Just read the Game Informer article about the game.
I'm not really interested to be honest. TES has always been a single player experience to be reckoned with due to it's open ended game play.
You can't have that sort of open endedness in a MMO due to latency issues and whatever.
Not only this but now people are going to expect future TES and Fallout games to have multiplayer aspects out the box.

So long as they never let TESO effect the single player games at all, I am fine. I don't play MMO's they bore me, you play an every day person, compared to the hero.
I have to admit, part of me hopes this dies.

After thinking about it, I am probably going to play this game even though I have an extreme hatred for MMORPGs.
Why?
Because I love the world that Bethesda has created and the ability to wander through Morrowind with some cronies is just too sweet to pass up.

I get Farmer Joe his Apple of Application and am rewarded, of course he has every person doing the same. No matter what you do, nothing actually has a real effect unlike in the single player game where once my character completes a quest its done, over, no more cheese.

Is it going to be based on the entire world rather than just skyrim or cyrodil? Do you have to pay in order play online?? If so it's going to be a replica of WoW and i hate paying to play that game but it's fun as hell.

I do agree that some fun will be gone from the game but if it has a good story I will play. It will be interesting to see how another company will do TES... Yes it prolly won't be as good but Todd Howard stays in constant contact with the project I hope they have a beta so i can try it first before buying. After playing in the worlds that Bethesda has created for us, I can honestly say that this is going to be the world's most glitchy MMO. XD Love Bethesda. But daaayum, backwards flying dragons and the Gray Fox chillin' in some chick's house and repeating himself. Personally, I think the MMO thing is a major copout.
However, if the MMO doesn't affect the games that are in the actual series and they still deliver the world we so love and FUS so much... I will be a happy Argonian maid. heart

I still can't bring myself to even try and play this project, even if Bethesda keeps an eye on it. First off, the screenshots are rather cartoony, second part of the fun for me about the TES games is the mod-ability.

I shall probably wait until I see some real gameplay footage before deciding to play or not. Realistically, I read that they would resort to class-based levelling, and that isn't my cup of tea regarding The Elder Scrolls. I like having the ability to choose which abilities to use, like in Skyrim, you can totally ignore a skill, or level it up all the way, it doesn't matter since there aren't generic classes to choose from. Secondly, this takes place thousand years before Skyrim correct? Wouldn't that imply that maybe the Morag Tong should be around instead of The Dark Brotherhood? I miss the good old Morag Tong, the Dark Brotherhood is getting really old, really fast. Besides, Morag Tong was around first, the Dark Brotherhood branched off of it, so who's to say this is before or after that separation? And lastly, as many others have already pointed out, the ideal that makes this game series so amazing is the ability for totally customized single player experiences, and having an mmo would pretty much limit that ability severely. I think I'll just wait until TES6, but I still might give this a try, unless I have to pay per month.

Personally, I want to give this MMO a whirl. Why? Because even though I hate games like WoW because they are a monetary black hole, I will FINALLY get to see Alinor/Summerset Isle, after years of reading all of these descriptions of crystal palaces, sparkling seas, and magical trees with purple flowers on them and wishing I could see it for myself. I'll also get a nostalgia high as I run through the provinces of Cyrodil, Skyrim, and even Morrowind (though I don't know that one nearly as well as the other two) and recognize the entire layout of the land.
Basically, I'm doing this not so much for the game itself, but because it's an in depth look into the topography and past of Tamriel, something that I really do need a helluva lot more material on for the fanfics I write (nothing I hate more than inaccuracy to the actual history except bad writing itself). It's all in the name of research.
Aside from that, I trust Bethesda to impress me. I need something besides Skyrim mods to kill time while I wait for TES 6 to come out. If that entertainment comes in the form of an MMO, then I guess I can be cool with that, so long as it won't hurt the single player franchise.

But I do believe that Game Informer said the Brotherhood will appear in the MMO. It would have to be when they're still somewhat green as an organization however, seeing as the Morag Tong fell apart and the remains of that became the Brotherhood sometime in the Second Era, which is when this game takes place, if I'm correct. Maybe there won't even be a Listener at this point, because the Night Mother herself is alive to dictate the will of Sithis. eek
