I'm currently Undeclared and a Sophmore in the University I'm at. I have to declare a major soon >< otherwise I can't get classes for next year. I have been just doing GEs for the past couple of years and I still don't know what to do. crying So I wanted to know what you guys thought! I shall list you the majors I have interest in and if you are majoring in one of these I would definitely interested in what you have to say about it! Like How hard, time consuming, fun, interesting it is. What classes do you have to take? What do you learn and what not :3 Also if anyone has any good online major/career placement tests that would be good and helpful too! ^^ As well as any other tips on finding a major!
Thanks!
Here's what I'm interested in! Aerospace Engineering Business Administration Computer Science Computer Engineering Criminal Justice Engineering Hospitality and Tourism Management International Business International Security and Conflict Resolution Japanese Mechanical Engineering Music Management Marketing Philosophy Public Administration Sociology Television, Film and New Media Production Theatre Arts
If there is something that's not listed here that you're in tell me about it! Some of these I had no idea about until someone told me about it and it sounded cool :3
Thanks for your help!

Honestly, just because a major sounds "fun" and "interesting" doesn't mean it will be to you.
You need to narrow down this list and do your research because I have no idea what your college requires. Ask a student of a major what it's like, ask a professor who teaches a course that is required of the major what the workload is like. Google your majors and look at the job description.
Having a variety of choses can be bad because you can't decide on just one without looking at the benefit of another. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time (or want to do)? Is it programming? Traveling? Acting? Learning a new language? What do you get the most enjoyment out of is the question and how will it benefit you in the future? I know it's hard, but you really have to look realistically at this decision.

That's quite the list you got there. I agree with Frezeal 100%.
Personally I chose what I wanted to major in based on what I love. I love kids, and compared to a majority of the families these days I had an excellent childhood. I have happily married parents, raised in the Christian faith, put into a private school, ect. while no family is perfect I have not been faced with a lot of the challenges that children and teens today are facing, drug, alcohol, and sexual abuse, divorced parents, the list goes on.
Therefore I guess you could say I want to and feel like I "owe" it to my community to get into Child Protective Services and put these children in safer, better, and loving homes.
Yeah it may be cool to be an Aerospace Engineer, but is it something you can see your self doing for the rest of your life? Or does it just sound like a fun hobby for a little bit?
Also you should really research these. My brother and dad are total math freaks. They do it very well and can do math quickly. Therefore my dad is a Software Engineer. It involves a ton of math, he does his job very well and enjoys it. Most of the time ;P
But what I mean by that is if you do poorly in math then maybe engineering isn't were you belong. If you can play the piano or trumpet like a boss and enjoy it then maybe you should look into music and going pro. Just take the time to sit down, research, pray, and think about it.

I've generally looked at these :< and it's really hard to tell if that's what you want to do just by the descriptions. I mean it all sounds interesting but I honestly don't know if it's really really for me ._. Only classes I've taken from this list are Computer Science, Japanese, Film, Sociology, Philosphy and Music. ( I want to take an engineering class, maybe next semester) I like them all sad I guess I'll probably focus on those ones and declare one of them and see how what ever I choose works and how the engineering class works. >< ( I know in engineering you need to be good at math and I'm pretty good and prefer it over writing for sure so I shouldn't have much of a problem)

Thats one long list. You definitely have to narrow your options more. Think practicality too, you have a wide range of interests it seems, but career-wise, what do you think would best fit for you? Ex: if you are interested in Aerospace Engineering, then a major in Theatre Arts probably wont help much there. What interests you most, to the point where you might consider it a good life-long career for you? This is how I managed my huge list of possible majors. Pick something that interests you and would be helpful for you to know in the future. Remember, if you pick something like engineering, you can always take a class in theatre (alongside, or later) and just not major in it.

um....hm...well here's how i figured out my major. in high school they offered two psychology classes and i took both of them my senior year and loved them, even the technical stuff. on tv i watched all the real life criminal shows that went over serial killers but was mor interested in why they did those things and how they got to that point. in my freshman year i took 101 psychology and looked at the other classes and stayed interested.
so if there's soemthing that you absolutely love out of that list, not just like a lot, then i would suggest going for that. and of course you can duel major in things too. say...go for criminal justice as a major and sociology(just an example, not saying you have to go with that). it can actually be helpful, you need "X" amount of credits and if you duel major, the classes of one will cound as electives for the other. look at your school catalogue for classes in the majors your interested in too. sometimes just looking at the types of classes you'll have to take by reading the little blerbs about them can turn you away from some and catch your attentionw ith others.
....i have no idea if that helped at all but i hope it did a little bit!
