I've been unemployed for FOREVER. I hate it and wish I wasn't. I was feeling like I was wasting a lot of time and I still do but last year I enrolled into an online college and I'm currently pursuing my bachelor's degree in Web Development.
Even thought I'm a year into the program I still feel like I hardly know anything about it because I have to get all of these stupid basic classes out of the way and I've only had one real coding class. emotion_donotwant
Oh yeah, my mom has her own tiny cooking business. She rents a small tiny compartment//shack/thing that's about the size of our kitchen and she makes food for people. It's on the grounds of a bar so all her customers are some drunkies. I go help her out on rare occasion, (so far only once but 3 times this week I'll be helping since she's going to a pool tournament out of state and needs me to take over).

Full-time college student riding it out on student loans and insignificant scholarship. But I'm more of a full-time half-asser and procrastinator. Going onto Junior year now, but I'll probably be a fifth-year senior and I'm changing my major (schools in my state don't offer it) from Russian and Slavic studies to either Sociology or Social Work. Looking to get a part time job soon since I haven't worked since Junior year in high school and need more money and hate mooching off my parents all of the time (since I'm sucking their pay checks dry every month).
I feel like the first year of any degree program, be it online or in the classroom, is just busy-work that is barely applicable at all.
Your mom's business sounds nice, though. Owning and running your own small business like that seems like it would be very fulfilling and enjoyable, but at the same time extremely stressful. Bet she has lots of stories about her clientele, drunks are lovely people.

It is pretty nice. I get to make my own food for free ( even though everything there is deep fried almost), and do whatever I want. I take my laptop with me and listen to Pandora while waiting on people to order and work on my homework. x3

That sounds nice. I also wouldn't mind working in a bakery, but we don't even really have one of those here. sad

I just quit as a fashion designer, but I am about to start working as an in-home caregiver to a sick woman I know while I start school to be a veterinary assistant.
