No pics yet, because the ones he sent to my phone won't go to my email.. . But anyway, it's a puppy at 5 weeks old, and already looks months old. Apparently, it's bred with a lab/husky mix and either..get this. A Great Dane, or a bull mastiff. Dear God. I'm away now, so I haven't seen it, but I know it's going to be huge... edit pics now. he's seven weeks now. Dad told me that he didn't want the dog until it was eight weeks but the person didn't give him any other choice so that's how he ended up with it so early. next to my adult black lab/chow huuuuge paws he walks really funny, like his feet are too big

I love some of the giant breeds but the shorter lifespans make me sad. If I went with one however it would probably be a Leonberger. I really enjoy the temperament of a well bred one.

I know. An ex of mine had a pair of Irish Wolf Hounds. I fell in love with them (quite possibly harder than I fell for HIM) but the 6 year expected life span made me want to BAWL! That means those 2 darlings are probably dead now. That would be so hard. You'd get SO attached to those amazing dogs, and then they'd be gone. I remember when he rescued them. We had to go car shopping because he could only take one to the vet at a time in his tiny little sports car. Hee hee!

I love big dogs. Too big is too much sometimes though.
And holy cow, 5 weeks?! I though puppies were supposed to stay with mom until 6 weeks at the earliest, 8 weeks at the ideal...

I though puppies were supposed to stay with mom until 6 weeks at the earliest, 8 weeks at the ideal... 8 weeks at least for big dogs, and 12 weeks is preferred for small dogs, whomever they got the 5 week puppy from is a BYB, and it can cause trouble for the new owners of the puppies, as they need to be with their mother and sibling longer to learn behaviors.

I wasn't sure what the age was that they could be taken away from the mom was. But there's nothing we can really do about it now.
