Virga
Offense
Ice crystals are known to fall from rainclouds in a phenomenon called virga
and are responsible for the streaks one may see beneath a raincloud though
there's no rain; this is because it evaporates before it hits the ground. Krinn
is able to harness the core of his essence and produce dangerous ice crystals
from falling rain, a driving, pelting force in a radius that can dent even the
strongest of armor and break bones at its fiercest impact. Without rain,
Krinn can produce the moisture from his essence and hurl them with more
accuracy, though the crystals are prone to melting too far from his body.
Nimbus
Defense
Generally low-hanging, these water-heavy clouds serve a dual purpose for
Krinn when they're around: not only can he draw the clouds from the sky
to surround him and obscure the battlefield, he can freeze the water within.
Freezing it can ice an enemy's form for a short while but evaporates the
cloud rapidly. If no clouds are handy, Krinn can create a smaller version
of the nimbus to obscure himself within; if the enemy is within touching
distance, he can freeze the water of his personal nimbus, but its power is
more limited to freezing a limb or pelting his foe before evaporating.
Precipitation
Healing
When raining, Krinn is able to infuse a healing property into the droplets of
rain around him, a slow regenerative effect as rain has on a dehydrated plant.
Without rain, Krinn can coat his hands in precipitation and lend the same
effect via touch, though its effects aren't as strong and can tire him out after
a few uses.

It smells of rain.
Summer rain, winter rain, a storm, a light shower, and more.
It is quiet sometimes, but when the wind rustles outside the window and carries the heaviness of clouds pregnant with chill, its insides darken, awakening to the sound of thunder and lightning. On days it beads with water as though left out in the wetness of early spring or a threadbare fall, filling his windowsill with pools of water that dry in the sun. The glass is deep blue and streaked with grays, and as the days pass by, dark clusters of mist begin to cling to it. A storm built around the bottle, miniature and harmless and enrapturing all at once. It cradles within it an essence powerful enough to tear trees from the ground and make the seas storm. And yet at the same time, on days he can sleep next to the bottle and dream of light summer drizzles and a warm wetness on his skin, and very nearly hear and smell the fresh dampness in the air.
It holds two sides to one coin. The storm and the shower. The hurt and the healing that rain can bring.
And when the magic within stirs, and when that bottle becomes a Dust, and that Dust begins to grow into a young man, he wonders vaguely, which side of the rain will you be? ♚ xxx ♚ xxx ♚ xxxA nimbus cloud is a cloud that produces precipitation. Usually the precipitation reaches the ground as rain, hail, snow, or sleet. Falling precipitation may evaporate as virga. Nimbus is a Latin word meaning cloud or rain storm. The prefix nimbo- or the suffix -nimbus indicates a precipitating cloud; for example, a nimbostratus cloud is a precipitating stratus cloud, and a cumulonimbus cloud is a precipitating cumulus cloud.
Rain is liquid precipitation, as opposed to non-liquid kinds of precipitation such as snow, hail and sleet. Rain requires the presence of a thick layer of the atmosphere to have temperatures above the melting point of water near and above the Earth's surface. On Earth, it is the condensation of atmospheric water vapor into drops of water heavy enough to fall, often making it to the surface. Two processes, possibly acting together, can lead to air becoming saturated leading to rainfall: cooling the air or adding water vapor to the air. Virga is precipitation that begins falling to the earth but evaporates before reaching the surface; it is one of the ways air can become saturated. Precipitation forms via collision with other rain drops or ice crystals within a cloud. Large rain drops are oblate-shaped and small drops are spherical.
Cultural attitudes towards rain differ across the world. In temperate climates, people tend to be more stressed when the weather is unstable or cloudy, with its impact greater on men than women. Rain can also bring joy, as some consider it to be soothing or enjoy the aesthetic appeal of it. In dry places, such as India, or during periods of drought, rain lifts people's moods. In Botswana, the Setswana word for rain, "pula", is used as the name of the national currency, in recognition of the economic importance of rain in this desert country.

Overall appearance: Lanky and tall now, the raincloud's new appearance is somewhat stormier than what he looked like as a child. The Dust's hair is now a deep stormy grey, reaching his mid-back at its longest points. Choppy and uneven in some places, Krinn is most commonly seen with it tied in a high ponytail, allowing him to see better without it whipping around in his face. Much to the teen's private shame, he's learned and mastered almost every different way of putting his hair back and styling it differently, though its uncommon to see him with it in anything bearing on intricate. The dust is fair skinned and doesn't tan easily. Or at all. Instead, he burns when he's out too long. Instead of eyes of only one color, Krinn has heterochromia, with one iris swallowed in storm grey and the other a bright cyan. Lean and tall, the Dust's forms isn't necessarily muscular, though he does have a toned frame from many hours spent riding and later training with Berkley.
As for Krinn's choice in clothing, it ranges. When working on foot or simply going out for the day, the Dust has a heavily asian influenced wardrobe. Easy to slip in and out of are yukata's and light kimono's, which he'll wear to things such as festivals and the like. If he's asked to work or help out, he'll usually roll of the sleeves to his shoulders so that they're out of the way. However, at the stables and sometimes around home, Krinn's style becomes more westernized. He's not unaccustomed to wearing half-chaps and tall boots, breeches and vests. The Dust is against heavy clothing, as he gets hot extremely easy and tolerates the cold well.

Fears: The Dust's most obvious fears are things to do with weather, things that chase the rain away. The idea of droughts and dry summers make Krinn nervous and finicky, and particularly sunny days mean nothing but moodiness from the teenage dust. Due to a prior incident, the teenager is also afraid of forgetting things. Not silly things of course, like what he had for lunch or what he was supposed to pick up from the market, but actual memories. Though Krinn is fully recovered from the incident that gave him this fear, he still remembers it every day, and will probably carry the scar for life.
Hobbies: Krinn has become extremely fond of cooking, just like his guardian. However, where the chef is more attuned to dishes of all sorts, Krinn's talent only seems to be with simple things and baked goods. Apart from that, the Dust has become keenly addicted to working with horses, and has even picked up a part-time job as a groom at a nearby stables. Tying into that, Krinn is fascinated by hunting and tracking, and he's taken a keen interest in traveling the woods and wilderness surrounding Amies and the places near where he lives. The Dust has become interested in combat as well, and has even... ah, persuaded Berkley into teaching him how to duel. Though persuaded is a kind way of saying he made a bet with the older man and won.
Whether a real hobby or not, Krinn enjoys making bets and competing with others. Most of all, he enjoys winning. He's not afraid to put things on the line for something that he wants. A hobby of his lesser known by other people is his natural inclination to walk in the rain or run out into the weather as soon as a storm comes through. This is partly due to his essence, and partly do to his fascination with the power of storms and the way that they play out. Apart from these, the Dust is also extremely fascinated with language, and enjoys learning different tongues and dialects.
Quirks & Mannerisms: Though many of the Rain's habits stem from the essence itself, there are a few that don't quite fit. The young adult favors walking barefoot and only wears shoes when he has to. He is also eager to go out whenever it is raining and simply take walks or sit and admire, whether it be a shower or a storm. Krinn also favors sleeping outside on rooftops sometimes, though on particularly warm nights, he'll stay wherever is coolest. The Dust tends to walk in the shade on sunny days, and has a habit of staying in the sunlight for only so long before he becomes extremely irritated and irrationally fearful that he's going to disappear. Krinn is also known to worry his lip between his teeth when he's nervous, and he will often tie and retie his ponytail when impatient or otherwise distressed.

Personality: There is a fine line drawn, in his mind and in his soul, between the eye of the storm and the feral nature of it. Pensive and reflective, the Dust can appear as calm as ever in the beginning of most situations; an enigmatic character with little to offer emotionally and a lot to gain intellectually. But don't believe that facade. While Krinn is certainly intelligent, quick, and sharp, and beyond that, he is... well. He is something. A fast learner, the Dust is constantly moving, constantly impatient to see and taste and touch something new. Holding him in one place will do little good. Trying to pin him down with commitments and control even less. The Dust is very much like the essence he is made from - always moving. Sitting still is difficult for him, irritating even. Held too long in stasis and Krinn's patience will deteriorate, alongside his sanity and his amiable facade. Ever moving, ever shifting, the Dust is impossible to contain when he does not want it. Impossible to control, when he desires something with all his heart.
Ill tempered beneath his pretty little mask, the Dust is a great big walking thunderstorm when he is insulted, and has taken to being a living, neon mood ring to those that know him well. Krinn's temper shifts and changes nearly day to day. One will never know how much patience he has left in him on any given encounter, and it might even be wise to call the Rain a volatile creature, as it is nearly impossible to predict his mood in the next coming days, even the next coming hours. It is easy to tip the scale for Krinn, and easy to put him from happy to angry, angry to sad, sad to pensive, and so on and so forth. However, the Dust spends a lot of time in silence, contemplating his actions and the consequences of them. It is not necessarily that he means to lash out when he does, or become extremely moody out of the blue. It is rather more that he has never... tried to fix that part of himself. Sadly, the Dust is a stubborn soul, prideful even as he grows up -- something that might sooner become a downfall for him than anything good. Apologies are scarce from him, and it takes a very good relationship formed with the Dust for him to say anything of the like.
Unfortunately, one cannot expect to find the rain to be particularly forgiving. Vengeful, he never forgets someone who has wronged him, and it is damned near impossible to sway him out of being somewhat resentful until he has simmered and come down on his own accord. Krinn is a merciless soul. He is not a cruel one, but he believes more in justice than in showing a gentle hand when a crime has been committed, whether it be a personal one or not. This part of himself however, he keeps quiet unless it is a question brought up in conversation. The rain understands that this is a trait that most associate with the villains in stories, the ones who are not kind or caring of compassionate at all. And it cannot be said that Krinn isn't caring and kind of his own accord, simply that he does not believe in lessening punishment when someone has done something willingly and consciously that should not be allowed.
Krinn is also a realist. He refuses to show optimism in a place where favorable turns of events seem likely, nor is he very pessimistic, though one could say he is increasingly moody. The young adult likes to favor the realistic approach, and though he'll never admit it, this is mostly because he is tired of disappointments, and works to keep away from getting his hopes up only to have them fall down with an overabundance of optimism. He can tolerate others who seem ready to jump the gun at the sunshine and daisies approach, but he will not follow. The rain is extremely independent, and he hates the idea of having to rely on others to survive, mostly because he's less trusting than he might appear.

Overall appearance: Lan's appearance could be described in one small word; exotic. A rich and foreign sort of spectacle, Lan's dark caramel skin is the first thing to attract the eye. While not as richly colored as his ancestors, the young adult's dark complexion only serves to accent and brighten his eyes and hair. He has recently cut is hair, making it shorter so that it is not in the way half as much. Contrasting the darkness of his hair are his eyes. While the young adult adopted his mothers rich hair and dark skin, his eyes became a solid sea-blue, rimmed at the edges with flecks of greens, much like his fathers. Lan's frame is tall and lean. He's not built skinny, but wiry instead. A former circus act, the young adult is extremely flexible, and while he's not very tall, he's certainly tall enough - skinny enough too, almost as though he rarely eats, baring on the cusp of underweight and not.
As for Lan's variety in clothing... well, he has clothes that he wears to work and clothes that he wears everywhere else. A man that comes from a place where temperatures are high and shirts are not a particular favorite, Lan's normal clothing consists of things easy to slip in and out of. Thing's that aren't tight and heavy, clothing that shows skin but just enough. A fan of accessories, Lan is nearly never seen without some sort of outlandish jewelry on. Not enough to be overbearing, but just enough for a subtle understanding that he comes from somewhere so very far away. With ears pierced in both the lobes and the cartilage and gold and turquoise hanging off of them every now and again in foreign designs, Lan certainly knows how to give a show just by walking down the street. To add to that, the man has also got a navel piercing and a tattoo of black ink that curves up the prominent outline of his spine. Thin and subtle, the tattoo spirals along the skeletal curve in tribal patterns, never straying from its vertical path, and ending at the nape of his neck.

Fears: Living a lot of his life in a carnival has made Lan rather fearless, though of course he is not without his own skeletons. Afraid of narrow spaces, commitment, and alpacas, the young adult tends to keep these secrets to himself, especially the last one. Though Lan has an extreme thrill for adventure and new things, narrow spaces has been a phobia of his for a very long time. Going through tight corridors or being trapped in small spaces without being able to extend his arms all the way out does little for his happiness and a lot for his fears. As for his fear of commitment, well... Lan has never been a fan of sticking around for long. More of a hit and run, the young adult's idea of a good time is letting something last while its fun, and then having no regrets when its time to duck out the door and never return. The moment the proposal of something serious is out in the air, Lan will jump ship like he's on fire. This doesn't come without a fair amount of guilt however, but the young adult's aversion overrides everything else. At least, it does right now. As for the alpaca's... well, thats a tale for another time.
Hobbies: Apart from his habitual cooking, Lan's hobbies range from the simple and mundane to the strange and otherworldly. A former circus act, the young adult has not forgotten anything he'd learned during his days of travel, and its uncommon for him not to practice once in awhile and in between work. Acrobatics and juggling are what he's found doing most, as his passion was never to swallow a sword or contort his body into strange, otherworldly shapes. Thats not to say the man isn't flexible, because he certainly is. Though not something he exhibits to the world, Lan has a particular fondness for painting, and when he's in need of something to take his mind away from the stress of everything else, he lays out canvas and paints.
A stranger and less known hobby of Lan's is his interest in tea. Knowledgable in both how to properly prepare, brew, and serve tea from his travels, the young adult also collects. In fact, he has his own pantry for it, and don't think its small either. Lan loves tea, and there isn't a brew he won't try at least once. Apart from these things, however, Lan's hobbies are prone to... well, change. The young adult is willing to try anything once, and is always looking for something new to entertain himself with. He might take on one particular hobby for a few months, a few years, or a lifetime. He might discard it just as quickly though.

Personality: Exotic not only in his looks but his mannerisms as well, Caelan - or Lan, as some prefer - is something that seems more fit for stories and fairytales than real life. Charismatic, the young adult has a fine way with words, though he is by no means a man who uses them to hurt. Sharp and observational, there is little that he misses, though there is just as little that he chooses to comment on either. The chef has always been under the impression that what is private to someone should stay private to them. While he is one to tease, he is most certainly not one to pry. It has never been in his nature to try and worm everything out of someone, nor become overly possessive and needy for knowledge on what they are doing, when they are doing it, and why every single hour of every single day. In fact, quite the opposite. Lan is extremely commitment prone, and in turn, he does not expect commitment from others. He especially does not expect concern. The man prefers not to rely on any single person apart from himself, and has done just that for most of his life now.
Where his young dust is pensive and reflective, often thinking on things for a long time before acting them out, the guardian is extremely impulsive. His mind has always been set on "live for the moment" and that is exactly what he does. Lan enjoys movement, and sitting still for him is nearly as hard as it is for Krinn. The young adult has lived part of his life constantly on the move, and settling down has taken its toll on the part of him that is still used to seeing new things and new places every other week. That is why apart from nights spent at home and days spent at the restaurant, he is extremely fickle about where he chooses to be, and its difficult to locate him on any given afternoon off.
An extremely secretive and untrusting individual, the chef lives his life without ever giving others insight onto his past without a damned good reason. To him, its like giving strangers leverage, and he never wants anyone to have that kind of power over him. Despite Lan's outward appearance of a relaxed and charismatic individual, is not wise to view him as harmless. In fact, half of the time there is a plot in his head and it usually means nothing good for those involved. While Lan is generally well mannered and good natured, he is also a natural born manipulator, and while he wont take advantage of those for the sake of seeing them fall, he will take advantage of them if he thinks he has something to gain out of it. After living for so long in a place where to climb ranks he had to pull as many strings as he could, Lan has become nearly ignorant to any sort of shame in playing others to his tune in order to make a favorable outcome for himself.
