What does your soquili leave as an offering for the wishing star? Short IC Response: The star had come again. The small prarie dog sighed. Every time it came her bonded went with such hope to see it. Hoping for the blessing of a child for his mate, his princess, the light of his life. Others times he went with a heavy heart. His first family had been slaughtered while he had been gone. His first mate and two foals, still in baskets, gone. But some small part of him, deep in his heart, believed that perhaps one of the foals had somehow survived.

But every time the star had come and gone, his hope slowly dwindled, and left his eyes, leaving behind a pain that was soul deep. It hurt the familiar to see her bonded so depressed.

This time, when Laures had seen the star, he turned away. This time he would not go. He could not bear to have what little hope he had left be destroyed if his wish went unanswered yet again. He could not go. It was time for him to let go of foolish wishes. After all, he had his princess. And one day they would have a family of their own. They didn't need some star to make that happen.

Waiting until Laures and Bailey were asleep, Solas watched, biding her time. Her bonded would not go to the star and make the wish that was on his heart, not this time. But she would. But first she needed to gather a gift to leave the star.

She scurried about the small forest clearing that they claimed as home and gathered some strands of hair, both Laures and Bailey's certain that she wouldn't mind -especially if it was to make him happy again- and quickly made a small braid. Then, saying 'sorry' under her breath she collected a few of the loose scales near the base of his wings.

Her offering gathered, she made her way to the star rock and placed it reverently down.

'My foolish flutt'r won' be back to make his wish. Thin's its too selfish. But it tears 'im apart. He knows one o' his foals survived. He misses 'em somethin' terrible.' She took a deep breath and continued. ' An' his princess. She worries 'bout him. I' would prolly mean a lot t' her if his wish came true.' A tear rolled down her cheek and landed on her offering.

'Please. I jus' want to see 'im smile again.'

Anon was older now, and likely felt older than he truly was. The once proud care-free look he had, was now lackluster and worn. Time had not been kind to the stallion. He remembered when he first found the Kawani lands with his traveling partner, Kaim. Anon was young when he left his family, a small family that was torn between his a*****e kalona father, and his common... plain mother. He had a brother once, that he always had looked up to. He was just like his father, but only in looks.

Anon ran away from his broken home, one night in a fit of rage and tears after dealing with his abusive father and his mother who wouldnt defend herself. He soon hitched up with a stallion who was around the same age, but that was traveling to learn more of the world. Anon replaced his brother with Kaim, and never looked back.

Run as he would, Anon would never escape his own fate, and the older he got, the more he turned into his father. The first girl he met, he fell hard for. He mated with her, and soon she left him. His daughter from that encounter... his sons... he had no idea where they were. As the stallion stood on the hillside in the dark only lit by the dim stars, he tensed. Recalling these things from the past hurt more than he would like to admit. And for so long he always moved forward, trying to outrun the failure, the pain. his teeth grit and he continued his thoughts, recalling all of the memories. It was as if it were a silent prayer. His thoughts flashed to his loss, and how when he went to find Kaim again, the stinging feeling when he realized Kaim had found his own mate, and Anon was no longer 'needed'. Not that Kaim and he had ever talked about this, he just knew he would be in the way... that he was already replaced. Besides, they seemed happy... and his ego wouldnt let him admit his failure with his first love.

Time passed, and he met another along the way, she was just a fling.. he didnt even know her name. It was a random, drunken night, and all he remembered was pink.

The third...he cracked a cold smirk as his eyes closed behind his forelock. His third was a b***h. Kaim's daughter, it was ironic. Maybe it was to replace the friend who replaced his brother so long ago. She was twisted, lured him in, then stomped all over his heart and left him hanging. Why did she do it? Because it was fun.

Anon was left bitter, old and alone. Something he ran away from, or tried to. His head bowed as he finally spoke to the star others had spoken of that granted wishes.

"Im sorry. Forgive me. I have wasted my life, and I know I dont deserve a second chance... but I would like to see my brother please, if only once before Im gone."

His words trailed off, leaving a lump in his throat and he swallowed hard. He felt like a fool, an idiot for talking to himself. He didnt really expect an answer, he knew he didnt deserve one, but he didnt want to die alone. Not without saying he was sorry. Not without saying the goodbye he should have said so long ago.

(( Sorry if its long, and kind of scattered. I didnt want to make it horribly long with his entire story. This story isnt entirely made up, a lot of this did happen. Anon was always my favorite horse, even over Requiem. Sadly, his life never went as planned and this stems from my own regrets Ive had for him. Ive wanted to re-custom him, or make him a twin, idk, I wanted to save him somehow, but I havent figured out quite how to do that yet. Maybe I can find a redemption here for him. /end stupid sappy story))

She took a deep breath, before lowering her eyes somewhat toward the ground, her foot scuffing against the ground. "I know I am but one person, and one person who longs for many things. I'm not much, really. I'm just a young girl in need of a friend to stay with me for all of our days. I hope that you will grant my wish, great star, for I would love to have the friend that I have always wanted." She smiled some, looking back up, before placing a small case down onto the ground, and taking a step back. "Accept my gift, star, and please, bring me a friend."

Vesia peers at his brother, disbelief evident on his face.

"What? You want her HERE?! Are you serious? Do you REMEMBER how her and Drith got along? They were enemies! I'm still surprised they didn't rip each other's heads off before Drith left. I swear, remember that time when -"

"-Yes I remember that time! I remember all those times! I remember her growing up! I remember her following us along like a lil puppy. And we left her Vesia! We left her behind. We choose Drith over her..." Kezia's voice trails off, sadness choking him off at the end. His usually perky expression replaced with a look of pain. Ears down, head lowered, his tormented feelings evident. Such heartfelt emotion, so plainly displayed was not of the norm for the trickster brothers, and immediately Vesia knew the seriousness of the situation. His thoughts raced through layers upon layers of memories, swirling around his younger vibrant sister.

“Yes...You’re right...let’s convince Drith to allow us to go find her.” A slow answer, as Vesia ponders the stuation through.

Kezia jerks his head up. “No.”

“No?”

“No.” Kezia affirms. “We can’t tell Drith. You said it earlier, they HATE each other. You think she’ll be happy with lil puppy back? Not a chance. We need to do this without her knowing....and that means: give me your fetlock.” Kezia trots over to his brother, ignoring Vesia’s quizzical look and chomps off a few hairs from his front and back fetlocks. Holding the hair in his mouth he gestures at his brother to do the same for him. Once he has the four different color strands he lays them on a nearby rock and gets to work, leaving his brother utterly confused.

Once finished, Kezia holds up his prize. A braid.

“It took you that long for that?” Vesia raises an eyebrow, a smirk on his face. “Is it magical? Will a genie grant us a wish if you light it on fire and inhale the smoke? Will a fairy godmother now appear and bring lil puppy with her?”

Kezia doesn’t bother with a reply. But lays down the braid. “One can only hope.” He winks at his brother and trots off, back to the herd and his full time job of causing mischief.

Vesia watches his brother go, still amused, before glancing back at the lonesome braid. Shrugging he follows his brother, unaware of the bright star overhead.

"Wishing Star, I was wrongly accused of trampling someone's berry bush as well as being mistaken for 'a seemingly beautiful but strong-looking and trouble-making mare' of all things. This berry bush branch was something that happened to be thrown at me as I was being accused and a thought I've used to quiet my anger is that its berries are still unscathed and edible. Then I was asked if the offender was a family member or someone I knew that was disguised as me if the offense was really not committed by myself. So here I am offering the branch to you. I wish to confront this individual and granted that I am in fact related to this mare and that this mess wasn't a misunderstanding, I shall endeavor to advise her to seriously consider turning over a new leaf while voicing my annoyance about the incident."
