Much like they had tried to do so long ago with Christmas, Scarentines was one of those holidays that Halloweentowners had adopted, first with hesitation, then with possibly-misguided gusto. With each passing year, the enthusiasm of the town-turned-city’s citizens grew, decorations of blood red and ghostly white littering the buildings and streets, until mutilated hearts and severed lips adorned every spiked post of every iron gate. And of them all, none were more enthusiastic than the students of Amityville Academy. Each year, the decorations and festivities were more horrifically beautiful than the last, outdoing their predecessors, until tears filled the majority of the student’s eyes (although whether they were tears of joy or of heartbreak, that remained to be seen – Scarentines was, after all, a very tragic holiday.)

This year’s Student Council would not disappoint – it was perfect.

On that eve, it seemed that the brilliant orange sun had shone just a little brighter during the day as if anticipating the sunset’s festivities, leaving the school to bask in the rich saffron hue of growing twilight. While the sun had almost completely set, fingertips of blood still licked the night sky, caressing the rich wine color which was fading to darkness. With the fading of the light came the chill of the crisp, autumn evening, and the slightest of breezes rustled through the dead leaves of the forest behind the school, the sound like the dry crackle of a crone. But while nightfall was approaching, by no means was the school dark. From each of the dorms, students could see the flicker of warm lights illuminating the entrance to the school, beckoning them closer like a gentle, inviting flame. A closer look would reveal paper lanterns encompassing the lights, the soft yellow glow gently illuminating the doorway, washing over the crackled dead grass nearby. Somehow, the black ivy tangled in the crumbling brick framing the large oak door had suddenly blossomed in the span of a few hours, the lights showing off the brilliant burgundy color.

Inside, the auditorium had been transformed – where the sticky, run-down room had been, in its stead was left a surprisingly-chic ballroom, a mixture of modern and classic elegance in the decorations. This was most certainly not done by the gnomes whom had been responsible for the dripping banners of Scarentines dances past. Indeed, the Student Council had outdone themselves – the air of the room was a mixture of romance and social sophistication, classy in a way that was surprisingly pleasant for a school, especially one whom seemed, at times, to have a strict budget. Along the walls, a wide spread of food spanned half the length of one wall, delectable sweets of sugared eyeballs and plump, juicy hearts courtesy of Ginger littering the numerous platters, the usual apprehension for cafeteria food remarkably absent. Where drab hanging lights had been, a misted glass dome cradled the candles like miniature chandeliers, and from the crackling speaker, a hauntingly beautiful sonata, the notes drifting from an unseen piano.

In the middle of the room, tables had been arranged, a singular pair of chairs tucked neatly under satin tablecloths the color of freshly-split blood. Nothing but a thin vase with a single dead rose, and a single skull, marred the smooth, sleek surface. Waiting on the chairs, however, was a little card with sample questions for students who found themselves at a loss for what to ask their newfound friends, as they mingled together during the event.

Our goal this evening is to get to know as many of our fellow students as we can, in one night. Please join us in celebrating unity and friendship this Valentine's Day, by signing up and getting to know one another!

Just don't stand in a corner. There is a sick and twisted rumor that the corners have been charmed to dissipate you if you stand in one too long.. better go mingle!

Please read the rules below to see how you can participate in our main event, or feel free to roleplay freely in this thread and any of our other threads! Go get your picture taken at our Photo Booth! Drop your minipets off at our Minipet Mixer! You can also go check out the Games thread if you want to rack up some Scarentine's Points, good for buying V-Day mini's on the minipet website AS WELL AS bidding in our Scarentine's Day Auction, which will occur at the end of our event! How To Play:
Once you've posted here requesting to be matched up, you will be quoted when a match has been chosen. You and your match may move to any of the three table threads of your choosing, and RP there! Be aware, Hosts and Hostesses may drop in at any time for games - but if you'd like to request one for roleplay, please see our Host post for info on how!

How To Get Points:

"What kind of music do you like?"

Every time you make a post in one of the table threads with at least one question in it ("What's your name" doesn't count!) you will be granted a point! And everytime you answer at least one question in a post, you will also be allotted a point!

"Stamp my card plz!"
User ImageUser Image
At the end of your time together, you are allowed an exit post - if your exit post has you and your partner stamping each others cards, you are allotted one last point for that round!
(PLEASE NOTE: You only need to roleplay the stamp, you do NOT need to keep your graphic updated. But it's a nice touch if you do!)
Once a round is over, post in our Points Redemption thread with links to questions, answers, and your stamp!

ONE MORE THING - Once the cards are stamped, you do not get points for questions and answers done afterwards for that round. Getting the card stamped is a means to gain an extra point.

Notice: Please do not enter the tables threads unless you have signed up and are assigned for the current timeslot with your partner. If you are, you may choose which of the three threads to enter. Thank you!

Sometimes, it paid to be the king.

This was not one of those times.

When she had asked Junko to prepare for them a suitable outfit for the occassion, she had expected something long. Elegant. Perhaps even enchanting. Instead, she received this.

This.. this thing.

Every step that Riley took reminded her that her legs were exposed. She felt the air brush against them and wanted to curl up and die. This was not what she had in mind when she said 'Scarentine's Day Fairy'. It was her own fault, she should have been more specific.

And now she was paying for it.

Luckily, the ghouls were shorter than her, and she was intent on keeping herself behind them for as long as possible. Red was a lovely color - but this.. this was.. it simply wasn't her.

Riley had spent the last month diligently planning with all five members of the Student Council, down to the very last detail. This event would be a culmination of many long hours of work, toiling away at plans, choosing decorations, speaking with outside contractors to provide for food, music, ambience, construction, prizes, and all under her budget. She strictly refused donations; Riley was clear when she demanded that she be the sole benefactor of the event. And who would fight such a benevolent offer? The finest of accomodations were laid out for the student body in this event, and it was clear there was no expense spared. The tablecloths were real crushed velvet. The napkins were as soft as foxfire fur. The chairs were plush and decadent, and the food...

The food..

Therefore, when Riley picked up the bill, no one complained. Jericho would bring her the expense reports, and she would write them off without a look. As such, the Scarentine's Day event shimmered with opulence, as fine as any demon gathering might have expected to be.

The gnomes that worked the bar began setting out glasses and filling them with sparkling blood. The back wall, blinking furiously with the flickering lights of all the different game and arcade machines, beckoned students to waste their time away on them. But the corners of the room looked darker than usual. More dangerous. Almost.. threatening. They had been enchanted to force-dissipate any student who felt a corner was a good place to stand in, during a party.

Riley was intolerant to wallflowers.

The doors to the auditorium creaked open as the first guests started arriving. Riley stiffened with anxiety, but soon forced herself to relax. This event was the culmination of all of their hard work and dedication to the student body - she would not falter at the finish line by being worried over a simple dress.

Her hand brushed against her thigh roughly as she was reminded of it's exposure once more.

This would be a long night.

Everything was all set now. They had all done quite a bit in getting this thing up and running. And yet, Jericho still felt that he couldn't really relax. He never really could as of late, and it was probably a miracle that he managed to do as much as he did for this party. Yes, he felt wary of it to some extent. And in fact, he was going to be keeping an eye out for suspicious strangers while this was going on. For all he knew, there could be a hunter or two in their false bodies, sneaking in to gather intel on the student body, again.

That, and he was going to make sure that no one jacking tried to steal anything from the prize booth. So, in his mind, as foggy as it was right now, he was going to be acting as a sort of security guard.

He would do whatever he could to make sure this wasn't ruined. Fixing up his outfit a bit, he sauntered over by Riley, who seemed rather displeased with her attire for the evening. It was true that it.. wasn't exactly suiting of her. Though, despite that, she still looked lovely. She always did.

Nodding to her, he patrolled around the room once more, making sure everything was in place.

It was almost time.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 10, 2012 10:27 am
This..was quite an event. It was going to be the best event ever. Well, maybe. She'd think that now, but knowing their mighty President, Riley would think up something even more fabulous for the next event. Still, like Riley, Shehk didn't exactly seem too sold on the 'Scarentine's Fairy' uniform, but still made a point to strut it like a champ. It wasn't a bad dress, really.

It had just taken a while to get sold to her. It was one of those things where wearing it had made all the difference. Still, Shehk had taken a few minutes to look over everything, an enormous grin on her face before she walked over to Riley, brushing her hand over the Mindflayer's shoulder. "It looks even more amazing off of paper, Riley." she grinned. She liked this. She liked this so much better. Somehow it didn't seem so....painful.

Shehk had fully expected Scarentine's to make her feel miserable, like salt in some wounds, but..this didn't. The colors couldn't be helped and well...she liked the distraction of everything. With that aside, the Pricolici turned to Jericho, scratching his back in some attempt to be soothing. She could see his nerves.

Jack only knew Shehk had them as well, her nose burning constantly, filled with hunger. A deep hunger she hadn't ever known she'd possessed.

They all looked tired, but it was so worth it.

User ImageChristof shifted stiffly, hobbling awkwardly. He was not used to NEW clothes. Sure, new to him, but everything was a hand-me-down, recycled, cut apart and stitched together.

A brand new black tux somehow fitted for his awkward, hunched proportions was not usually on the agenda.

He felt like an under taker. This was a good thing, he supposed! Their hard work would pay off, he was sure. Heart beating quickly, he limped his way after their student president, eyes locked on the lovely lavender form encased in a dress like red rose petals. There really was something odd in the air, wasn't there? It made his heart feel tight and his stomach twist...

You look lovely, Mistress. Today will be a good day, I think, he sent the thought quietly, politely to her as he joined Riley and Jericho, ignoring the dragon for now to timidly lean against the mindflayer like an affectionate cat. Only a lot more lumpy and lopsided.

At least he was looking sharp in his new suit.

Finally, everything was ready! Junko looked upon the ballroom with no small amount of pride, admiring each and every lovely decoration they had so lovingly set up. From the tables to the centerpieces, even the curtains and games and unhappy gnomes wandering around picking at their diapers and strapped on wings, everything was perfect. She squealed and bounced on her toes, clapping her hands excitedly. "It's so great to see our hard work come to fruition~! I can't wait to see what everyone else thinks!" Everything would be perfect! A look was given to each of her fellow cast members as she admired the boils' tuxes--Christof's was especially impressive with how difficult his body type was to work with--as well as her beautiful handiwork on the matching dresses she had been asked to make for herself, Shehk and Riley. They were perfect; each stitch, button, and trimming was placed just right.

There was only one thing wrong with her and Shehk's dresses.

One.

Small.

Little.

Detail.

...They were wearing pink fairy wings.

Riley had demanded they be sewn to the small bolero coats made to go over their dresses, and Junko had at first protested until it became clear she would not be getting her way. She and Shehk...were stuck wearing pink fairy wings.

She hated these wings.

Shifting uncomfortably in the small coat and reaching back to attempt adjusting the wings, Junko cast a narrow-eyed glare toward their president. Her wings weren't even pink. It wasn't faaaaair! She sighed quietly, the wings seeming to droop as she deflated with defeat. She perked right back up though. This was not the time to sulk because of her wings! It was party time!

*ROCH* wants to get to know somebody!

Roch had a plate of food in his hands. It looked as if it would fall over at any time, but it also seemed to be getting shorter by the second. "Those tables, can we sit at'em?" he asked one of the hosts, after swallowing. He had no clue that this was some sort of speed dating arrangement.

All his thoughts were on the fact that if he had a table, he could have more plates! He munched on a roll as he waited for them to tell him where to sit.

AMARUS wants to get to know somebody!

How bad could it be to get to know Amarus? Not that bad, surely. She had a small problem with Scarentines activities, and that was ... well, her inability to really feel things very strongly. There were only a handful of boils or ghouls who had ever piqued her interest enough to summon up those dull and distant feelings, but hopefully she would at least feel anger or a particularly strong indignation by the end of the exciting Scarentines student event.

Besides, she had a personal goal: punch at least four students in the face by the end of the night. Then, and only then, would she consider it a successful Scarentines. Her first Scarentines at Amityville, in fact! What better way to celebrate such a landmark? Amarus approached what she deemed to be the suitable location for ... well, involving herself in this event. She didn't really know what she was doing, and in truth, she hadn't even changed her normal outfit. Amarus didn't know any better; she didn't have any girly friends, she hadn't really gotten to know anyone who'd even talked about Scarentines, so she was hardly dressed up for the occassion.

She did not really notice that she was unprepared, however, and thought more about how she hoped Jin was not eating her pillows back in the dormitory room. Ideally, the firelands wyvern would be satisfied with any treats she brought back later, even though she wished they could all hang out with her and keep her company: Ashbel, Jin and Crow were doing various things. Again, hopefully not devouring anything.

Maybe Crow would also punch four minipets in the face, as he was in the Minipet Mixer.

"Hello..." Amarus addressed those in charge of ...well, running the thing, she assumed, or whoever it was she was supposed to ask in order to get involved. "Would you mind terribly signing me up for whatever this is?"

*AM* wants to get to know somebody!

Am had long finished what was on her plate of refreshments, and was now eating the plate itself as she wandered over. She was curious why there were people gathering.

"Hi." she said thickly to the nearest student council member, through a mouthful of crunching. The plate tasted like leftover sausage.

"What this? Fun for snork scarf crunch Am?"
