NICKNAME : Robert actually really dislikes nicknames, so if anyone refers to him as Rob, Robbie, Bob, etc., they're probably doing it to annoy him. Everyone who is on good terms with him just calls him Robert.

STARTING STAGE : Stage Two
DESIRED JOB LOCATION: Mistletoe Inn
JOB TYPE:
Starter Job: Cook. As one of the apprentice chefs at the Inn, Robert will be preparing meals under the supervision of the established chef. He will follow directions and do his best to work quickly in a fast-paced environment, sometimes even taking meals out to the customers if it gets busy enough or it's slow enough that they've called off the waitress. He doesn't have a lot of freedom for experimenting with the dishes at this stage, nor much input on the menu, and usually does not work alone.
Secured Job: Chef. Having been promoted and come into his own, Robert will still be preparing meals, but he won't need to be supervised by another chef. He will have more input on the recipes themselves, able to implement changes or put together new dishes all together for the customers. While he won't be able to make drastic changes to the menu, he will be able to recommend them to the owner of the Inn. He will be able to run shifts by himself except in the case where they're very busy.
BRIEF HISTORY: An only child, Robert was raised by a slightly older-than-the-norm couple in a small town. He was often in playgroups and encouraged to socialize with neighbor kids, and because he was never wanting for interaction, he grew to depend on it greatly. His parents were also very focused on academics, and Robert was encouraged to read and be responsible from a very young age. He had chores, though most of them centered around the kitchen and learning to take care of it, as his parents wanted him to be able to support himself when he moved out.
Though he dated on and off through and after high school, Robert has yet to have a very serious relationship. Because he knew everyone too well in the town he grew up in, he realized that he wasn't going to find what he was looking for personally or professionally there, and decided that a move was in order. With the support of his parents, he applied for a job at the Mistletoe Inn in Sunny Haven. He was very pleased to get an interview and, once he arrived, be given a position as an apprentice chef.
He is settling in at the Inn right now, and looks forward to establishing himself in the community and coming to know all of its inhabitants, as well as carve a life out for himself. Though he's not rushing into anything, he would eventually like to have a little house and a couple of dogs, and is already planning ahead for his long term settlement.

HAIR STYLE : Curly and short; Robert keeps his hair fairly trim and tidy, parting it over his left eye and typically just throwing some gel in it to keep it from frizzing up all over the place.
HAIR COLOR : Dense, dark brown.
EYE COLOR : Blue/gray -- it's a bit difficult to tell what color his eyes actually are, because they're not all that remarkable. They definitely tend a little more toward blue than not, though.
SKIN COLOR AND TONE : Rosy-pale according to this chart.
BODY TYPE : Tall, thin, and lanky. The most exercise Robert gets is from his daily walks, and that's fairly obvious; he's slender, but certainly not built. If you poke his stomach, it's definitely got some give. Sorry ladies -- no secret six-pack hiding underneath the nerd gear here.
HEIGHT: 6'2"
OTHER FEATURES : Robert's appearance is remarkable because it is so unremarkable. He has the sort of face you could have sworn you've seen before even if you've never met him -- he can't count how many times he's been told, "Hey, you look just like..." insert my friend/my cousin/my sister's boyfriend/etc.
CLOTHES : Robert is actually a very fashion-conscious man. Being as his features are so unremarkable, he usually takes great pains to dress in a nice and trendy fashion, making an impression with how well put-together he is rather than trying to rely on his God-given looks.
He is very fond of scarves. Usually, he'll be wearing jeans or slacks, a nice button-down shirt, a jacket and a scarf. In the summertime, he loses the jacket and the scarf, but jazzes up his ensemble with ties.

PERSONALITY: THE VIRTUES :
Sociable: Robert is very well-suited to small town living because, well, he just likes people. He's confident enough in himself that he has no qualms approaching a perfect stranger for a little bit of light-hearted conversation, and never lacks for entertainment at holiday parties and festivals. Though he understands that there's a need for personal space and quiet time, and he requires both himself, he sees no reason to spend all his time brooding on cliffs like some Bronte hero. If he's out taking a walk, he'll fall in step with someone doing the same and strike up a conversation. His manners are easy and laid-back enough that he generally doesn't come across as threatening; he has the sort of personality that allows him to interact peacefully with most types of people.
Refined: No one will ever have to worry about Robert belting out off-color jokes at the local bar and scandalizing all the women. He's a very classy, socially conscious man, and he takes great care to be appropriate and respectful of the people around him. There's a certain sheen of polish and advantage to his general person that makes him socially appropriate in most situations. He has just enough humility (and self-preservation) to adjust his behavior according to the situation, however, so that he's not acting too hoity-toity and making people uncomfortable; Robert is generally good at reading people and atmospheres and adjusting accordingly.
Patient: Nothing good was ever accomplished by rushing through it -- unless, of course, you're running a race. Robert firmly believes that good thing comes to those who wait, and he can wait a long, long time for something that he feels is worthwhile. He rarely loses his temper or patience, which makes him excellent with children and adults alike (and how similar the two often are when upset, anyhow). This does mean that it often takes him longer to get what he's after than it does other people, but he takes greater satisfaction in the end result knowing that he put careful thought and precision into what he was doing, whether that's accomplishing a task or wooing a person.
PERSONALITY: THE FLAW :
Stubborn: It isn't just that Robert will dig his feet in about an idea -- he will really dig his feet in about an idea. Once he's decided on the way something is (or the way it has to be) he cements it so firmly into his mind that it would take a team of wild horses to get him to compromise or change his mind. This is especially troublesome when he's made assumptions about someone's behavior; he can be very pessimistic and it takes a lot of doing to get him to change his mind about someone once he's gone and made it up. He also gets rather testy when people heckle him to be more flexible -- it's one of the rare ways to get his temper up.
Holds Grudges: If you wrong him or someone he cares for, Robert's not likely to forget it. In fact, he will probably never forget it, even if you're lucky enough to have him eventually forgive you. While he isn't vindictive and won't attempt to exact revenge, he will socially snub anyone that he's presently holding a grudge against. Whereas Robert is warm and friendly to most everyone he meets, if he has a problem with you, you'll know, and fast. He will actively discourage other people from becoming close with someone that he's holding a grudge against, and probably won't invite them to parties if he has any say in it.
Robert Knows Best: Robert only meddles because he likes you, you know -- but that doesn't make it any less obnoxious. Though his intentions are (mostly) good, he pokes his nose in other people's business and tries to steer them in the direction that he thinks is most appropriate for them. Whether this is nudging about a job, or introducing two single people that he thinks would absolutely hit it off, or making suggestions on the decor of their house... Chances are, Robert's got something to say that could improve the quality of your life, and if he likes you, he's going to suggest it. Cheerfully. Whether you like it or not. And he'll probably get offended if you don't like it.
YOUR FEARS AND WEAKNESS :
Being Alone: Most people don't like the idea of being alone. That's normal. But for Robert, it will actually be seriously detrimental to his health; he is a very sociable man and he needs to be around others. He needs a small-town atmosphere where he knows faces and names and can interact with people on a daily basis, because it keeps him happy and makes him feel established and important. If he gets lost in the anonymity of the city or doesn't make friends, he will become very sullen and unhappy, and probably get sick.
Big Changes: Unless he's the one picking and choosing them, Robert really hates change on a grand scale. It makes him nervous and unhappy, not to mention pressured. He likes life to move along at a steady pace and not alter much in the day-to-day; aside from being well and truly alone, having his world turned upside down at a moment's notice is probably his greatest fear.
Heights: It's not crippling, but Robert is afraid of heights and he will do his damndest to keep his feet firmly on the ground. If you can get him to climb somewhere high, he'll probably linger far back away from the edge and not really enjoy himself -- totally defeating the purpose of, say, going to the top of a lighthouse for the view. He gets dizzy when he looks down from too great a height, and he just plain does not like them.
LIKES :
Robert very much enjoys reading and has an extensive personal library. Though he favors fiction (and romance especially!) he will read most anything if you put it in his hands. He is particularly fond of settling down with a book after a delicious meal... which he probably cooked himself, because Robert also loves to cook. He isn't the sort of chef who sticks rigidly to recipes, however; he experiments often, and while sometimes it blows up in his face, he often has pleasant results from his efforts. It isn't uncommon at all, especially during warm months, for him to be cooking with the windows open, music filtering outside, and a glass of wine at his side while he enjoys the weather.
DISLIKES :
If there's one thing Robert really can't stand, it's messy, disorganized, unappealing clutter. He has a good eye for aesthetics and expects his living and working spaces to be both clean and pretty, and when they aren't, he gets grumpy pretty fast. As a great lover of books and quiet, he also dislikes television, mostly because he finds it to be mindless entertainment and usually too flashy and loud by half. He'll choose a book over its movie counterpart any day of the week.
FAVORITE ANIMAL: Dogs; specifically, he loves border collies.
FAVORITE COLOR: Dark purple. He likes jewel tones in general, though.
SEXUALITY : Pomosexual. Robert doesn't believe in labels, especially when considering that society is so ridiculous about them. He will date women or men, and quickly grew tired of the questions -- are you straight? are you gay? you're dating x, so you must be x, right? -- and has just stopped even attempting to label himself. He is attracted to people, and has decided that his sexuality doesn't need, or fit, any specific label.
