Well I have issues sleeping and have constant nightmares I cant seem to have enought sleep even if I sleep for hours on end (which happens rarely) So I was wondering is this normal or should I just try really hard to change my sleeping pattern and would this help get rid of my nightmares or is that something from my own mind that I am not seeing? I would like to know so please help me out a bit

There are several ways to possibly solve this problem.

-Try to get rid of the nightmares
Are you troubled by daily life, do you watch alot of scary movies/games? Do you think about dying/killing often? These things can cause nightmares.
- keep a handheld game next to you when you sleep.
I suggest buying Tetris on your phone( if you have one), it's relaxing and non-violent

- Learn to run off of little sleep.
If these seep problems continue, maybe you should just accept it and try various things to keep yourself awake.
- nap during the day.
Te reduce the need for sleep at night.

Ok, just see what works best. Oh might I also suggest listening to music while you're asleep? Sound does have an impact on dreams.

good idea, might I suggest some instrumentals?
-Song of Healing
-Song of Storms
-Aquatic Ambience
-Arid Sands (night)
Or would you prefer lyrics?
-Day and night by Kid Cudi
-So Cold by Breaking Benjamin
-Shadow of the Day by Linkin Park.

I'm sure you have your own tastes but these are just some I like.

When I was 14, I suffered a series of psychologically traumatic nightmares, so I know how you're feeling. Apparently though, it isn't too irregular to get bad nightmares when you're about that age, I just got 'em worse than most. Apparently, this is to do with your mind changing and making a different coating for your brain neurons, or somesuch. I forget the whole thing. I don't know how old you are, but it might be that, in which case the only thing to do is wait it out.

Going along with what Nymph Ivy said in her first post, in that period of time (about two years) I started having about 4 and a half hours of sleep a night, and took some caffeine pills in the morning to help perk me up (I can't nap, so I was very very low on sleep, but that might help you) and that helped sometimes.

If you're still worried about how little you're sleeping but the nightmares have gone and you feel safe to sleep through the night, try drinking a cup of warm milk before you go to bed, or see if you can find any mild over-the-counter sleeping pills. If you can't, consider going and getting some prescribed.

Yeah, the music really helps me too. I have a playlist of orchestral and classical music on my ipod and some soothing acoustic songs that tend to give me strange but cheerful dreams. A good choice of lyric-less music would be some songs from the DURARARA! soundtrack like sought-after extraordinary, green memories, or some Japanese titled ones from the second volume. Fredrick Chopin has some good classical songs too like Nocturne. hope this helps.
