces of advice here, since you already know water is the main key to weight loss, I would suggest having it when you eat because it will help you get full faster as well as helping you process food better. But a good way to know you are full before your brain or stomach tells you is...Sighing, or yawning, both are good ques (if you dont feel full when you do these, wait a couple mins and you most likly will).
Remember one of the keys is making goals that work. So whilst your goals are a good start keep "SMART" in mind
S = Specific...Exercise more? What does that mean, it should be more specific for example "go on a 30 minute walk everyday, on top of my regular walking activity"
M = Measurable, I see you are measuring your weight, but thats not always one of the best things to measure even if its your main goal. Why not measure exercise things, when you get better at exercise even with no weight change you will see positive results (remember muscle is about 20% heavier than fat when density is concerned). So gaining muscle is great because muscle takes more energy to run meaning it burns more cals than fat even when you sleep (win-win). But measure you exercise if you can (like distance when walking, number of repetitions if doing weights etc)
A = Achieveable, most science points to 2 - 3 pounds per week being logical and achievable. More than 3 pounds can be risky and just unattainable (rember its a average 4lb one week 2lb the next is okay). I wont say lower your aim, but remember anything above 3 is just a bonus.
R = Relevant, Basically when you know your exercises make sure they are relevant to you goals (30 mins of sit ups, is pretty much 30 mins of wasted time, and I can give you much better ab workouts than situps)
T = Timely....You already have a time frame.
Im sorry if I am talking to much, but I am kind of passionate about health and nutrition, and have studied it quite deeply (and keep studying it). So any questions or advice please feel free to pm me. (On my main or here if needed). I reseach everything and build on my on knowledge so will do that for anything you need.
If you would like me to remove this, or condense it to clean your thread, let me know.
Finally, if I pledged 10k per pound (as long as its a healthy number dont over do it), would that help? Because I will do it...unless you feel it would would against you.

thank you. and no need to remove this. i enjoy getting tips. and you're right i should give myself more specific goals. ^^ and right now i lift 5lbs (so 10lbs because there's one in both hands) and i feel comfortable with it. and i've been riding the bike for 20-30minutes getting 10-12 miles in each time. i really want to get passed that mark. the road the bike two years ago and it helped my breathing a lot. so my main goal is to get my breathing back in order as of right now. and i do some weight lifting and crunches after i'm done. and i have been drinking water. and i love carrots! i ate those for a while when i was losing weight last time. (my mom said you burn more calories when you digest carrots than you do when you eat them... is that right?) one more thing, 10k per pound i lose. x.x that would be nice. >.< but it isn't necessary. X3 so you really don't have to do it.

Awesome, negitive calorie foods are kind of a myth.
"While this concept is popular in dieting guides, there is no scientific evidence that any of the foods claimed as negative calorie foods are such.[1][2] Foods that are claimed to be negative in calories are mostly low-calorie fruits and vegetables such as grapefruit, lemon, lime, apple, lettuce, celery, broccoli and cabbage.[3] Celery, a commonly cited negative calorie food, actually requires only about 10% of its food energy content to be digested (due to the thermic effect)"
Thats not to say if you eat huge ammounts of them you will still gain weight (doing so is harder though because they tend to be more filling). But these foods are more easily broken down by the body and the calories they have are not likly to be converted to fat.
"Although chewing celery might seem like a strenuous activity, it burns about the same amount of calories as watching grass grow"
Water is BOSS.
And in that case I HEREBY VOUCH 10k PER POUND LOST BEFORE THE END OF SUMMER.
I do this because...Well since I am vouched it, you owe it not only to yourself to achieve you goals (which is the most important thing, doing it only for yourself, and your health, not to please others), but also to me, another reason to keep at it and keep updating.

Its okay, mind on the prize hun, dont let it get you down.
Here and there is a problem
solution
FOOD DIARY...I ask of you, write down all you eat...ALL OF IT. Seriously do it, you will see what happens. And since you dont need to show anyone but you what it says, you cant cheat and skip things on it. A small note pad can work if you want to take it with you.
And drink a lot of work?

Habits take a while to form, food journaling is a habbit. What ever the journal is, it should be able to be kept in a pocket (or if you use a handbag that). Put a note somewhere near your bed that you will see at night with something like "did you journal your food today" do this for at least a week. And I know what you meant, just thought it was funny

Good luck on your goal. Just remember to not get upset with yourself if you gain weight. There can be some setbacks, and in the end what you really want to do is have a healthier lifestyle so you can maintain your awesome-er body. And also remember it's good too to weigh a little more but be more toned. =D
