Curling her tail delicately beneath her body she glanced around warily, hoping that no one would look upon her horns of ice and fangs only to decide she were a monster.
Hex looked around eyes glowing eerily green in the night as he crept out for a walk in the park.
Night had always been Glasere's favorite time, mainly because the sun caused her great discomfort if she were to spend time out in it. Once she determined there was no one around to frighten she righted her posture and began to walk slowly and tentatively around the park.
His gaze wandered as he stretched out his glowing green wings and gave them a few heafty flaps. He wasn't often one for flying where he wanted to go, prefering to just walk instead but still he needed to flap them every now and then, stretch them out feel a bit of air under them.
As he walk progressed she began to notice something eerily glowing in the distance, it began to move rapidly and she dove into the bushes. It wasn't as though she were frightened, but more so worried about doing the frightening. Many she had encountered saw her as a predator and would flee on sight, her adopted son was all she had, the only one who kept her from loneliness. Her cool blue eyes peered out from under the shrub, watching the progress of the strange glow through the night.
The rustling of a bush in the distance caught his attention. Ears perking, she quietly made his way towards the sound. "Must have been a bunny.." He spoke more to himself than anyone. His voice was calm, smooth and masculine with that warm tone to it. "Even you bunnies scatter at the sight of my glow." He frowned some. "Not everything glowing is out to eat them.. honestly."
In a moments notice she thought she had been spotted as the glow, turning to an unusual looking Noodle, approached her. Crumpling her body in a ball she began to back up as he approached, not noticing how the branches of the tree on her back were becoming tangled with the smaller branches of the bush. She let out a small, involuntary yip when she found she could no longer back up or move forward. With that sound her body froze, she knew she would be found out now.
He had been about to turn, to move on in his walk when he heard an audible yip from the bush. Leaning her head in, he peered inside, the glow of his eyes serving as a light as he looked. "Hello? Some one in there? Are you hurt?"
Her breath caught as a green glow lit her hiding spot and she lowered her small shoulders in defeat. She had been found, it wouldn't be long now before this one would turn and run. Even so, she couldn't help but to sense something within his voice, something calming yet...laced with more. Clearing her throat she responded gently. "I am in here." She sighed gently. "I am not hurt, just stuck on these...uh..branches."
Hex offered a small smile and nodded. "Ah, I see.. Allow me to help." He moved around to get a better angle and started to pull at branched not realizing that some of them were attached to her. He was gently with this though, not just tugging like some big galoot.
So far so good, he hadn't seen anything evidence only by the fact he had yet to run. Her view of him was obstructed but she could tell there was something different about him, just like there was something different about herself. She was just cocking her head to look more closely when he moved away. "Well-" She started but was shocked to feel some of the branches of her tree being tugged on. It wasn't hard enough to cause her pain but she certainly wasn't used to others pulling on them. Even so, she moved with the jerking and felt herself becoming less and less tangled. "Almost there." She managed.
Nodding, he continued to tugg and detable branches. "Just let me know when you're free enough to get out of the bush..." He offered another smile. "I'm not hurting you am I?"
She was just about loose, that is when the real problem would begin. He would be able to look over her in all her ferocious glory, but, at least she would be out of the bush. She wiggled here and there, removing herself from the small grabby branches. "No, in fact, you are quite kind to stop and help a stranger." She said amidst all of the branches shivering. Arching her back she gave her tree one big pull and ended up popping backwards and bumping into her savior.
As she bumped into him, He offered yet another smile. "Think nothing of it. It's only what any other decent fox would do." He helped to dust her off and get her to her feet. "You ok?" That was when he was able to take in the full view of her. She was different like him.. like some of the other members of his family who had glowing parts to them.
He hadn't gotten upset at her clumsiness, another good sign for right now. She had learned to take what she could get, being from the far mountains she didn't have much else. Her tail swished this way and that as she assessed her branches to be sure they were all healthy and in tact. "I am lucky that a decent fox was passing by!" She said, still distracted by her musings. When she turned her eyes on him she smiled, forgetting the two big fangs poking out from her lips. "I am thanks to you!" It was then that she remembered what she looked like to others. Sitting back on her haunches she looked at the ground and waited for him to scamper away. Even so, she could not keep her blue eyes from wandering up every now and then to gaze at the beautiful glow he was emitting. It was unlike anything she had ever come across before.
Hex Smiled in return but it son faded to see her look so demure, like she expected the worst of him some how. "I didn't mean to offent.. I just don't see many who are different like myself. It was a bit refreshing lot to see some one flee for fear that the glowing hulk fould eat them or worse..."
She was surprised to find he was still speaking to her and soon lifted her head. "You didn't offend me!" She corrected enthusiastically. She had to keep her tail from wagging and giving away her pleasure at his company. "I was afriad you would flee upon seeing me!" She gave a rather tense giggle at the misunderstanding. Here she was worried about him finding her frightening, and he was doing the same thing! "I find you rather...well stunning to be honest. Your glow is so, so, wondrous." She commented happily.
Hex let out yet another chuckle and scratched the back of his head some. " Nah.. I try not to judge before I know some one... but it's good to know you're not offended." His orange tail curled around his paws as he took a seat and folded his wings against his sides. "I'm glad you think so.. not many find it so great.. Most just walk past or mutter horrible things before running away.."
After he was seated she followed suit, careful not to slam her branches into the hard ground as she sat. Checking her position she turned her attention back on him with a smile. "An honorable trait indeed, not many think of such a thing. Not at all." She took the opportunity to look over him more fully, taking in the full scope of what he was talking about. "They say the same of my, oddities. It is funny that they may look upon the glowing moon without scrutiny but they speak harshly of you."
Hex chuckled and nodded. "So terribly true.. I'm Hex Pardus by the way." He extended his paw out in greeting to her. "Though I can't really see why they'd think so illy of you.. I think your fangs are just dandy and that tree.. Atleast you carry your own shade in the heat of the year no?"
She bowed her head pleasantly as he stated his name. "I am Glasere." She responded simply, extending her own paw out to meet his she smiled. "I believe it is because I resemble a predator of some kind. Though I am glad my fangs do not frighten you." She cocked her head and laughed gently at his comment. "I never thought of that, but if I did venture into the sun it may provide me with a little."
He shook her paw firmly though not with enough pressure to hurt her. "Perhaps.. But I have honnestly yet to see any predators here in this town.. Maybe a few less than pleasent foxes.. but aside from that.... nothing to resemble a predetor..."
She stifled a laugh as her paw was being shaken, she hadn't had such a formal greeting ever in her life. Up in the mountains she once called home they would always just rub up against one another in a fond hello. "Maybe that is what throws them, they are not used to seeing something that looks like me...or you for that matter." She added as an after thought. "I only hope one day they will be more accepting of things they do not understand."
He let out a burst of laughter. "You'd think they'd me use to all of us of the pardus line most come to some of us for potions and what not ." He shook his head some. " I say if they're going to change they will do it some day but till then.. I try not to pay them or their remarks much mind... not that I'm usually awake long enough to hear them out..." He grinned an almost cheeky grin. "You see.. Some of the pardus line are.... gifted so to say.."
