Considering they knew where the baby phoenix's nest was and its parents were still alive, one might say that technically a kidnapping occurred at the end of this episode. rofl

The same thought occurred to me...but I guess it's twilight's fault, as she did teleport them back to ponyville before spike could return the egg...and it's not like she can be asked to teleport them back so he can return it....that's asking too much.

Wish they wouldn't use lame as a derogatory term. THAT'S SO LAME is an ableist remark that I'd rather not have to hear from future generations and TV'd be best if they didn't reinforce negative societal habits.

No, I do. I just don't see WHY. Especially considering that I have yet to hear anyone ever refer to some one who is disabled in such a way that that could not/have difficulty walking as "lame". I know the fact that no one uses the word to refer to humans with issues walking anymore means jack s**t to you, I just don't see why.

For the record, I've ALWAYS understood where you were coming from, I just usually don't agree with you or your reasons on issues like this.

Except it still is used. It's just as bad as that's so gay. It's unacceptable. But it does have historical precedent, so I suppose it makes it better. Idiot, dumb, moron, imbecile all have roots in describing differently abled populations. All have been re-appropriated. If there's one group it's always safe to insult in the US, it's those who aren't traditionally abled.

I'm inclined to believe that if you actually saw where I was coming from, you'd be fain to agree with me.

First of all, intentionally insulting someone who is disabled has been taboo in the states for a long while now.

Secondly, I figured that's what you thought, but realize that people given the exact same information as you can reach different conclusions. In other words, just because I understand your argument and from whence it stems, doesn't mean I have to agree with it.

You've obviously never been in special ed.

I know that people can reach different conclusions, yadda yadda, but if you knew where I was coming from, and why I think what I do, it'd be hard to rectify that against personal belief. Of course, it's impossible to inspect things within a vacuum, so it's an impossible request.

Actually I have, I have ADD...like bad, so yeah I spent most of my middle school, and half of my high school careers in special ed classes. Second of all, high schoolers are psychopaths. Their actions do not reflect upon what is or is not socially acceptable in society in general. Maybe it was just the school I went to (which would be a surprise) but making fun of disabled students was still taboo among both staff and students. Disabled teens in that school were actually really well integrated, the only thing that perhaps was a sign they they were treated differently was that everyone was a bit over protective of them or perhaps it would be better to say..over sensitive around them. Which is fine, but even then they never got mad over what people said unless it was A) intended to be offensive or B) blatantly ignorant.

But yes, there were the odd bullies who enjoyed picking on people who were different. I myself was an outcast and called names like retard and the like for being in special ed classes (which I always found HILARIOUS because while these same guys were struggling with algebra I was taking FST >.<) And even with all that and having such insults thrown my way, the word it's self doesn't offend me unless it was intended to be offensive.
