The sun was high and the clouds scattered as Spring tried its hardest to make its way into the city. With the odd shower here and there, the weather was slowly steering away from the frosty chill of winter and moving towards the warmth. With this change in weather it made people more likely to leave their homes and head into the market place. With that made for more venders to show themselves, giving shoppers more to choose from.

And that appeal brought two very unlikely brothers out to the market square, both equally excited to be there for two very different reasons. One wouldn't pin them as brothers upon first glance as the two looked nothing alike. The older of the two was tall and slender with shocking blond and black hair. His hair spiked out wild around very kind and excitable grey eyes. Wheres the second smaller boy was a fiery red head that had streaks of feathers through the vibrant locks. And where his brothers eyes were kind the younger boys were more calculating and calm.

"Can we please stick together this time Fin? Last time I spent the whole trip looking for you..." The older of the two asked as they walked down the street. In his pocket slept a fuzzy little squirrel like creature with a little leaf tail and funny little twig like antlers. The little creature liked to follow the teen around, much like the one his little brother had. So when he had grabbed his coat to head out Ziya wasn't surprised to see the little creature eagerly waiting for him in his pocket.

The younger of the two snorted at the remark, rolling his golden hues after heaving what sounded like an unsympathetic sigh. "Its hardly my fault you chose to waste what little time we had out on searching for me..." Fintan drawled, inspecting his nails with little interest. His own squirrel was curled up in his pocket as well but was wide awake yet obediently remaining in the pocket. His own squirrel was quite different then his brothers as it didn't have little horns but interesting green markings.

"Waste of time? Fin, you disappeared into the market full of strangers! I didn't know where you were!" Ziya exclaimed, trying his best to not shout this. Normally Ziya had no problems in keeping relaxed but sometimes he couldn't figure out his brother at all. Like all good big brothers Ziya was protective of the child, no matter how reluctant the little fire bird was.

"I knew where you were the whole time, so really there wasn't anything to worry over..." Fintan countered, now looking up at his brother. "Also if a stranger chose to attack me or whatever it is you and Ashton worry over I'm perfectly capable of taking care of myself.... I am a fire bird after all Ziya..."

Ziya sighed and rubbed his face a little, knowing that this argument wasn't going anywhere quick. The kid was stubborn and figured he had everything under control at all times. Fintan was scarily observant to the point where he could describe things about strangers that people probably shouldn't know.

"Still.... we're supposed to do these chores today together so the sooner we get whats on the list the sooner we can go get lunch okay?" Ziya said to try and reason with the little fire bird. Earning a hum and nod from the child, Ziya took that as a small victory and continued down the streets towards the market place.

Unfortunately for the rain, sun was not a good thing. Even so, the early afternoon saw Krinn out of the house and saddling up his horse, his favored mode of transportation. Caelan had left early that morning, and by the time the rain had rolled out of bed and groped blindly around the kitchen for something worth being called edible, the only thing left by the older man was a small piece of paper crammed with things to buy at the marketplace. The scribbles were nearly impossible to read as well, written diagonally and overlapping like some sort of hastily solved crossword puzzle. Someone else might see it as something ridiculous and impossible to unscramble. Krinn, however, just saw it as another one of Caelan's many improvised and somewhat unintended challenges.

Hooking a foot into the stirrup, Krinn swung himself up, tiredly raising his hands to tie his hair even as the mare ambled forward, her dapple grey head swinging back and forth pleasantly. He was still drowsy, a side-effect that the sun always left on him when it decided to come out. His body was heavy, weighed down by the lack of cold and wet in the air. This was something he was used to by now though, and shaking it to the back of his head, Krinn clicked his tongue and set off for the marketplace. It wasn't a long ride, and the scent of spices and freshly baked bread in the air woke him up as the dirt paths turned to cobblestone streets, and the sight of the town rose up on all sides, buildings of quaint and curious appearances.

A sudden rumbling from his stomach reminded him that he was still hungry. "Ahh." The dust frowned, pressing a hand to his middle as if to ease it away. He'd dressed in a simple outfit that seemed rather... out of place for the morning market, even though he'd tried his best to fit in. The half-chaps disappeared beneath breaches, and a simple dress shirt fitted to his form beneath a tight black vest. Sighing, Krinn rushed his fingers through the edges of his ponytail, fussing with it as he maneuvered through the thinning crowds, thankful that here at least, people didn't seem to care apart from the once-in-awhile scrutinizing eye. Faces of vague familiarity came from all around, and the Dust couldn't help but stop near a bakers outdoor stand, exchanging coins for a loaf of bread for home and a pastry for his guilty desires.

Starting for the actual marketplace itself, the Dust was stopped by the faint sound of banter and something pulling like static electricity in his gut. It was a foreign feeling, a familiar one as well. He hadn't felt it in so long, the ebbing of magic against his core. The taste of another similar to him somewhere in the crowd. Lifting his head, Krinn pushed himself up to stand in the saddle, looking over the mare's pricked ears to the thin crowds. There was a pang inside of his gut, a sudden nervousness and chill. What if it was a lie? What if there was no one here? What if he was still alone? The Dust shook the thoughts away with force and pushed the horse forward, maneuvering his way through the thin crowds until something familiar caught in the corner of his eye.

Lightning.

Or the color of it, at least. "Oh." Krinn said to himself, almost in disbelief. And then, "oh -- Ziya!" The sound, the name was unfamiliar and familiar all at once, bringing euphoria and anxiety all at the same time. Nudging the mare forward, he moved closer, only to realize that there was a stranger there too. One with a presence that instantly pushed uncomfortably against his core, like rain meeting fire all at once. Swinging off of the horse, Krinn hooked the reigns in his fingers and blinked over at the other teenager, his expression belatedly thinning out into an embarrassed look. "It's been awhile."

Did Ziya even remember him after all this time? And just who was the other boy?

Fintan couldn't understand his brothers frustrations with taking him to the market. This over protective nature the other seemed to have for him was getting a little dull. Yes, Ziya had more experience in navigating the market place but still how hard was it? There were adult humans hocking their wares to people who were too unintelligent to know what was a good deal and what wasn't. Then others who were selling different sorts of food and house hold necessities, the boring things. As well as there were the people who were selling stolen or faked goods, which was where Ziya had found him. He had been just pointing out to a potential victim of the scam that what they were buying had been a cheap imitation from a shop a few streets over that was just altered a little to look different. Also that if they really wanted one that they should go back the first shop since it was cheaper and better made there.

The fire bird couldn't understand what the big deal was, but Ziya kept insisting it wasn't the right place to tell someone that. Where else was he to tell someone that what they were potentially going to buy was a fake if not in front of the stall? It wasn't as if the owner of the shall was going to correct the customer; if fact he had been quite adamant that Fintan was a liar. It wasn't till Fintan pointed out how he was right and the lady put down the item before leaveing, did Ziya start to get antsy and made them leave quickly with an unneeded apology. Thus when they got home and Ziya explained what had happened; quite poorly but Fintan figured it might not have been the best time to point it out, that he wasn't to go on his own ever again.

"Why must we do these chores together? Isn't it a little counter productive as splitting up would allow us to finish getting everything sooner?" Fintan pointed out in what was probably a failed attempt in convincing his brother to let him go somewhere alone.

Ziya looked at his brother, both eyebrows lifting in a look of disbelieve. He couldn't believe the child was still trying to wriggle out of this, darn persistent little bugger. He loved him to death but it was like he was testing him; which so far in how much they knew of the little bird so far he probably was. "No Fin, we are sticking together and thats---" Ziya trailed off when he felt a familiar pang in his chest. It was a familiar twinge that told him another dust was near by and it wasn't Fintan. With having his little brother around it made it hard for him at first to tell if someone new was around. However he was starting to be able to tell the difference between the feelings and that everyone had their own littler signature. Wheres Fintans was burning and flighty, this new one was cool and crisp. It was the same feeling he got when droplets of rain fell onto his face and..

This feeling made him stop in his tracks, causing his brother to sigh in annoyance. Ziya quickly tuned him out as he felt out this feeling of the other dust, having a feeling he knew who it was. But why not? it had been so long since he;d seen him, what were the chances that this was actually him and not someone who had similar abilities. "Krinn...?" Ziya said softly as the teen approached, sliding off the mare near them. "Wow! It has been far to long!" Ziya exclaimed happily and not thinking he pulled the other into a warm, static infused hug. Letting him go, he pulled back and smiled brightly at him old friend. He had so many questions but before he could say anything Fintan finally spoke up.

"Whose the girl?" He asked, not feeling up to putting any tact into his words.

"Boy Fin.... Krinn is a boy...." Ziya corrected, shooting his little brother a none to pleased look.

The little bird took another glance at the new comer and frowned a little. The stance the other had wasn't fit for atypical girl that was near Ziya's age nor was it apparent in the way this dust dismounted their steed. Pointedly he ignored the look that his brother was throwing at him, knowing he was expected to apologize but didn't feel as though it was needed. "Ah, my mistake...." he replied flippantly.

Ziya sighed a little, knowing that was as close to an apology that they were going to get out of Fintan and shook his head a little. "Sorry Krinn..... Thats my little brother Fintan.... He's some sort of fire bird...."

The hug was like a shock to his system, straight down to his core. He'd learned long ago to expect that sort of thing from Ziya, who unlike him was a made from lightning, an essence that was both dangerous to the water-based Dust and a companion at the same time. But still, it was a wake-up call, a jolt of electricity straight through his body even as he wrapped his arms around Ziya and hugged him in return, his spine crawling with shivers from the feel of static against his skin. "Yes, hello again." He said into the others ear with a breathless laugh, pulling back as well to smile at him, something he hadn't felt himself do so freely in far too long. The presence of another Dust - two, even! - was like a breath of fresh air. He'd been away from them so long that he'd nearly forgotten the feeling itself. But with it came something painful, something belly-deep and aching in his gut.

He still needed to find another again. Someone he missed deeply, down to the bone.

But seeing Ziya again made him happier than he'd felt in awhile, and the rain laughed gently, shaking his head to ward away the stray strands of storm gray hair. "How have you been?" He asked, though his eyes drew to Fintan when the question popped out of his mouth. It was rather fascinating, really, the way the Dust's face nearly drained of all color first before brightening into a dark red flush. He should have been used to it now, the common mistake of gender, but there seemed to be no cure for the mortification now showing so vividly on his face.

"Am I really that..."
He looked at Ziya pathetically, "feminine?"

At the mention of fire bird the rain blinked, allowing the red blush to drain away. Ah, that must have been the odd tug that he'd felt. The one that wasn't just of magic and the familiarity of other Dusts but the unpleasant anticipation that threaded through his spine as well. Being a rain spirit, the teen did have an... aversion to sunlight and fire after all. "Oh." He rumbled softly, "it really has been awhile if you've gotten a new brother and everything." Glancing at Fintan, Krinn hummed under his breath, the sound of rainclouds and an approaching storm. "Hello." He said. "Its - ah - nice to meet you."

Somehow, his manners had seemingly fallen off a cliff.

But that didn't stop him from trying, right?
